I've been so spoiled last quarter with the romance dramas main couples all trying to one up each other with more and more intimate scenes than one another that this lack of affirmation of affections in Sword and Beloved is really unsatisfying.
Everyone around Fugui and Qingtong seem to believe they are lovers and they themselves did not really denied it but they never had any deep conversation about their relationship as lovers. Its all very vague with barely any heartfelt affectionate love scenes, not even hugs and handholding that confirms it (that last one dont count, cuz its more like hes comforting her while she still grieving her brother). They just soo polite with each other lol. Fuqui always wears that same stoic expression. QT kept calling him FQ Shao ye also does not help either, does she see herself as his lover or his maid?
Seriously, I can feel the main leads have chemistry but the way the director have their characters interact with each other just cancels most of it out.
lol I watched it before making that comment. they are definitely bonding, but seem more like companionship/friendship sort of way, he hasnt admitted to liking her and its not anything passionate yet. I feel like him saving her because he believe its the right thing to do. He did say if it was other innocent demon struggling to survive, he would also do the same, altho I'm not sure how much of that is true, since you wouldn't sacrifice 10 years lifespan for just anybody. Lets see when he will realize his true feeling
The lack of romance in dramas this quarter is dreading... Even with S&B, I'm not feeling it much and if when it does it get stronger (probably more slow burn), it feels like it will just serve as a plot device for the story to move forward, so WQFG can reach his understanding of the sword and all worldly things better.
Well, I'm glad they decided to aired this romance drama along with the other 2 big male lead centered dramas or else it would feel pretty stuffy this quarter.
I am a little bitter with this ending. Why can't they show the main couple live happily together in ancient time till old age then when she die, she returns back to modern as if it was a dream??? Srsly poor guy...
For anyone wondering why MY never mentioned that she was MX ... here's an explanation from HMH. https://x.com/jijeju5/status/1978836756834247110?t=xq77fz-d9PJuk4umjDOPpg&s=19
Thats so sweet of him to explain. Its understandable, Ming Xian identity was never just about her but also a huge royal secret concerning her family and her realm. Although they trust each other, there is also a lot at stake.
The emperor made enemies with both the Prime Minister and the Marquis families in order to alienate his First son and fuel his ambition for the throne. Talk about sad and twisted...
How is it entangled with ancestor in WDBTD? I genuinely don’t think there is such plot there
Yes, I believe in Yummyx3 case, its the long distance relative stretching multiple generations before you. In WDBTD case, it means the originator, an ancient leader/creator/establisher in the cultivation world, not necessarily related by blood. Aside from being extremely powerful, Sima Jiao was from an ancient clan family that gave power and protection to the entire cultivation world, although he was younger than those leaders at the Celestial Palace, everyone still honors him and his family by referring to him as their ancestor or grandmaster.
How is it entangled with ancestor in WDBTD? I genuinely don’t think there is such plot there
Also, lyric in one of the song from WDTBD also have the line "Even if this life is doom to endless calamity, I still want to be entangled with you, through all lifetimes, unchanging..."
I've been hung up on that line since watching WDTBD, I just thought its really romantic lol
I'm wondering why Ji Bo Zai poisoned Ming Yi when they were fighting in the competition (Ep1) because that was going overboard as he already was going to win. It seems like so far, it's just speculation on her part, perhaps the one who poisoned her was someone else? Can someone who read the novel please enlighten/spoil me a little on that?
Julian is one of the best hk stars! Am only watching the show because of him… 😍😍😍
Yes! Triumph in the Skies Season 2 as talented, charismatic and flirty Captain Koo. Another one of my fave! 🥰
For sure, Anita Yeun is one very lucky woman. They married for like maybe over 20 years now and relationship still going strong to this day. This couple is one out of all the rare celeb couples out there that proves true love does exist in the entertainment industry.
He is insanely charismatic.. He's got such fluidity and an aura that is so cool. It's my first time seeing him…
I'm glad you like him. He definitely have a unique aura no one can mimic. You may enjoy watching him during his younger days in dramas like Point of No Return or Take My Word For It where he plays the funny, boyish troublemaker but always has heart in the right place kind of guy. Or even earlier in Legend of the Conder Hero 1994 as naive and cute Guo Jing. What I also love about most of the roles he plays was that they often have strong emotional growth and character developments where he learns, and matures
I am so annoyed they not only dubbed Julian Cheung's voice but also killed off his chara, Crazy Yan and his sister after their reunion. Their bonding time were so short-lived. And then sicko Kai Yan got off with absorbing all his Internal power too. Super irritated and not so optimistic about the ending now 😡
(Just me being biased toward Julian Cheung) He may be much older now but he is still good looking and I still can't help but enjoy watching him on screen. This just reminded be to catch up on the other TVB dramas that hes been in the past years.
