Hopefully he quickly changes to the softer sweet Seojun like on the webtoon I feel it’d just really ruin the…
I honestly think even now there's so much depth to Seojun's character in the drama... even with the mean douche bag identity, he still seems like a nice person especially with his mom. Him bickering with Jugyeong with their moms and his clumsy sides, he has a lot of sides that just get oppressed often by his anger for Suho... but they still show. I guess right now he's playing with Jugyeong but I think those other sides of him will keep showing up again.
I haven't started watching this drama, but I see many clips on Instagram; I also read the webtoon. Its been a…
Yeah I have been reading the webtoon since it originally started and it seems like they're taking the basic premise of the story (girl gets bullied for her looks, resorts to make up, gets found out by a popular handsome guy, Seojun and Suho's backstory with Seyeon + the characters) but they're adding their own changes to the drama. The webtoon and the drama ARE drastically different other than that, a lot of things as you mentioned changed. It's an adaptation so the screenwriter took creative liberty. I'm so far liking the drama more than the webtoon, but I guess that's subjective :)
At first, I don't like how the bullying on the 1st school of Joo Gyung is too much and she doesn't even fight…
Totally agree with you... as for Jugyeong's bullying I think it's that in South Korea (and like many other countries) authorities do not do much if you report them and that's really unfortunate... so ig Jugyeong was just stuck being their shuttle and under control. As for Suho, yes I disagree with the abusive part it's a bit overboard... I guess they're trying to come at it from "haha it's all playful" kinda vibe, even when Suho ordered her to bring things after he found out about her identity. But I'm glad that there was that confrontation scene in the rain. It really pointed out the "hey youu might think this is fun and games and romantic, but it actually hurts me a lot" side bc ig Suho learned his lesson and apologized to her. I guess that made up for it a little but yea I still disagree with it. I can't choose which team tho hahaha Seojun is one good competition I'll tell ya!
it makes me laugh how there are so many reviews already and we're only on episode 4 lmao apparently they're mostly…
Agree! they're only taking the basic idea from the webtoon so it's too quick to judge. adaptations are up to the screenwriters' creative liberty so let's just wait till the end to see their creativity :)
So far my fav episode is 2...Lets see will further episodes surpass my expectations or not...What about you guys…
I really like Ep. 4... especially the moments between Seojun and Jugyeong and their moms... both are so cute and bickering with each other :) plus the motorcycle scene! my favorite tho is when Jugyeong's sister gets drunk and threw up on Suho haha their reactions were so funny!
I started reading the webtoon True Beauty from the beginning again and dang a lot of things have changed... I forgot many things but I think they're using the overall premise and characters for the drama and the little details changed. For example I completely forgot that Suho was the one who transferred to the school in the webtoon, while in the drama, Jugyeong is the one who transfers. There are so many changes, more changes than I thought... Either way, I think I like the drama way better than the webtoon. The webtoon is eh, okay, kinda bland tbh and it's been dragged on for too long now but the story is fine. With the drama however, maybe bc they only have 16 episodes but the action and the plot is quick and there's no dragging on stuff, every scene has a purpose. I'm enjoying the drama way better than the webtoon, but the webtoon's still good too... I think in both of them we might end up with Suho tho... I mean I don't know but that's what it seems like to me :(
it's just me or eunwoo's acting is the same since my id is gangnam beauty? he always poker face even when he needs…
it might be different opinions but I felt like he improved a lot in true beauty. I think the poker face expressions are how his character is bc it's the same in the webtoon, but I really saw that Eunwoo has improved when we saw that jiu jitsu scene or when he got angry about Dan Oh and Baek Kyung kissing at the movie theater :)
guess who listened to that little clip of Seojun singing How Do You Do by Seyeon (Chani) like for hours now :( and with Chani's voice as well from the rooftop scene with Suho listening to it :( I'm honestly ngl, the one thing I'll probably take the most away from the webtoon is Suho, Seojun and Seyeon's friendship. Even in the webtoon, it was the part that I liked more than the love triangle or etc. it just makes me so sad that Seyeon could've been helped... in the drama with the little snippets we saw with Seojun talking with Seyeon, crying at his funeral and asking a tearful Suho to bring his friend back... their acting was so powerful... I hope it continues that way and I hope Seojun and Suho heal well from what happened <3
this might just be me but I feel like empty and this weird feeling that's worse then just "missing them" or "waiting for the next episode" I especially feel it with Seojun, I miss him so much and I feel weird on the inside that I'm not watching an episode with him rn
so.... i was expecting this drama to cut out of a lot of seojun/jugyeong scenes bc suho is obviously the ml but…
yea true but imo I think they still managed to establish the chemistry between Seojun and Jugyeong especially by making their moms meet. for me Seojun and Suho seem so equal idk who to choose :/
I like this drama. Can you give any other suggestions? Or webtoons to read? I just got attacked by Hwang In-Yeop…
Dramas: School 2017, Extraordinary You, My ID is Gangnam Beauty (for Eunwoo!), 18 Again (for In Yeop!).
Webtoons: (these are not like in the same genre as true beauty, but they're still excellent webtoons! I hope you'll like them) Freaking Romance, My Dear Cold Blooded King, Midnight Poppy Land, and My Deepest Secret!!
Thank You like omg I am getting serious second lead syndrome like bruh I team Jugyeong Suho in the webtoon but…
I do agree, I hope that they do bring awareness to the "true beauty" aspect of the drama and more awareness on suicide with Seyeon's character. So far the screenwriters are doing such an amazing job with balancing the lightheartedness of the rom com while sprinkling in some tough subjects here and there :)
I have never had this much second lead syndrome. Not even start up, she was pretty, or any other strong second lead syndrome can beat this drama EVER. Literally it's not even like Seojun is the second male lead; I feel like Suho and Seojun are both main male leads, we have two of them. The best part of it is both of them have top notch chemistry with Jugyeong, that I don't even care who she ends up with. I'd be completely fine :) I honestly love drama Seojun much more than webtoon Seojun. drama Seojun is much more quirky and caring, and is so soo handsome. Same with Suho as well, webtoon Suho was imo a bit more blank than drama Suho, who really seems passionate and can be the character more livelier. I honestly love Seojun and Jugyeong's friendship so much especially when they're at their mothers' presence! They're soo cuute. But I love Suho and Jugyeong's little moments like the comic store, the study group, etc. This is what I mean!!!!!¡ I freaking can't CHOOSE!!!!! Last thing: LOVED THE EXTRAORDINARY YOU CAMEO OMG!! It's adorable bc True Beauty is a webtoon too :)))) Dan Oh is still looking for Haru and Baek Kyeong is still chasing her :D overall loved this episode!!!
Webtoons: (these are not like in the same genre as true beauty, but they're still excellent webtoons! I hope you'll like them) Freaking Romance, My Dear Cold Blooded King, Midnight Poppy Land, and My Deepest Secret!!
