But don't you want to watch to see how they revitalize "Made in China" brand?
I usually hope against hope that they will actually focus on the nitty gritty business stuff, but I have been burned far too many times. There will be romance, then speeches, then the problem will be magically resolved. Cue applauding crowds.
Too bad there isn't a trailer, and none of the actors are familiar. I'll have to pass.
Contrary to you, I love the arrogant and bombastic ML because I find him so funny, and that also has made him…
1. Ancient Detective 2. The Best Partner
Although I'm stretching 'strong' to mean capable here. If you mean literally, and you haven't seen it, then Nirvana in Fire Season 2 sounds up your lane. In that one, I preferred Big bro to the little bro.

It isn't just his arrogance, it is also his blandness. I suppose its purpose was to allow the show's side characters to shine. And its side characters are MVP-tier.
But compared to the other arrogant characters in the show: The Emperor, Wuzhu, Lord Sheng, Wan-er's mum, Archer Guy and the Second Prince, the ML is just bland. Not as cool as Wuzhu or as quirky as the Second Prince. His character trait isn't as complicated as Lord Sheng's--a bad guy who is nonetheless loyal and committed to family. Not as chaotic as the Grand Princess. Archer guy is fairly bland too, but I didn't have to follow him for 42 episodes.
Maybe the jokes went above my head, but to be honest, if he wasn't the protagonist, he'd be as forgettable as the Crown Prince; another bland character. He is just like Superman: Too strong and utterly forgettable. I don't know if you've watched 'Ancient Detective'. Its male lead was also overpowered, in the sense that you knew he'd always prevail at the end, but he was a more well-rounded character. And most importantly, one with real weaknesses. In Fan Xian's case, having bad writing does not just cut it for me.
I did not like the ML at all. When you create an arrogant character, there is a slim possibility that the audience ends up disliking them. And I did. That flaw does not detract from the sheer awesomeness of this show.
I especially need to give major props to the casting director--everybody but the ML was perfect, or perhaps the ML was *too* perfect LOL--, the sound effects crew and most especially, the costumiers. Wuzhu's get up and Si Qi's Red Dress (Ancient Detective) are possibly the most memorable designs I've seen on screen.
Everybody did an excellent job. Look forward to the next season. IMO, this show is better than Nirvana In Fire as an introduction to C-Dramas.
Not romance-focused, obviously. Sadly, that means I will have to wait a while for subs or bite the bullet and dive in RAW ):
Luckily Joy of Life has got some of the best supporting characters ever, so I didn't mind much.
I was joking...rigging because the drama isn't even out yet. It might not be a 9, so pre-voting is rigging, of sorts.

There is an Elisabeth Holmes' joke here...somewhere. Make your claim to greatness, anon.

If you've seen the show, you know that she ends up the Emperor of Nanjing's concubine. And it was fairly obvious that Fan Xian was attracted to her.

Hmm, maybe I'm jealous o:

I mean, you're right. Li Qin fans are a respectable lot unlike those vote-rigging Xiao Zhan fans o:
