I can see why Yang Yang agreed to this role; stark contrast to his Ye Hua role and shows his flexibility in acting. He'd be perfect for Wei Xiubao in Duke of Mount Deer story.
Good thing I have not read the novel or manhua, else I would probably hate his character in this drama.
The seductive Mu Qian Qian is surprisingly quite entertaining to watch.
Old guru and his assistant are fun to watch.
It's enjoyable so far at ep 13.
Couldn't endure it anymore after ep 15 to 23... it's like watching The Walking Dead; humans became the biggest threat because of recycled internal infighting while the ninja zombies show up conveniently from time to time to make things worse. Jumped to the final ep 60 and the result was pretty disappointing. (First time going from ep 23 to 60 on a drama btw...)
Go through life and death for your love but surprise, surprise! Gotta relinquish your love in order to protect them! Oh em gee!
Only redeeming characters are the evil chick, old guru, and HuanHuan. Everyone else is just annoyingly dumb.
Old guru would have been the destined MC if he was younger; he has a carefree attitude but is actually smarter than Lin Dong. Also, he has his own harem of ladies even for an old man.
Someone please tell me that the novel is better than this waste-of-time. Please!
Leo Wu is confirmed no to do season 2. He has recommended Liu Hao Ran to replace him.https://www.jaynestars.com/news/leo-wu-recommends-another-actor-to-replace-him-for-fights-breaks-spheres-2/
I liked Turbo Liu in Eagle Flag. Was actually picturing him as Xiao Yan.
why coz of the ML too ? im droppin this checkin out heavenlysworddragonslayinsabre
2019 adaptation had the best supporting cast. I was actually able to sympathize with the mean Emei sect leader. Best Yang Xiao ever. Final scene of young Wuji and his parents was heartbreaking.
This Wuji was good at portraying a weak-but-surprise-I'm-strong midway through. But lacked the wiser, dominant presence Wuji during the 2nd half.
First time watching and completing; drama aged very well for a 2014 production.
The nuance in the dialogue and actions between the lovers really stood out to me -- more recent dramas miss these elements even when they hover around 50+ episodes.
The three leads did a wonderful job. Really fun to watch xiao yue and general wei on screen together. 9th Lord's character is admirable, but his sickly demeanor does get tiring to watch. Hu Ge's acting delivered though.
This drama was tough to walk away from; wanted to continue watching it till the end.

Because watching this after the drama invokes those touching scenes and emotions from the drama as the movie skims through scenes after scenes.
So yeah, no one should watch this movie before the drama.
The instrumental versions are here

Beside the obvious hearbreaking scenes, the scenes where ye hua asks other people for their memory of si yin and mo yuan, sink your heart.
The saddest ones were his conversations with zhe yan. Damn those onion cutting scenes!
