A pleasant surprise - along the lines of an Agatha Christie "Then there will be none" mystery - wrapped up in…
Considering the reveal at the end, I doubt there will be a season 2. But yeah, the show was awesome! Everything just worked for me. BTW, have you got any idea the name of the song that plays during the credits?
Sorry reviewers, it's not a 10. It also isn't a 7dot either. It's extremely feel good though. Bound to put a smile on your face. But it's bloated by three episodes in my view.
Recommended! Especially for guys like me that normally gag at the romance in the genre. This one...works.
For me, families are usually a drag for the plot. Not this time! The Tamuras are the best TV family I've seen a long time. Because I was rooting for them, the many drags and plot holes fell to the wayside. If you want your heart to be full of sunshine and the air to smell of daisies, I'd suggest watching this and the anime Runway te Warate back to back.
Analytically, Ehh, it was alright. Emotionally, it brought the goods. But I can see how opinions would differ.
Everybody is bringing their A-game, and Liu Yi Jin improves as a villain in every new show I see him in. The man officially gets my vote for the next Bond villain.
That said,
1. Why do Asian dramas insist on spoiling their own damn shows in the credit sequence?
2. Why do the leads have to romance each other? (spoilers, but the show did it first!) That is one of the reasons I loved In the Name of The People.
Come on, guys! Yes, it drops off after the OG Emperor dies, and gets ho-hum after the 3rd Emperor (we see) shuffles off this mortal coil, but not 4/10 or even 7/10 bad. Come on! This is a first-class tragedy, just take it as historical fiction and it works.
Y'all made me rate it slightly higher than I would have to try and restore some balance.
It won't bore you. Won't wow you either. Some of the cast were incredible!
P.S Li Yi Jun would make a great Bond villain.
Now both of us can't.
