Underrated drama imo.If you're like me who likes an MC who starts out weak with a mysterious background and has…
Weirdest thing: the two leads didn't even share a kiss. Well, half-a-kiss because FL was asleep. The 2nd pair had some. Even the 3rd somewhat pair had more kisses... lol
The Empress was a likeable character to watch. Her motherly love was very heartwarming.
The OTP's love never wavered. They had a lot of sweet moments together, but strangely, never shared a kiss.
whatever happened in the past runyu, is not a compelling reason to justify any act of revenge against xufeng ...…
Did the RY fans who love abusive relationships conveniently forget that XF actually did not take revenge? After being reincarnated, XF just wanted to live a simple life and turned down the demon lord offer. Until RY's petty ass pushed XF into a corner. Even when RY offered his neck to XF for revenge toward the end, XF did not believe killing RY would make things better (even knowing RY caused his parents' death).
So, it's okay for RY to manipulate Jinmi and kill innocents because oh em gee his feelings and mother got killed. But when XF acts to protect himself and seek revenge on the one person who caused his own and parents' death, then "ML is evil."
The other thing people seem to conveniently brush off is RY's mother was constantly trying to kill XF. She failed and got killed for rebelling but people act like her party is the victim.
XF said it correctly; he didn't agree with his own mother's actions and "both of our mothers loved us in the wrong way."
If you're like me who likes an MC who starts out weak with a mysterious background and has a selfless, sacrificing demeanor, then this drama hits the spot.
Probably has one of the sweetest 2nd FL love story I've seen. Janice Wu did a wonderful job as Bai Luo; fierce and unyielding toward anyone who causes her and her companions trouble.
So it sounds like the the pairing is base on how the book ends....
Not sure wth the author of the book was thinking... all the things xiao fan and biyao went through and xiaofan realizes he was just nice to her?
Planning to read the book. Do you know if xiao fan and xueqi had much more in depth interactions in the book compared to the drama? Because there wasn't much in the drama...
Then again... can't really expect a semi-xianxia author to focus on romance considering how illogical the romance turned out to be.
Anyone know other cool dramas like this where the main lead becomes evil strong and badass?
Heavenly Sword Dragon Sabre. Most recent adaptation is 2019.
Main character in both stories are like a reflection of each other lol.
Although the 2nd female love interest in noble aspirations is much better imo. While 1st female lead I would vote for the one in heavenly sword dragon sabre.
Writing is terribly poor -- even the 90s drama writing had more sense than this. Every 4 episodes was about someone trying to pull the noble act of cold shoulder to save their lover. The lover ends up getting hurt because self-fulfilling prophecy. Rinse and repeat 6 times -- that's most of the 29 eps. C'mon man. Gets old quick. Get ready to roll your eyes if you decide to watch.
And JFC, chen ruo xuan played the stupidest, annoying character in this drama AND in Eagle Flag.

Xiaozhou's facial expression in her final scene shows you how much she's dying inside.

2nd FL in with ML.
Didn't feel draggy i fast forward most of the boring scenes (especially that queen). Plus only 29 eps.
If i understand angst correctly, then yeah, multiple occasions (but not done well).
I started reading the english translation where Guili gets introduced. Going to see where the book will take me.
It's been 3-4 years since season 1/2 were created, so I highly doubt the 3 main cast will come back since they're too popular now lol
Going to go reflect on these emotions for a bit now.

If not, stop reading...
She doesn't wake up. At. All.
I found out the hard way. Damn it!!!1!
Dang. Gotta admit. The background story of Senior Master Wan is heartbreaking during the reveal.
Biggest annoyance: treacherous characters get to live far, far too long -- especially the the spies/traitors.
It's rewarding to watch him grow and mature.

Writers trying to be dark and edgy like game of thrones but failed.
