i think this list should include mostly actors who hasn't had a lot of leading roles.
That could also be but i already have a different list for that (young actors mostly).
Just because i titled a list in a certain way, i can't dictate or force people to vote for actors who are only most appropriate to the list. A lot of people would end up voting for their faves no matter what and at least i have filtered out some already.
Like LMH and LJS who are straight up incompatible to this list.
Female lead is trying to imitate honey style, but not at all sinking with the drama. And about the comedy, it should…
she plays it similarly to Honey Lee, but that doesn't mean she imitates her exactly. i see her more of being chaotic. how differently can an actress portray a chaotic yet sophisticated character do you think? it's not like she's playing a chaotic country bumpkin character which can be expressed differently.
Hospital playlist, reply 1988 has similar running duration. the longer running time makes way for the comedy, it fits.
not sure what you mean by the comedy should merge with the darker parts? care to illustrate how it can be done?
I feel like some screenwriters work are better watched in order of release.
E.g. in Vincenzo comment sections, many people say they think the FL overacts her character but i think she plays it really well and it reminds me of Honey Lee's character in The Fiery Priest.
Seeing Vincenzo has regular comedic scenes, some people think it's a minus but i feel only those who've seen the writers previous works can appreciate why comedy is a sub-genre in it. It's the writer's signature and definitely a plus.
Definitely a very refreshing drama that forces me to jump right in. I don't think many writers could be this talented. We're getting so many of the serious OCN style crime dramas already, it's starting to feel tired.
Comedy genre is not even easy, the writer should be applauded in earnest.
i have removed several well-to-do actors. and as i scroll down, i saw the name of Jang Keun Suk, and i stopped removing it. my #1 bias of the entire South of Korea is JKS, and i know exactly what people mean when they voted him. he may be popular internationally, but he faces great hurdles to win the same level of love/reputation in his own country because he's bold and unrelenting to the expectations of Korean media and its society.
as i will repeat here what i have replied in the comment below, an actor could be some of the highest paid in the country in terms of his brand endorsements earnings, but this list refers more to the commercial success of his acting projects. of course international fans would have a hard time tryna figure out if a specific new drama by an actor is commercially successful in Korea or not, so i accept the average rating system of their dramas on MDL as mildly indicative of their commercial success too.
also i have kept the title generic so everyone can interpret it as they like. could an actor who has already achieved great commercial success in the various countries that accept and watch kdramas, be considered not as commercially successful like the most legendary ones who have worked steadily in Hollywood projects, like Lee Byung Hun and Bae Doo Na? of course they can. as there's no specific benchmark to say to an actor (who's commercially successful to some extent) that "he's finally arrived".
even Jackie Chan won't say that "he's arrived" out of a desire to continue to be successful in new genres other than action, so what's the big fuss with letting some actors be voted in on this list, eh?
if those who i removed are added back in by some other people, i am not responsible for it and i will let it be, because i believe people are free to make their own prerogative about it, and your opinion about what makes an actor already commercially successful is not conclusive or the only valid one, LOL.
gahh so many things happened. this is truly a top-tier drama!!!
1. when Vincenzo figured that he needed to work alongside the lawyer ahjussi to win back the building from the gangster company, and ahjussi let him in. also, he found out that the ahjussi is the one who represents his mother in court (the one who abandoned him).
2. when Vincenzo wanted to eat at the Italian restaurant but got chased off right away, so he had to eat at the ttobeokki restaurant but got it spilled all over his suit, lmao. and then the next morning he came back to the Italian restaurant and ordered a risotto, and then spit it out saying it sucked and tastes like baby food. he enjoys traumatizing the fake Italian chef so much lol, HAHAHAHA! i am rooting for the chef ahjussi though, his character development and 'coming out of his fake identity' are one of the things i am looking forward to the most in the show HAHAHA.
3. when Kwak Dong Yeon appeared as chairman of the Babel Group but we also got to see later that he is actually only an avatar of the real gangster chairman. can't wait to see who the real chairman is, damnn.
4. the zombie acting practice scene and how both the lawyer ahjussi and Vincenzo walked in and saw them doing that HAHAHA!! too fckin funny!
5. when Vincenzo got the idea to hold the party so the gangsters can't demolish the building that night. i wonder what other tricks he have on the sleeve since that's only delaying it slightly, and the gangsters move very fast. and when Ha Young got attracted to him LOL no kidding, he be serving us all the brain and looks!!!!
TLDR; i am really rooting for Vincenzo and all the crazy-ass tenants who refuse to move out, hahaha.
Why JCW and PSJ are here?? They are both very commercially successful.
As an actor if their drama are not commercially doing well they will count in the equation too, separate from the fact that they are still well sought after in the brands endorsement industry.
