OMG, yes!!! While she is protective of Houchi she doesn't over do it and she is very respectful to her as well. I really like the balance that they have. Houchi defers to her on somethings and vise versa. Its such a balanced relationship and I love it. Yue Mi and Tang Qi were also good to Shang Gu but they over indulged her. You will notice that while both Houchi and Shang Gu have very low spiritual power from birth Shang gu was very spoilt while Houchi isn't.

Yes they were. I watched the episode on wetv immediately after it got uploaded and I noticed the same issue. It seems like they have fixed after though since some people didn't notice it.

I meant that considering the hate the show has been getting they may have held off on releasing those extra episodes so to build anticipation, which translates into more people buying those extra episodes when they do get released. This is only a guess so it could be way off.
Yes, you are right, cnet does love to hate on shows. Wasn't the reception the same with L&R last year especially with the early episodes. I remember some people even saying the show was over hyped or some other rubbish.
I would say now its shaping up to be on par with both of them- we'll see how the rest of the show goes but right now its a strong contender. Definitely my fave Xianxia of the year so far.

The thing I will add is that I don't know if Shang Gu life was supposed to be die life a final death and never be reincarnated, its possible that the tribulation of chaos is just something she was destined to go through as a course of her life and not as the end. Remember that the other born true god Xuan Yi, who was supposed to be chief god rebelled when he found out that he had to sacrifice himself for the 3 realms to survive. Shang Gu was only born out of the left over power after the supreme being sacrificed himself to lock up that misbehaving Xuan Yi.
Can't wait for the rest of the episodes to drop tomorrow so that I comfortably binge this drama. Once again that advance viewing feature for IQIYI was totally worth it.
I am liking how vicious Ga Haeun has become after losing her mother. Its not really murder more like manslaughter and even that would be difficult to prove but still. Finally this is living up to the revenge drama that it should be. I dont know how I feel about the death of Serin's father- he truly was an irredeemable character and so annoying. The fact that he was convinced to give himself a heart attack was bad in that he is human but considering how many lives he took/affected through his actions I am kind of OK with his demise.
