Yesss I'm always so glad when female stars have big fandoms to defend them, because like it or not they're prone to harassment from actors' fandoms. JY's fans aren't many compared to other popular actress but I hope it's still growing even if, say (hypothetically), she didn't take traffic route.

Do we need to watch ALP before watching this? I'm terrible with xianxias but really want to see this one. I wonder if ALP would serve as good introduction to the genre.

Watching this purely for the aesthetic. I loooveee the blending of traditional style in modern setting (just like Zhousheng Chen's family in Forever and Ever. If there's any drama that has this element please kindly suggest me one). The set are gorgeous. Acting was so-so. SunQian is cute as always but her character wasn't lovable enough. Story wise it was on the lighter side. Reminds me of old school shoujo manga actually it might be better if this was a manga.

Oh if you want to see more of ZJY I recommend putting Fall in Love in your watch list (but don't watch it now that your mind still on ZJY&CFY pair lol). It also has revenge plot. Both ML and FL are really smart in scheming. Kisses are real and good and has right tension of enemy to lovers trope. It also has gorgeous wardrobes.
Ep 35 was a total roller coaster of emotion. Also I have to say Xu Lina's actress really did a good job portraying her character (and a very nice change from the novel, too). She's the character who surprised me the most. Also, Zhu Yun is really the best girl in c-dramaland.
Finally, finished watching L&P and I was very satisfied with how everything tied, perhaps because I didn't have any high expectation, but it was a really good drama overall. ZJY has always been one of my favorite actress since I saw her in Fall in Love and Love Will Tears Us Apart, I didn't doubt her acting. Haven't seen any of CFY's work since Ever Night so it was a nice surprise. And my gosh their chemistry is too stronk.
