It seems the actors won't receive a full script when they're offered or casting for the role. There would only…
I'd like so much to speak korean and find everything about that on korean internet. I did some search about that in the past and got some interesting informations. I also think they don't have the full script.
Or it depends on the dramas, we have:
- Full pre-production. The drama is filmed 100% before airing. Here is a chance the script is fully written before the actors get it.
- Half pre-production: Half the episodes filmed before airing. They continue to shoot and writer continue to write the script during airing. Even when the script isn't fully written, the writer have an outline.
- No pre-production: or just few first episodes. It's the case you mention, during broadcasting, the script can change according to the audience. But it was a process used more in the past. Today, dramas are more pre-produced, at least drama with < 16 episodes with high quality image and script. For KBS family dramas or things like that, I think they shoot and write that along the way.
A lot. of course, live operation, it's fake blood or meat, cut with scalpel. But when they do it by cam, I wonder…
It's ok, I watched the drama. Excellent one. By the way, I've also a gory surgical operation scene in the kdrama I'm writing, but it's not a medical drama. I think it's ok in a medical drama because if I was wondering what profession I want to choose and I like medecine, I'd prefer to be prepared with the reality.
That's why the ratings are often skewed, because people rate the drama based on their "favorite" actor. It should…
I think it should be good to go from movie to drama. In a movie, all is faster, to the point and should be without dead time. Well, it depends on the movies.
Impossible Heir have some scenes with "movie reflexes": I mean the scene start the later possible, and cut as early as possible. But I was wondering in a previous comment if it was the good thing to do for some scenes. Maybe more developpement could help about emotions and better get the relationships.
Then, my fav dramas are often written like movies (giant 16h movies), without fillers and many twists and turn, but still portray correctly the universe of the drama. Recently, the drama Death's Game really give you this feeling.
Now, about the difficulties: outline a movie is more easy because it's short. Outline a whole drama is of course more difficult. And when you can rewrite the script of a movie 4 or 5 times, it's not really possible to do it for a drama.
So, let's say you have made mistake during the preparation phase but are unable to see it (and it's quite easy to make such mistakes), then you write it but don't have much room to fix that. If it's about something related to the whole structure, it's dead.
Over time, I can find that kind of problem in dramas, even from famous writers. It's not because they are doing it badly. I think they put their best, but it's just crazy difficult. As long as the drama isn't written, there is always a kind of blur. And when it's done, it's too late.
Also, in a movie, you don't repeat twice the same information, while the older drama writers often did (with additional flashbacks). For example, in Impossible Heir, maybe the writer did the scenes with FL and ML for first episodes and stated: ok, now I started their relationship, it's done. But we don't feel it after some episodes. Plus we don't binge watch but watch on air and forget the information and feeling along the way.
Add to that, the character wasn't enough likable to make believe in a romance, and it's screwed. When the writer sincerely did her best to portray the FL with her backstory, ambition personnality, etc. Only, it wasn't the good personnality for that story? But now it's too late, all was structured in this way. There was a kind of blindness, and the writer missed that. And it's difficult to spot when you are alone facing the pages.
Good stories are never dated. I watched 3 episodes and I'm addicted. I guess it will be a rude love triangle, with indecise FL, annoying, turning guys crazy. And it's exactly what I like when an actress is so beautiful and quite good in her role.
Finally, I haven't started the show yet but have seen a lot of hate towards FL she can't act etc saying the support…
You think a 20 millions budget drama is an acting classroom? And we should somehow be "patient" and accept this terrible actress in this drama, waiting some years before she improves? (and destroying some other dramas along the way).
It's the highest competitive level. Any rookie just get a guest role. And should be 100% confirmed for the leads. I don't see any reason for this dull model to be here, except some kind of "business exception" behind the scene.
Unpopular opnion: the hate towards the FL shows once again the bias against female actresses on MDL. There are…
Please, do you have a tippy or patreon? I'm so amazed by your wisdom I want to give money. Please, please, please, where can I give you the opportunity to be the leader of my new cult?
Hows the writing, drama veterans? Did it pick up after the opening eps (only watched them)?
Not the worst drama, but not exactly exciting. First episode was Ok, then it's dull, then I found ep6 better. I didn't watched yet ep 7. Everything seems to be already done in a better way in other dramas.
What? This is not about the love triangle. Inha was always psychopath and planned to destroy Taeoh from the very…
What kiss are you speaking? I just remember the one in this episode. So after I posted this comment. (now I've ended the episode) And for now, I watched only 6 episodes. So it's not a given to know In Ha is a psychopath and planned to destroy Tae Oh. I think you are too ahead of time.
Ep6. after an argument FL - SML. Quick scene, Magical hacker and ML in a car. So we understand he takes him to hospital. Nice and short.
36:20. Return of crazy FL mother. Quite good. We don't get the end of the scene, I'm not sure it's good or bad. Mystery darkens, mother was paid by someone to put pressure on FL. Could be the SML, so she can cry on his shoulder after.
41:00: magical hacker doing magical hack, typing on keyboard (lol). Press space bar (ah!). It's quite clear what he does. Good mix of screen view and real view by the cams.
And revelation: attacker was In Joo dog. Motivation could be to help the other CEO young guy wanting to marry Hee Joo. And In Joo knows Hee Joo is interested by ML. So. Only, it wasn't done in good order, as the scene when In Joo have confirmation of Hee Joo feeling happens during this episode, so, AFTER the attack. Or he hides he already knows it?
44:30. Stupid FL makes a scene because granpa didn't asked her name, and ridiculous herself by being inpolite, as of course, granpa always knows everything. Then it's quite logic why he didn't asked her name at the start of episode. She double down with more nerve and ask for a real job. Then it was supposed to be a good move, as granpa could like this kind of direct person. I'm surprised the SFL doesn't say the FL is a nine-tailed fox. Anyway, the scene makes sens.
48:00. I don't know how many time passed, but ML is back on his feet, healed.
49:30. Goes to see In Joo' dog in a night club basement (he has drugs in his closet, well, the guy need a lot of painkillers as he's often beaten by In Joo). Tense scene. Then ML just gave information to his enemy he knows them. Is it really a smart decision?!!
53:00. Goes to see FL. Kind of tragic love scene where they say no. Kiss attempt. Fails. Drama song. Should be a real kiss after... (I write comments while watching in real time) YEAH. ahaha. I see things coming miles away now.
But In Joo' dog took photo of the scene. Nice!!! It's karma, ML was an arrogant fool to reveal them in first place.
59:00. FL still goes to marry SML. Aaaahhaaahhh..... Everybody looks at everybody in the room. We don't get the ceremony and the "yes", "yes". Goes to diner room after.
Mmmh, I'm thinking about that... The writer makes ML leave the room before, so it would be useless to show it. But the scene could be good with a glances between ML and FL when she's about to say yes. Moment of tension, will she does it or not? She says yes, then, emotion on ML face, and contradictatory emotion on FL face. Could be a good scene. Better than the one in the drama? Maybe.
1:02:00. Super-jerk ask FL to enter elevator, showing her photos of the kiss. haha.
1:03:00. Out of context, we have ML with blood on him, asleep on the floor of (hostel room?) It's an interesting trick. We don't know what happened, but he's with a knife and two dead people in the room. We guess it's a setup (he was probably drugged). What is surprising is they are In Joo and (his wife?). I like it as a cliffhanger.
The episode is better than some previous ones despite some slow moments. No boring chit-chat about obscure financial schemes, and giving what we wanted to have before as seeds.
Ep6. Follow a scene when FL goes to see ML at hospital. Holding hand "kajima". Right on point this time. Too bad it's a bit late. The tragic music is too good for this drama.
I've just noticed something horrible about FL - we can see the veins on her face. 😨 Lot of veins on her hand too. 😬 She gives such a creepy feeling. Mix of robot, alien and zombie.
Follow scenes where everyone learn ML is at hospital. The one with the two brothers argument is a good one.
Except the first absurd plot-point, the episode is quite Ok for now. A bit slow.
15:25. Conflict SFL and FL. Nice! Alas too short.
Then it's quite boring... Nothing happens, ML sleep.
21:10: here we get the scene we needed before, SML spy ML and FL holding hands. The writer didn't spend enough time building doubts during the drama.
21:44: no dialog, SFL drink in one-go a full glass of whisky. ^^ Good transition with the guy (journalist?) making a coffee. He's boss of FL. Dialog/situation is better, she has to hide she's concerned.
I'm a bit worried about the actress condition. It's like there is no life in her.
26:00: good dramatic scene. SML is a jerk with ML. It should be clear now there is no friendship anymore (but I'm not sure there was any friendship at any time, maybe episode 1).
ML does crazy things and escape hospital in bad condition. Goes to see granpa, whose spend his episode time to give blessings (with condition). Maybe he could just use a smartphone a call granpa instead? 😅
ML in the street. Sick like death. Good directing. Ends at magical hacker home. Quite logic, he needs help to find his attacker.
This one is really funny in the drama, and not easy to catch. In short, the girl acts in an absurd way before, so the ML says "aigoo" as a polite way to says "looks like I will spend the day with a crazy one". 😄 Just one word and the good intonation and you get that idea.
The writer lost her way with too much absurdity and parody (or self-parody), but I'll still try to watch that. What overdramatic spectacle will it be...?!
The formula to put it right is: (NOTE - 5) x2.
So this drama is 4.2/10.
SFL is so pretty, and does easy the capricious daughter role.
I did some search about that in the past and got some interesting informations.
I also think they don't have the full script.

It's 1/10 the image quality, but the story is addictive and actors excellent.
