So I ended up here because of Hwang In Yeop but ended up staying because of Lee Do Hyun. Wow what an amazing talent he is. I am excited to see more of him because he's not just a pretty face, that young man can act. Okay? Now back to Hwang In Yeop he's completely adorable in True Beauty and I loved him in Why. Wow.
This drama is underrated. I enjoyed it. I have laughed, cried, been angry, cried some more, smiled and just melted. Especially the ending. There's enough happy ending to go around the world 10 times. Happy ending for everybody. Love it. This is going on my list of favorites. How did I miss this one in 2020. I had no idea this would be so amazing. I'm still crying.
I'm loving this for 1000000 reasons. Fresh. Creative. Intriguing. It's giving me Flower of Evil/It's Okay To Not Be Okay vibes. The FL is eccentric, smart and not to be trifled with while at the same time seeming to be vulnerable and a bit clueless at times (but we know she's not). I love the way her mind works. I love how you can't really call what she's thinking. And that Kim Young Dae - Okkkkk?? Sign me up for the fan club. Sir who gave you the permission?
Totally agree with you. Didn’t know that Caesar Wu was that handsome until I watched this drama. I went and…
Yes. Mr. Wu is break neck fine for sure. Like I did not think he was all that to be playing the playboy of F4 but umm this Mr. Wu showed me the error of my ways lol.
It was just a misunderstanding! Both sides were fooled by that nasty piece of shi* manager of the sfl. Won't spoil…
Ohhhh. Got it. Thanks. Now some of her behaviors make sense because she was acting wronged and victimized too. I get it now. Okay then I can feel at ease with because I was feeling some kind of way. Lol.
I need help understanding something. I am enjoying this because it's cute but the 2nd FL rubs me wrong and I don't understand how she ends up with the sweet baby brother. Did she not steal the FL's comic and become famous off of claiming credit for it? Was she not trying to make the FL feel like she was beneath her and wanted to poach her for her talent because her talent was fading. I mean she is not a nice person. Did I miss her redemption. Did she apologize, admit her wrong. Am I the only one who wanted her to be dealt with about that or am I missing something? Okay I'm done. I'm sorry. My sense of justice can be a bit strong sometimes. Uggh..
I started off loving this. It's sweet but the best friend of the FL has sent my pressure way high. Listen I understand tenacity but her pursuit of the 2nd ML makes me cringe. The whole scenario is so unrealistic because if it were me being harassed on my job, blackmailed into keep you as my employee because of some video, you forcing your way into my home, chasing me around when I'm meeting with other men - that charges worthy. I mean if her character were a man doing these things. Her behaviors are quite creepy. And my goodness if somebody don't want you. Why want someone you've got to force or wear down into liking you. I mean I don't want that. Does this kind of behavior equal sincerity or what? I mean somethings you work hard for but I ain't working this hard for a man to be with me. It's ridiculous. And the lil chick who started the company with the ML. How many times does he have to say you're like my sister. Eww he don't want you.
Ugghhh. My pressure is so high. These things drive me insane. Like there is a point at which you should let go. Save yourself some dignity and consider the other person. To me it's selfish. If you like someone respect their space like their job, their home, their privacy. I mean goodness.
Okay. Rant over. I so want to finish this and I probably will but I am only making it by fast forwarding through the scenes with the best friend chasing what's his name and going passed the chick working at the company and her scheming self. The desperation. That's not love that's obsession.
My only complaint is, it ended too soon. Too soon. Tooooooo sooooon. I need more of Qin Shen and his cuteness. I mean this was the sweetest. I'm really sad it's over.
Hi Jamila, while I don't watch CYLS, I can imagine that you got SLS/Second Lead Syndrome (or the new term now…
Oh. Second Lead Blues is a term of my own lol. And I didn't really know about the dubbing part. I still consider myself new to Asian dramas. I just started watching in September of 2019. At this point I'm still enamored and intrigued with how beautiful the men so I haven't gotten to the place of being extra picky about much of anything. Thanks for your response. Thanks for the article.
While on YouTube I kept seeing this drama pop up. I finally gave in and watched because I remember the ML from Count Your Lucky Stars and remembered having SML Blues bad because I wanted him to get the girl. I felt he deserved the girl because he was just sugar sweet. And I'm glad I watched this. I was pleasantly surprised concerning every aspect of this drama. At first the whiny voice of the FL wore me out but it annoyed me less as the drama went on. This one was so sweet. Loved all of it.
So glad to see Miles Wei as he ML because I had the SML blues real bad after watching Count Your Lucky Stars. I'm still salty about him not getting the girl - he deserved to get the girl. Sweetest SML ever.
When they revealed that Kang bae was so in so I was very impressed by the way they relieved it. I could already…
Agreed. I knew he was important and even guessed it but the way they revealed it was stellar. It's like they took the obvious but was yet still able to surprise the viewers. I loved it.
This was absolutely the perfect role for Hwang Jung Eum - if you've ever been put off by her style in other dramas…
I completely agree. I decided to start following her after this and after watching some of her other dramas I am glad I saw this first because I would have been hesitant to do so. I even watched To All The Guys to Loved Me thinking it would be fantastic with her - NOPE. But there is something about the style of this drama, the writing and her character that was the perfect blend and everything just worked well and the cast WOW!!! Amazing.
Just started this drama i like all the characters i just wish the main female lead would listen to her master…
Just started it as well and I agree right now the FL is my main problem. Like she is super hard headed and clueless. Like if you respect this man as your teacher listen. If you want to be a help don't do dumb stuff to get yourself hurt or killed but no her brain is wired to hear nothing and charge forward into stupidity. I hope it gets better but as it stands she is werkin my nerves. I intend to hold on tho because the ML is one of my favorite young Chinese actors.
i wanna say that i agree with you.... for the first 1-3 episodes i was impressed by the FL coz she seemed smart…
Thanks for your comments but it took me a while before I dropped it. I was beyond episode 12. I loved this drama from the beginning. They portrayed her character as smart, in charge and strong - defending her mom - even sacrificing herself to marry the general in the face of all the rumors about him. But afterwards some of her antics were just a lil childish to me. She does things without thinking about how it will affect him which is quite selfish in my personal opinion. I was hoping she would continue to be that strong independent yet loving woman standing by his side. It's just my own opinion. I held on as long as I could - she just annoys me but that's me. I still love the drama and plan to pick it up as I stated before but again I was beyond episode 12 when I decided to let it go.
There are just things realistically speaking I wouldn't do. Like her pitching a fit at the camp in front of his soldiers, those are personal matters. Her doing things to endanger his life and job because she just does whatever without thinking at times. Her pitching a fit about who supposedly wants him on the verge of creating disasters - sometimes she's just over the top for me that's all but it is what it is. The character is written like that but for me it's just annoying.
Was 2009-2010 the year of celebrating dysfunctional/abusive relationships? Asking for a friend? This? Boys Over Flowers? I mean at least in Boys Over Flowers the FL has some sense of self-dignity. This child's self-esteem, self-worth, self-dignity is in the basement and never came out beyond the 1st floor. I'm just saying. Maybe it's just me. I don't know.
I started this drama because I was completely mesmerized with how beautiful Caesar Wu looked in historical garments. I mean he looked so different I couldn't believe it was the same guy from Meteor Garden. I was enjoying it and then the FL just started to wear my nerves thin. I understand they say she was spoiled but I figured by now there would be some development in her character. I've waited to pick it back up and the first episode back I see it's the same. At any rate, I'm going to go back and try again but the FL character is truly wearing me out. Like all the way out.
This was 56 episodes of doing wayyyyyyy too much. Seriously. Mike Angelo was my reason for staying. I like the SML too and I remember the FL from Love 020 and always thought she was so cute. The drama though. I think while planning it went something like this. How much angst would you like this drama to have? All. I mean the merry-go-round and this whole entitled rich people thing where you can do dirt without feeling an ounce of remorse and then have the nerve to want to make others pay for you getting caught in your mess foolishness is wearing me out. I mean really - this trope is worrisome and tiresome. Like how you gonna lie, scheme, cover up and be the victim all at the same time.
At any rate. Though I skipped around a lot of the angst and drama, the ending is satisfying. The lead couple is cute. Mike Angelo has a way of making you feel his passion and I think that's because he seems to be a very passionate and emotional man in general. He has a sexy charm about him. The SML he's so adorable. I didn't understand his devotion to the SFL.. I just didn't get it.
