Finally finished this and wow... I must say this is one of the best dramas I watched this year. i rated this 9.5.…
it was hard to accept that my pookie Wei Liang has to die. i really bawled my eyes out when that scene came. and Wei Qu had to lose one arm to save Manman's father while carrying Wei Liang's dead body on his back. these parts will probably haunt me on the next few days. 😭

9/10 for me. i never expected anything, and from the poster, i don't think it really branded itself as a romance drama. even so, i still dove here and loved it! i enjoyed the individual situations of the characters being discussed and resolved in every episode. i find this drama comforting and cozy. an easy watch.

tbh, I'm kinda thankful I watched this while ongoing. because if not, I'll definitely miss out on this one. i sometimes do depend my judgment on whether or not to watch a kdrama based on MDL ratings. what happened to WTPR ratings all the more proved that MDL ratings are indeed unreliable. despite the questionable ending, the experience of watching this kdrama was exhilarating, a feeling I would want to experience again as a viewer through another drama next time. because of this, I came to the conclusion that I should definitely watch while ongoing more than bingewatch a drama later. who knows what else I would miss out should I just depend on this site's ratings.

Two people will probably break down crying should they read the comments here on MDL: first is the novel writer, because the Argan plot was her original idea, and second is the scriptwriter, for choosing to include the Argan plot in the drama haha🄹

Problem with drama is that they didn’t focus on ML past professions and skill in previous episodes ,he was running…
indeed, yes. i agree with you. if only they included in the drama the backstory of Baek Sa Eon as a war correspondent and how he was crawling through gunshots while covering for his reports, then the Argan scene in ep 12 would have made sense to everyone, especially to those who didn't read the novel.

I read the novel, so I might be a bit understanding. But I agree that the Argan scene may appear out of place, especially for those who didn't read the novel. I am thinking that, maybe, the scriptwriter included that scene in respect to the original work. The scriptwriter deviated from the novel midway through the series, so she could have thought of going back to how it was in the novel instead of totally changing the storyline. I don't think the Argan scene is fully unnecessary because it introduced ML's next profession after resigning from being a spokesperson - i.e. negotiator. It was said that he was a war correspondent before, so they might have included the Argan scene to prove he's indeed capable as a negotiator. Also, it was explained in the novel that "negotiating" is what ML does best. However, I can't deny that the Argan scene in the novel is far better than what they've shown in the drama. It was detailed in the novel. So I understand why everyone's reacting negatively to it.

Didn’t Sa Eon’s (ML) mother tell the father that Sa Eon looks a lot like the chairman, while the father doesn’t?…
According to the novel, Baek Ui Yong is the legitimate son, while fake Sa Eon is the Chairman's illegitimate son he had at 70 years old (crazy, isn't it?) I saw a post on X explaining the DNA result shows Baek Ui Yong and fake Sa Eon are partially matched since, technically, they are half brothers.

As for the conversation, I think the meaning behind Sa Eon looking a lot like the Chairman pertains to the skills/abilities of fake Sa Eon. Hence the next statement, "That son is rising much faster than you are."

The plot of this is so ridiculous. I don’t know what the writers are smoking, but it’s some crazy stuff. Could…
Answering your questions based on the flow of the novel:
* Could someone please explain to me how a ā€œkidnapperā€ continues to make crazy demands
---> He is the real Baek Saeon, and ultimately, he wants to reclaim his identity. Not just simply kidnap Heejoo.

* And what ā€œkidnapperā€ demands that a guy divorce his wife lol
---> Based on the novel, the "kidnapper" wants Heejoo to divorce Baek Saeon so that once he reclaimed his identity, he doesn't have a wife. Technically, Heejoo is married to "Baek Saeon", but the kidnapper/real Baek Saeon doesn't want Heejoo as a wife. He just wants his identity back.

* Also, the whole marriage situation is insane.
---> Baek Saeon married Heejoo in order to free her someday (possibly, with no feelings attached) because her family is C R A Z Y. I think this was explained pretty well in the drama.

Also, I don't think Sa-eon is adopted (as a complete stranger) but an illegitimate child. That dad of his, ya…
if we are basing from the novel, close enough but not really...
