Apparently I saw some posts talking about how the clothes Yo Han was wearing is different from the one the murderer is wearing. (The murderer has looser pants and longer coat while Yo han is wearing shorter and tighter clothes)
SYH is probably the one that JBR and Chi Gook helped. Maybe the preview scene where SYH hurt his head isn't in the present, but like some kinda flashback from how he got saved.
Regardless, look at him in that scene. His eyes, those aren't the eyes of a psychopath.
I think this is ploy set up by our dear detective team to lure the culprit... in the preview, isn't Dong Goo the person who brought in what the "culprit sent"? It seems suspicious how everyone in the team had a role to play... JBR as the fake murderer, DG as the messager, and CHJ and KMC as the two in front of the camera.
I think it's an act to make the actual culprit feel 'offended' and angry, and cause him to make a 'silly mistake.'
But I feel like SYH is going to end up as a scapegoat of some sort though......

I hereby state that Sung Yo Han and Koo Dong Goo is the culprit and accomplice of Chi Kook's (near)death, respectively.

The person who was with the prison's doctor might be Yo Han, and he has probably been there since God knows when, and came in contact with DG then. They are both 'visitors', it isn't an unusual sight that they meet each other.
Only DG and JBR knows about how precious the watch is to Chi Kook. DG may have spilled the tea to YH.
I saw some of you ask the question, "shouldn't JBR have checked the equipments before bringing it up to stage"?
As a fellow magican, he could have told JBR, "I've already checked whatever equipments we have, they are all okay." JBR probably wouldn't think much of it, and just thank him or something without going to check the equipments a second time.
BUT I don't think Dong Goo knows the death of Chi Kook.
You see, DG probably wouldn't intentionally harm Chi Kook, right? They're such close friends...
He seemed genuinely shocked and upset regarding Dong Goo
Dong Goo might have been tricked into luring Chi Kook to Yo Han. He might have been tricked into giving information about the watch. He might have been tricked into giving clearance for the equipments.
People; geniuses, psychopaths or otherwise, can be manipulative. Just that for the former two... it might be easier for them to pull the deceit off. ;)
When Dong Goo grabbed Yo Han's collar in the hospital, his eyes was full of rage and anger. Would you have such a reaction just over a few words a doctor spoke, to the extend of shoving your good friend onto the ground?
Plus, it was quite a delayed reaction he had. Notice that when Yo Han was speaking, Dong Gu was still sitting on the floor, just staring at him. Only when JBR talked to YH, DG ran over and grabbed YH.
Lastly, the way Yo Han stared at Dong Goo, the way Dong Goo backed down after meeting his eyes...
At first we didn’t know who the one choking jaehoon was. Now that we compare HH’s wife in the second episode…
It's the hair and everything. I'm getting convinced that they're the same person, which is why the more I think about JBR=headhunter's son=Jae Hoon=the person who said he became a monster, the more I contradict my own statements and the more confused I become.
But during the scene where KMC confronted the wife of the HH, the voice of the kid that called out "mom" was different from Jae hoon's voice. Maybe they're trying to trick us.
When CHJ PD cut JBR off before he could reveal the victims identity, it shows that she knows that it's SYH.
