I began to notice him in JoL, he had a rather small role, but manage to steal the spotlight everytime, if this was an Idol cast he will be typecasted as the dorky side kick of the goodlooking aloof and cool ML, I'm glad that quirky, talkactive but adorable characters like Ning Yi get the chance to shine.
And he got detailed acting, from his facial expression to his body movement

I was both laughing and awwing at the same time.. Ning Yi looking so happy and amused by his wife antics

I think its understandable that people may feel reluctant to watch this drama because the ML that may be deemed unattractive or because of the author of the novel scandal, because for me my deal braker honestly are : stiff and one dimensional acting no matter how attractive they are (ML and FL), childish and over the top FL, boring and overused plotlines. I guess it just a matter of preference.

I LOVE IT! Its honestly one of the few currently aired drama that I truly enjoy... the ML is adorable, witty, smart and he is so caring and gentle to his wife. Maybe I'm biased because I love Joy of Life, but I truly love this kind of untypical but equally adorable ML. Love the story you cant help but to root for him and his wife to overcome all the obstacles and cunning people around them.

When Awu dispelled the two maids in Ningshou for being disrespectful, I thougt she was smart dan good at judging people character/bad intention, but I guess not..

Couldn't agree more... just the way XQ look at his wife, smile at her, tease her and the way he touch her and vice versa are very sensual without being over the top.. I know that idol drama is all the rage in C drama right now, but more romance drama should give more lead to mature actors

Yes to think that he is such a shy fluff ball in real life, the complete opposite of the calm and charismatic general XQ, goes to show his talent and depth in portraying a character..

I was hopinh its one sided love out of admiration, and then he realize that it is wrong and try very hard to bury his love, and let yx enter his heart, because we can not control feelings sometimes, but if it turn into obssesion then its creepy.

Aaah I'm crying already.. damn C period drama and their fetish for tragedy, but I am the fool for falling over and over again..

Aah Thank you.. it would break my heart the day Song betray XQ their bromance and commeradeship is wonderful.. I could only imagine the many battle they had together. It would very painful for XQ too.
I wonder what would be the reason for his betrayal? Power? Money? Jealosy?

IKR, I should have waited till they aired the last ep, before getting invested in the character and story. At the very least, I hope that XQ wont marry again or have concubine for whatever reason..

I am very invested in the story so far, I hope it won't fall in the tragedy category like so many big budget C period drama where almost everyone die, and the one who survive life in loneliness (yes, I have trust issue with C drama) :p
For anyone who had read the novel could you please spoil me on a few things :

1. After the CP, will the 2nd prince be the emperor or XQ, I have a feeling that the CP reign wont be that long, coz he is kindda dumb?

2. Will General Song turn against XQ, or will be forever loyal?

3. Will XQ take concubine? Coz that would a deap breaker for me.

Well, you could always vent here.. I ask so many questions here, because as a non chinese speaking viewers trying to watch them raw that kindda unavoidable lol.. , but there are so many helpful people explaining things.
