I have been spoiled this summer… They gave me a great Wuxia… “Love like the Galaxy.” They gave me a very entertaining and a very endearing Xianxia… “Love Between Fairy and Devil.” And let us not forget the one and only Xianxia/Wuxia/Sageuk/Everything in between and outside of the box… “Alchemy of Souls.”
So now, nothing is satisfying to me. Certainly not “Immortal Samsara.”

I am sorry but I can not feel a real connection nor any real chemistry between the 2 main leads. It feels strange that she finally gives up and becomes his concubine… Just because… As for the CP, I seriously have no attachment to his character… He has been a bit of a jerk… My thing about the CP character is that sense of entitlement which I find unattractive about him. I guess because he is an imperial prince; they are born with that sense of entitlement on everything and on everyone. Then we have the forever morose and obsessive glorified bodyguard… Who has been stalking the FL forever, now… With the obvious “Folie de grandeur” of inheriting the throne for himself.
I am like, “Ahhh now, I remembered why I dropped this.” I thought that drama would be like, “Jewel in the Palace…” But they didn’t showcase enough of the ancient Chinese culinary and the ancient Chinese medical practices. I thought that drama would be like, “Female Prime Minister…” But they didn’t showcase any intense and any interesting intrigues nor a similar unconditional romance between the 2 main leads. So to conclude, that drama is just an another sort of food vibe version of “Story of Yanxi Palace…” Which I also dropped because it was so incredibly boring to me.
Actually I never thought that her character was immature. When she was weak she knew not to provoke and I call that self-preservation. And when she loves… Man! She loves. She is not indecisive; she is not flaky; she is not feeble; she is not wishy-washy… The Asian film industry tends to attach these not so attractive characters with their FLs. I just loved that they went with a different approach (A more endearing and a more refreshing one…) with our FL’s character, here.
I even appreciated the writing behind the second ML/love-rival. And I really really really hate love-rivals with their intrusive and disrespectful 2nd MLs.
Let me guess : you can't stand her voice and mannerisms now 😎😅 we all went through this 😬
This Xianxia is the opposite of your regular Xianxia storylines where they start strong but halfway through; they run out of fuel… This started not so strong but good grief… It kept improving with each episode. I have never been a Dylan’s fan ever since Ever Night 2’s fiasco but I will certainly keep an eye on him for now on… And as for the actress who played the FL… She actually became very endearing, even with that weird baby-voice. All in all, it was a beautiful romance.
PS: Some of the costumes are some of the most ridiculous looking wardrobes that I have watched in any drama… But they were entertaining🤣😂😅
Wow… This Xianxia started rather mediocre, at first. Then, it simply got better and better and better. I even stopped noticing how annoying the FL’s baby-voice was. Lastly, we have Dylan Wang… I have never been a fan of his acting… However, I have to admit that he has really improved… A whole lot. kudos🎉🎉
As much as I enjoyed watching Angelababy and Edward‘s almost candid chemistry in their scenes… However, my 2 favorite characters in this very light Chinese version of Something in the Rain are… Qin Yi Ran - Yi Ke's bestie and Chen Ye - Guang Xi's boss. These 2 unapologetically uncompromising characters stole the show for me… Including his little son’s character.
Am I the only one who is equally irritated by both the immature younger brother AND the incompetent and unskilled wannabe YouTuber? I had high hopes for her delusional fairy a$$ after the FL gave her a chance with a job… Even with the most insufficient resume… EVER… But she still betrayed her for a second time. I could try to understand the father and the brother who apparently are still stuck in the Song dynasty. However not this tattletale of a delusional id$$t who should have been much more broader-minded; as an ex-overseas female student, a career woman and a supposedly “popular YouTuber.”
I still like this lighter version of the well-made “Something in the Rain.” However even with the good chemistry between the FL and the ML… The original Korean version remains my favorite.
on the third episode right now and I hope there is some good character development for the princess coz so far,…
I am just about to drop this. The FL in Love Like a Galaxy… That was some good writing and a truckload of great sassiness. Even with her character being at the tender age of 15 years old… The FL’s character here is simply annoying, unamusing and borderline obnoxious.
First, I really love… I mean that I really really really love Zheng Ye Cheng’s acting style, stage presence, charisma and performances. And the man always looks mighty dashing in costume dramas. Whether, how low or how high the production budgets might be… We can be sure that Zheng Ye Cheng will always bring his A game, exactly like Leo Wu with his own released productions.
On the other hand, we have Crystal Yuan… She is like a cereal toy… We never know what we are going to get from her… For me, her acting style is too unpredictable. I found her persona too stiff and too unrelatable in Ever Night 1 and in Listening Snow Tower. However, I loved her performance in Love and Redemption. Here in My Sassy Princess, as unpredictable as ever; her acting is not that well executed and the writing behind her character is simply obnoxious.
I am giving this low budget costume drama one more episode; solely because of Zheng Ye Cheng… If the FL’s acting and the writing behind her character remain unchanged… Then, that is a DROP for me.
On one hand; we have the dashing, the sexy and the ever so charming XuXu… On the other hand; the storyline, the supposedly villain/big brother and the general acting are simply idiotic…
What to do? Keep on watching the drama for XuXu and wishing that the FL was instead, the villain/big brother’s little sister who freshly came back from abroad and not the uninteresting and immature actual FL. So sad, this series could have been really good.
Excellent drama👏🏼🎉🎉🎊 Great cast, great writing, great directing, great editing. Leo was phenomenal… This kid simply never disappoints. Best performance that I have seen from Rosy, so far.

His crying scenes were very well done.
I really didn’t think that the kid had it in him. I am impressed.

I was drinking a Pepsi while watching this Chinese version and I felt, like I was betraying the drama😅🤣😂
