The only thing that’s more atrocious than 8 feet ghost’s costume is Bona’s acting. She was giving 😐 90% of the time. Whenever there was a scene between her and any side character, they gave more expressions than she gave the whole drama. She has that stiff expression in every drama she has appeared in so no, I refuse to give her the benefit of the doubt that her character was written like that. Heck even the girl from Single’s inferno was better than her. Girl is so pretty but can’t act to save her life. I really want to like her but I can’t take that same straight face in every scene. Not giving her dramas any more chances in the future. There are so many talented actors out there but idols who can’t act take up lead roles and just ruin the whole experience. I started this because the plot was right up my alley regardless of her bad acting in Joseon Attorny. It was an okay watch though. They dragged it out in the last few episodes. I fast forwarded half of the time but I didn’t miss any major plot points. I didn’t find the main lead’s romance interesting. I found the King and Queen’s chemistry more compelling, even though it was shown only briefly. The bromance between the king and ML was the most fun to watch.

I would be annoyed if anyone else did the same thing as Kian. I have watched Kian and Dex in India before and Kian fully immersed himself in the culture without any prejudice. So since it’s Kian I don’t think he meant it in a degrading sense. It’s a bit annoying but I’m not offended at all.
I was hesitant to start this because the last time I watched Bona in a sageuk, her acting was really bad. She seems to have improved. I’m glad I gave this a shot. I’m enjoying this.

I think it depicted life in rural Asian countries perfectly. This drama felt just like the stories my grandma used to tell me about her life. No character was all bad/‘evil’. As the show progresses, it reveals more about what actually happened. There are lots of flashbacks. The characters are far from just black and white.
When I saw the trailer for this drama with IU in it, I knew it was going to break me. I broke down watching the wedding scene. The actors who played Gwan Sik are perfect for the role.

The unnecessary bickering between two flawless intelligent characters felt forced. Their motivation behind constantly trying to outsmart each other was weak/unconvincing to me. The rivalry felt forced so I didn’t enjoy the back and forth between them. Also they wasted too much screen time on unnecessary tension (marriage refusal) between them which made it boring. I’m on first sister’s arc now. I’m really enjoying it.
I’m probably gonna get heat for this.. I find the back and forth between Chai An and Kang ning incredibly forced and boring. I really wanna love this drama, the cast is a visual treat. Hopefully I’ll find the other sisters’ storyline interesting.
