Sounds like the actor is too old for being a student. But for sure, I'd watch that because Jin Ki Joo is so good at comedy. Watched her in "From now on showtime", one of my fav comedy drama now.
I'm at episode 8. I'm surprised, it's better than what I expected. Of course, irrealistic, but not too much absurd. It focuses more on characters emotions.
I have the feeling to understand the title of the drama now. My guess is the "escape" isn't only litteral, it's about escaping themselves, or their old self. So the drama is about the redemption of 7 bad people. I'll watch to the end to check that.
I'm starting season2! I liked previous season less than previous dramas from our Queen of Makjang writer Kim Soon Ok. Even if 5 first episodes were excellent and first 2 ones perfect. Then, it leans too much in absurdity. But she never disappoint about pace, (over) dramatism and satire. So, I salivate as I'm starting the drama now.......
Finally ended. First part of last episode is epic. But second part rushed. Also, the very end not really satisfaying.
On the whole, the drama is forgetable. Plot heavy, many talks about that, with a sleepy feeling. Characters are a bit dead fishes and it's the problem with this writer. It's flat on ECG, except some moments of action/tension. More like an US series than a kdrama.
Ep08, 46:20. One of the weirdest things I watched here: The old man screams but we don't see him doing it. "NAGAAAAAA". Just a shot from the back, and another shot on the other character. Giving the sensation no one say anything. I don't know what was the purpose of this, but it feels totaly out of pace. Even out of reality......... ๐ฌ
Great review you made here. And smart to mention Christopher Nolan. Indeed, writer Song Jae-Jung uses non-linear storytelling in a heavy way, what makes her style quite unique in kdramas. By the way, I have to precise: you mention the editing about use of flashbacks/flashforward, but this isn't editing, it's in the screenplay.
If you need a drama that is easy to watch this one is for you. Is is not great and it is not bad. I have to say…
It's a very boring drama after episode 6. But it can please girls with candy eyes about simply watch the cute main couple, even when they are doing nothing (what happens often, lol).
Okay, I keep hearing people trash Love Alarm so much that now it's got me curious to check it out.... is it bad-bad,…
It's not that bad, but it's frustrating. FL is terribly annoying and once I got this idea, the drama was more watchable. She's an indecisive girl and it makes people mad, and first the two guys of the story. Some parts are a bit boring. Her boyfriend is boring, and she has boring dialogues with him. It's like a girl choosing a boring life. I could watch because I like the actress Kim So Hyun, and she's never been more beautiful than in Love Alarm part 2.
Some comments say the drama is boring. I wouldn't say as far as this, but there is indeed some slowdown. Here an example.
Ep07, 18:00, scene in police station. It's a good example of directing (or production/editing) problem this drama have. The scene is long and sleepy, mostly plot talking, with many silences. Cold on emotion as most of the drama. In background, a thrilling music, but in soft mode, accentuating the sleepy effect.
About nice things now: various details about exploring close future innovations. Not only the bio-tech, but the use of AI for camera recognition, drone swarm, etc.
Here an example of a cool scene: FL is in police station, and while the cops wonder who is the culcript, she gets all the information on her special glasses, but hides it to them. Making it a bit comedy (or irony).
Ep07. 28:20. The character says "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" This is title of a Philip K. Dick book. A scifi author dedicated to close future stories. (note, this novel was adapted to cinema in movie "Blade Runner") What confirms the screenwriter is fan of the genre and probably read books on it.

As foreshadowing, we also see her in episode 1. (the girl trying to steal an item)

During the second part, when the guitar comes in... goosebumps!

I feel like I'm melting now. ๐ฝ๐ป๐ธ
Action scene was nice, but I don't like the cliffhanger.
Looks like it's made confusing on purpose, but it doesn't work well.
BUT hopefully, it's cleared as soon as episode 5 starts. Good job.
Cliffhanger of ep5. Ahah, too easy, I guess what she's looking at.
It was obvious even before in the episode.
EDIT: my guess was wrong. LOL.
