The love I have for these silly guys :-) The series is still funny. Haruta is even more adorable than before. Maki is still reserved and I wish he would show more tenderness to Haruta, cause we all remember he chased after him lol.
Is this Babe's first acting job??? If so then it's understandable Because I find his acting bland and lacking…
I don't know. Babe is good, at least he was very good in the first episodes. But I agree with you that sometimes he misses the mark. But is it his fault or the director tells him to act like this? Cause sometimes I wonder if Tharn's passive behavior and blank stare is to indicate he's under the influence of Dr Slowmotion (I don't know, it's just a supposition).
I also feel like the series was shot in reverse cause I really felt BillyBabe's chemistry and Babe's acting chop in the first 4 episodes, and then not so much, as if the two just met and were getting used to their roles. It could be possible, you can see the hairstyles aren't the same during the same episode.
Anyway, Babe is a newbie and as such he's doing a very good job.
I love slasher movies/series so I like DFF despite its flaws. The boys are dumb but it's a requirement in slasher movies 😂. The series is entertaining for now but I think 12 episodes is too much. The acting is indeed mediocre except for Ta, Cooper and Mio. Since it's a horror series I know we're not having a happy ending but I want PhiJin to end up together 🤡
Instead of saying that the series is just not their cup of tea, people will rather say that it's bad and will…
No. It means having a critical mind and using it. You can like something and still point out its flaws. The problem with not using objectivity is that you wear rose tinted glasses when you like a series but somehow when you don't like another series you know how to criticize it...I'm having a hard time with this double standard. I'm always watching many series at the same time (BL or not), some I like more than others. But I still point out what I like and what's not working. That's something that's becoming more and more difficult to do nowadays cause as soon as you express an unpopular pov people call you a hater.
The good: - Nat, a great actor that made this episode bearable. - The romance part is finally on track.
The bad: - Boring episode. Part one was too long and focused on people we didn't know. Weird narrative choice but ok. I understand the parallel they wanted to make between these guys and PhayaTharn's predicament but still, the whole plot was wonky and filmed in such a pretentious artsy way (yes, I also understand that was to mirror Art's broken mind). - The pacing is giving me wiplash. The whole episode was dark, sad. But as soon as they finished the meeting, we were back to funny bgm, sweet talk and love scene. - About the love scene... Never thought I would say this but I didn't need it today. I know we waited weeks for it to happen but after the last two episodes, this felt a bit rushed. I mean, Tharn was being a b*itch to Phaya, refused to acknowledge his feelings for him and suddenly they're fucking? Yeah no. A simple reconciliation and a kiss would have been enough. Also, what's wrong with purple light, and the weird cuts? Please don't do that. It cheapen the scene. - Have you ever seen a psychiatrist this involved in an ongoing case? Not me. Cause it's not protocol. Dr Long Face being there everytime the team was talking shop was infuriating. He's not supposed to be present during the team meeting. - How come Tharn doesn't see that Dr Long Face's is goading Phaya? The fact that he talked about Phaya's mental state in front of everyone should have been the clue for Tharn to understand he's not a good person. - The whole plot with Tharn's parents and Montree? I don't know, I don't feel it. There's not enough episodes for them to tackle the reincarnation plot and deal with Montree (who I'm sure is responsible for the lieutenant's death). Feels like they bit more than they could chew.
I'm so disappointed in Sprite. I can't even enjoy their sex scene cause it's problematic. I don't understand this narrative choice: Sprite has no reason to continue to lie to First. The guy is in love with him, he's not gonna tell on him. He would have helped him keep the pretense. The whole thing shows Sprite is dumb and doesn't trust First.
Cute asf and well acted. Still disappointed we only got one kiss and it was bad. They talked a lot about the kiss scene but weren't brave enough to give us a real kiss. I was not expecting My Personal Weather Man level but come on...
I want people to remember that there is no label on Tharn and Phaya's relationship yet.Tharn is right because…
Tharn is right about what exactly? Complaints are not even about their love relationship but about the lack of action from Tharn, his refusal to trust his colleague, and past lover. We're not asking them to get together, we're not asking Tharn to confess his feelings for Phaya. We're disappointed cause he's being irrational and hypocrite.
Unpopular opinion surely but the more I watch this series the less I'm loving it. I don't like the narrative choices (too much comedy while the plot barely moves forward, pacing issues and characters acting quite dumb to create drama). The first 3 episodes were excellent but now I feel like I'm watching a different series. I feel a disconnect between the importance of the mythology introduced, how it will impact negatively on the characters and how said characters behaved these past episodes. I mean, we've been told that Phaya & Tharn lives are at stake, the monk told them to protect each other, he also said that Phaya & Dr Long Face shouldn't meet. Yet, Tharn & Phaya aren't working together to solve the "mystery" and prevent bad omen. They don't really talk about important stuff. Phaya is searching for the truth, he's moving the story forward. Tharn? He's stagnant. What is he doing expect lying to everyone about his feelings (and swimming in his cute red speedo) ? It's one thing to deny his feelings for Phaya but why does he refuse to listen to him? To put some faith in him as Phaya does to him? Last episode they agreed to trust each other... Phaya was clearly in distress in the parking lot. They've been working as a team for a year now. Shouldn't Tharn know that Phaya was acting like this for a good reason? I really liked Tharn at first. I found him charming, shy and smart but now he's starting to piss me off.
Another thing that bothers me is the time wasted on unecessary comedy. I usually like it but here I find it quite annoying because the plot is progressing slowly, the intrigue is complicated and interesting, but the characters are having small talk about whatever. I didn't care about Khem & Tong's romance, not now and surely not presented this way. I didn't care about the guys teasing Tharn for the umpteenth time. I didn't care about Phaya & his sister talk about Dao. Don't get me wrong, those are nice scenes that add realism to the characters and make us care for them. I get it but why do I feel they act as fillers to stretch a storyline to the 12 episodes mark?
Anyway, rant is over. I'm not saying the series is bad. It is good and a game changer in BL. But I guess I have a hard time reconciling the high expectations I had after the first episodes with what I'm watching right now.
