It not so much about him leaving but him leaving without a word/ letter. The audience knows that he wrote a letter when she didn't show up to their date but that got stolen. So, he thinks he left her a letter declaring his intentions to her and she thinks that he left without a word right when she needed him most. Its pretty much established by the time he leaves that they are pair so... As a friend Xiaoqin is right to be mad.
