It was about time in this utterly tragic Chinese drama year that we get a great looking badass 1st female lead...
On a side note: General Villain here has one very interesting face expression. Is he smiling, smirking or is he not smiling, smirking? I really don’t know... For a number of episodes now, he has the same perpetual face expression.
The most disturbing things about the 1st season of these web series were the ill fitted wardrobes and the cheap wigs...:) They looked like they were rented, lended or borrowed for the filming. Like an under-budget high school drama production...
I really don’t know what to make of these web series...
They had the potential to be as good as the Eternal Love series; however, somehow along the way they just went to a weird place... The male lead acted throughout the series like an automated dummy and the 2 female leads were respectively annoying in each of their individual way. Or was it the lines that were provided to them that were annoying?... IDK...
The supporting actors and actresses had better acting skills than all of the 3 main leads combined. They provided some necessary comic relief to a somehow strange storyline.
*Season 2 and 3 should have been named “Doctor at Large” not “Princess at Large.”
I actually like Zhang Huiwen much better here, I really disliked how she portrayed her character in NIF2. IMHO…
I agree the doctor’s character that Zhang Huiwen portrayed in NIF 2 was too emotionless, too icy and I even used to call her Dr. Iceberg...
In this drama, I think she has improved a little bit. I mean; it is not remarkable but enough to see the difference. As for Allen Ren, It is interesting to watch both of his goofy and stoic characters... I always appreciate actors and actresses who venture into roles outside of their comfort zones.

:) RIO must be a big brandname drink in China. I don’t think that I have seen a modern Chinese drama in the fairly recent years without some types of RIO drinks as product placements in them. Darn... I even want to taste the damn thing...
It is amazing how well Jin Han can portray both protagonist and antagonist characters. I always get goosebumps by his portrayals. Jin Han is able to convey complex emotions from both sides of the spectrum. We hate him with rage when he plays the villain... And we go head over heels gaga for him when he plays the good guy... His ability at adapting to all sorts of characters is far beyond than most seasoned actors out there.
Exactly like in his previous projects, “No Secrets” is just another example of his acting skills. Whenever his character was not in a scene, he was utterly missed. Jin Han truly earned and deserves more major 1st lead roles.

This actor, Xue Hao Wen, plays the character - Gu Tao so well that I am catching myself sympathizing with a drug manufacturer, a drug trafficker, an arms dealer and a murderer... I am conflicted about Fang Han/Fang Mo helping him with his predicaments or sending him to prison.
Even with all the hypes and the huge budget “The Thunder” got; I find that this drama “Never Say Never” has a much better execution, dynamic and flow. The storyline, the production and the general acting of the entire cast are really well done.
Qin Jun Jie is really consistent with his character and he is a far much better actor than Johnny Huang (Sorry Johnny). I watched “The Thunder” because I had enjoyed “When a Snail Falls in Love;” however, “Never Say Never” is by far my favorite.

I mean this is a catastrophic bloody murder scene...

On the other hand, Lee Jong Suk is the definition of the classical and stereotypical handsome but there is absolutely nothing sexy or manly about him.
Once we completely ignore the female lead’s presence; Sparrow is irrevocably the best spy drama to me as well.
