You should try watching "30sai made Dotei dato Mahotsukai ni Narerurashii" its a Japanese bl and it's amazing. Its very diiferent. I am not going to say much but many people who were hesitating to watch this series has now become a huge fan.

A country that doesn't want a women to become emperor even though they lack male's to appoint as emperor you can't expect them to legalize gay marriage. No most people is not in for it. Some just shows support so they won't call homophobic by others but in reality they don't really want LGBTQ+ community to thrive.
