Title The Wolf Spoiler
Just finished the series! My poor lil heart :( The sad was sad but boy was that happy HAPPYYYY!!!!! Still, not…
R.I.P. Ma Zhai Xing...For most of the drama you were, like the emperor used to say, "the bane of my existence" lol. In your last scenes you finally made a retribution and made me sad for the end of your story with the wolf boy :( I still don't love you, though :)) But after your death Bo Wang told the audience directly the main message of the drama's story - to teach and show that inhumane are the people hungry for power and full of obsessions that distort them and make them monsters. It was really more of the wolf boy story - an innocent person being under the control of the wicked but with the help of others coming out of everything without changing the essence of his soul. It could be any kind of a soulmate to help him on the way and this drama chose a love interest but it was nice he learned love from other people, too(though there should've been more screen time with some of them). They had the message ready from the start, I just didn't like the mains' journey that much and who they were for a big part of the show...Anyway, those scenes were sad and well done, they managed to conclude the development of the characters (which, again, was missing for me in the middle of the drama)
As for the happy part!!!! Lord, help me to express my happiness because I just can't with simple words!!!!!!! <33333 The final scene of Ji Chong and Bao Na.....I jumped out form my seat from joy and excitement!!! How perfect can this beeeee????? I'm gonna scream to the skies, this is a happy ending for meeee!!! Cheers to everyone, the brightest two stars in the show survived and are going on a journey! "Pack your things because you're coming with me to wander around the world" Wel well, Ji Chong, even if you asked how can I say no? ahahaha And Bao Na, my sweetie <3 You were so annoying at the beginning, to be honest xD, and THEN what a turn of events - you exceeded everyone's expectations, you blew them away! At least mine...She had so many quote-worthy lines, so many strong moments at a certain part of the series....She became the bravest character, she actually helped the main characters so much, she threw all risk away, she was straight up destroying people with her words when they deserved it! You were That Bish but you did it so well and without any ill intentions! This is what I call a character glow up! And then...when she started liking Ji Chong she, of course, took actions into her own hands (as always <3) but it wasn't like with Bo Wang. She learned when to stay back and show true care...like...You grab my heart with every scene and make me laugh so much! And Ji Chong...I wrote so much about him already...He deserves the good that's coming for him! This is how you make and develop a character, let him be the example, he's certainly mine. And then you give him a happy ending and an unexpected (romantic) companion because you just...have to!
And after their scene, that I rewatched10 times probably...Yao Jiiii!!! I can't believe! From the moment her story started revealing to be a sad one I was SURE she was not going to survive. But she was spared! And she deserves this so much! Who has a bigger heart than her? She turned out to be a good and honorable person through and through! And she became a doctor for poisons...how sweet <3 I want her to find happiness in life and stop being so sad, she is a prescious human being!
It was a nice bittersweet ending that unexpectedly turned out to be more sweet than bitter. All the people I cared about came out of this journey alive and well and there is so much hope for their future ^^ I want a second season with Ji Chong, Bao Na and even Yao Ji! Only the main couple didn't make it together to the end....it seemed like a good conclusion to their story but it still was sad to watch Bo Wang and the butterfly before the credits rolled...From what I understand he died soon after to be with Ma Zhai Xing...

Just finished the series! My poor lil heart :( The sad was sad but boy was that happy HAPPYYYY!!!!! Still, not enough, not enough.......I want more, I'm petty, desperate and greedy...Before I make a commentary I'mma change my desktop wallpaper to The Coolest Man (a.k.a Ji Chong)...wish you could see how 10x better my pc became ahahaa Now...my phone wallpaper...just a second...there, perfect :)) <3 So anyway...the series was good! I will give it a 9 - there were moments that didn't deserve my solid 9 because the main leads could have easily bored me to death or someone was behaving like a person with 2 brain cells barely holding up (I'm looking at you, MZX!). But I think it deserves a high rating for the great visuals, the master editing, the aesthetics, the simple but consistent story, the amazing acting and interesting and full of life characters (Yao Ji, Bao Na,Ji Chong<3, the supporting cast was on another level too!). Great character development for my favourite characters! I will miss this show sooo much! I didn't personally wait 3 years for it, but if I did, I would think it was worth it :)
And some spoilers and reactions for the end...

Watched eps 45 and 46. Haven't had so much emotions for a drama in a while (Ji Chong, Bao Na, Yao Ji
Ep. 46 - Bao Naaaaaa, you're back, I love youuu! I really do, just by looking at her I'm happier. Haha, still a favourite of mine, better with every next scene <3 The queen is here <3
Ep.47 : Bao Na to Ji Chong after his oozing of charisma look and speech - "You're the coolest man I've ever seen." The way she looked at him - my girl fell in love right then and there ahahaha. I cracked up, that was so magical, naive, pure and funny at the same time...Yes, Bao Na, yes you got that right, I see you and I are good judges of character and men hahaha You played falling in love better and more beliavable than Ma Zhai Xing in the first episodes!
I didn't expect that scene...after a certain someone's behaviour in a previous one I didn't expect to enjoy the interaction of my two favourite characters under a beautifull starry sky. I'm happy now, I'm good, I'm satisfied, I'm sipping my hot chocolate with a big smile on my face and I'm rewatching that awesome beginning of a relationship again. Even in the start of the scene...Bao Na was like "O my, he must be so sad after parting with MZX" and then the camera moves to Ji Chong looking at the book of beauties ahahahaha gooold I'm so happy that he's so great and free-spirited that right after the break up he's back to being hopeful and wise (not that he ever stopped to). And his words "There are many things in life that are more important than romance and love affairs." DID I HEAR WHAT I JUST HEARD? A character from a romance drama is saying that? Excuse me while I stand up and clap for Ji Chong - the greatest man from a drama, The Coolest Man. PERIOD. FULL STOP. HATS OFF. That was probably my favourite scene till now. My favourite characters....just...I can't *wheeeeee* <3333
And now, a few words for a certain someone...Ma Zhai Xing..you....When The Coolest Man(as I will often refer to him from now on) decided to bring light into your life and tell you the truth about Bo Wang...you...I mean, she, her first reaction was *shocked Pikachu face*(her staple face actually) and then she was screaming, whining "Why did you tell me? Why don't you keep me in the dark? What should I do nooow? *more screaming* *more crying* What do you want, giiiirl? Everytime someone tells you some truth you absolutely refuse to listen and accept, what is your phobia, exactly? Why should everyone do things for you and keep being beside you, protecting you, caring for you, hiding things for you and at the same time be honest, when you feel like it, because last time you realised some things from the past you were screaming bloody hell, trying to explain to everyone you want only the truth and nooow you're like "I'm scared, I want you to continue taking care for me and carry the reponsibility of knowing what is happening." And please, stop shouting to the man that from the beginning is trying to show you the way and is there every step of it. Please have the respect to not shout "enough" to him like a little child when he's having more than enough respect for you to treat you like an adult and tell you everything directly (which even Bo Wang refused. If you haven't seen, almost every person treats you like a little porcelain doll except from Ji Chong, his father and Bao Na when she's in the episode) Stop living in the shadows of others...The aducaity you must have to ask Ji Chong "What should I do now?" and on top of that he as always gave you a ready answer so you don't have to bother yourself. For me, that's not a main lead behaviour - so much screen time should've been given to someone more interesting and beliavable - Bao Na is behaving more like a main lead and is taking the spotlight in the scenes she's participating, she owns them(and I think like that from quite some time). Ji Chong even had to explain her own feelings to herself, to tell her that she loves Bo Wang...oh my He behaved like the greater man in this situation(in the whole series, too), like a gentleman and well done to Xiao Zhan - great acting here!
And then....same with MZX and Yao Ji scene...Yet again someone appears to tell how things are so that after 45 episodes the main heroine learns something. "It seems like you have no idea at all" - aham, yes, she doesn't. "You're not so dumb after all" - the way she looked at MZX, with a bit of disgust and disbelief at the same time, I cracked up hahaha But I'm not sure if she's that intelligent either(MZX)
And then Yao Ji just couldn't keep it and shouted "This is all your fault!" And I mean...not everything that happened is realistically her fault but that's when I lost it and started laughing...that face MZX continued to give from the beginning of the episode....her favourite *shocked Pikachu face* her eyes, her gasp, her deer-in-the headlights look...oh my phhahaha giirl lol Again she realizes she really doesn't know the person Bo Wang is, the love of her life...who is he, his motives, his personality...The romance in this series was there in the beginning episodes and then it was all a mess for me. How can you have a RELATIONship when you don't have basic communication?Loving someone is not enough. Either that changes in the last episodes or it's all for nothin, all for the drama... And MZX is always receving others' knowledge and guidance. What a character! What a lead! For me, Yao Ji was the true partner of Prince Bo(albeit, not a lover). Wish she was given more screen time, the acting of the actress is sooo good, too.(Li Qin's acting is great, too, but it's so often wasted for this character)
At least The Coolest Man is free and Bao Na maybe will be there to accompany him. When you're sensible enough you do get a happy ending :)

I have to agree with you and the examples you give!
Yes, Ji Chong really was her saviour and *sigh* he still is...I'm waiting for the moment when he says "Bye, girl, go to Bo Wang and don't bother me anymore!" I still think exactly because he's smart he will make the right choice for himself, wish he wasn't hurt in the process.
I personally think after going to Chu Kui's palace was not the right time for a romance arc. Because that took away from the character building and coming of age of Ma Zhai Xing and the story as a whole. At least, it shouldn't have been the main focus from that point onward. It was strange that in the beginning Ma Zhai Xing was presented in a certain way - smart and quick-witted, and after meeting Prince Bo, a person she didn't know(because apart from being the wolf from her past, some time ago, he was a completely different person), she was stripped of her personality and talents and became just a lovesick girl. It;s normal to fall in love and "loose" your mind over someone, but the circumstances were too serious then...I think it was done so that the plot can move a certain way - good story telling was somewhat sacrificed so that she feels really betrayed when she finds out the truth...so that from then on she starts hating the ML and the truth is presented as a betrayel from her closest person nd I don't think Prince Bo was shown to be that close to her ever(not like Wolf boy for sure). I have talked about this before, for me the "romance" episodes in the middle (which were pretty one-sided actually) took away from the story that could have taken a more interesting turn if all the cliched scenes didn't happen. Bo Wang could also be given better character building then as well as Yao Ji and their past....I think there were scenes from their past that were cut and maybe that's why Yao Ji doesn't have much screen time.
I have watched more episodes than you so I can't talk about them but you'll see for yourself - Ma Zhai Xing will have some better and worse moments. I still don't like her as a character but I appreciate the good acting from Li Qin :) Have fun watching!

Thank you for explaining! Yeah, seems logical that targeting of that level is done professionaly and the fans' emotions can be used in all this but of course, what is behind the curtains is bigger and more complicated. I'm glad legal action is taken and hope it will be a stepping stone for better problem solving in the future.

I find the character rather boring. No offence intended, but it might be partly due to the actor's lack of charisma…
Well, for me he has the most spice in the whole series ;) And the best done character building. I also love his acting, the acting of Xin Zhi Lei(Yao Ji), the emperor and Li Qin's acting (although her character is not my favourite). Xiao Zhan doesn't have so much experience as them but he seems really natural, no fakenes, no overreaction where it's not needed - he portrays his role I think exactly as it was intended to - sometomes being larger than life, sometimes very human-like . And his charisma and screen presence are for sure what is carrying his talent forward, otherwise without charm it wouldn't be the same end result :)
All actors are actually doing quite well in this series ^^

I seem to have misunderstood some things then, sorry. I thought his fans in general were regular fans liking the actor and singer but there were few that started hating him after the release of a fanfic and created the mess by trying to tarnish his reputation. My take on the nature of what was done remains the same, that it is not right, but yes, I see it was not his fans doing something wrong but other people. I don' t know the case in depth though. I was generally talking about the people that behaved in such a way and if that behaviour led to "ruining" someone's reputation then it is definetely not normal, no matter the age.

Finished Episode 35:I really wanted to feel for Ma Zha Xing but OMG her lack of judgment is really bothering me.…
Agree with you and your examples were on point! Not the first time she uses other people and for example, her army. A little bit before she found out Chu Kui and Bo Wang are responsible for her father's death she was being reckless and irresponsible to them again. Remember episode 25? And that horrendous scene when Prince Bo wanted to teach her battle schemes? And she was laughing, flirting, smiling as if leading an army while never having an experience as a general before was a child's play and in the wake of war all she was thinking was Wolfie. Teenager or not, it's not normal because from a little girl she was raised in a general's family and looked upon as a commandery princess. From the moment she was brought to Chu Kui's palace she was preparing for war...her surroundings should have logically teach her to grow up a little. Ji Chong...I really didn't want him to fall in love with her. He deserved better, I don't know what he saw...I know, love is not logical. Still, at times I'm mad because for me she is not yet worthy of the help and support she receives... At times, Bo Wang is not to my liking as a person anymore than she is. *Sigh*

Well well well xD That changes things...in terms of the incident you were talking about, if 30-something people participated, it;s even worse that "grown-ups" did such things...hope Xiao Zhan doesn't live in the past^^ (he can even sue people for slander, it is not a small offense, but I don't know the laws of China..)

Sooo agree! Sometimes I'm like - don't you dare touch him with those hands that don't love him, Ma Zhai Xing xD! He was build in a way for a main lead - in terms of story, personality, screen presence...given that the drama as a whole is not his story to tell, he deserves happiness in another. Ma Zhai Xing herself told him "I'm not as good as you". Yes, actually, you're not :)

Ok. I am sorry. But the more I watch, the more it feels like the only reasonable people in this drama are Ji Chong…
I have to agree, Ji Chong, as his father is, is for sure wiser than most people. He's one of the few characters that saw the world beyond the palace (whichever it is) and has a more humane and realistic look on everything. His personality and strong will helped a lot in his personal growth, for me he's the most developed character.
I htink Yao Ji is getting better, in fact, she prooves to be one of the strongest characters and maybe she loves the strongest in the whole series. Wish she didn't so that she doesn't have to suffer but the actress plays her inner struggles so well, I can't help but appreciate her story ^^
As for Bo Wang, what do you mean? I think in the last scenes of episode 42 he behaved like an emo kid xD His self pity was bordering on egotism and compared to Ji Chong, his father and Ma Zhai Xing who agreed to give him a chance and showed they cared deeply about the whole nation....he did seem to think only about Ma Zhai Xing and his sufferings and "redemption". Think he should snap out of the self-pity, listen to the wiser guys and take some real-world responsibility. He needs growth in a different direction now that we're closer to the end.

Yes, The Beatles craze is a little bit too long ago for me xD I know, I know...*sigh* I was a teenager once *big sigh* And I had my daily obsessions but I guess too much fangirling over real people was not my thing, I sticked to participating in discussions about books and films and mainly the characters in them. Loving the actor was a thing, I still have biiiig crushes (Xiao Zhan hehe Sato Takeru hehe <3) but even as a teen I tended to stay away from their personal social media (the actors I liked then but even now) so....I do think behaviour comes from personal choices, school education, family upbringing, cultural surroundings...many factors really. And from what I hear, the chinese fans that are doing things like that are spoiled little girls that have the approval to behave like that and the proof is the phenomenon of the idol industry that continues to cater to their needs (and I think, it shouldn't but doubt China will stop this, where money is involved nobhody will bat an eye and the idol thing is all about money through fans who think it's all about love and devotion. While they lead their fandom wars big companies are taking everything that they can from the whole craze, nothing new ). They are taking things too far, it stops being a normal teenage thing when you repetedly degrade someone over fanfic (LOL) - these are bad people in the making. Wish "idols" showed more independency over these things. It;s just baffling to me that a 30-year old person's whole carrer depends on a 14 year old...and mind you, that 14-year old buys stuff from Estee Lauder, like....someone doesn't teach their child even basic financial responsibility. Not particularly surprising, unfortunately.

Yes, I like the drama, too ^^ Well, people have opinions, preferences, some are quick to judge a book by the cover...doesn't matter, everything is for enjoyment, nothing should be taken too seriously
P.S. Here I am talking like an ancient mummy but I'm soooo happy puberty is over and I finally see some things more clearly haha)

Ugh...who even let kids act that way? Idol industry, buying things from big brands...fans of the so called idols seem like little brats with too much money from their parents and too much free time that they spend living in awful teenage illusions. I don';t know why the industry is dependant on teenage girls that spread hate on the internet. You're 14! (not you, talking about most of the "fans"), go home and eat what your parents cooked for you, start studying and stop being disrespectful to people that are double your age, for God's sake! Fandom wars...what is this sh*t (squese me) - your mom didn't spank yo butt enough when you were a little kid. Actos should stop putting up with little brats, don't know why they care, guess it's coming from some type of consummerism culture. Ugh...I'm too old for that sh*t (squese me) :)
