Thank you for hosting the Kosmi watch party @Janosch! It's so much less stressful and fun when you have the subs :D We are thinking about doing two watch parties, one after the live stream, when someone uploads a raw version of the episode and one with the subbed episode by Irozuku. It's not super easy to plan it ahead. So the raw one might be more spontaneous. But please no spoiler. It's just no fun. Maybe we can discuss this more. I don't have so much time right now, unfortunately.

I would only do one, if we don't watch a livestream :D It got really messy when people watched during different…
That's a good idea. I love how different it feels to watch it raw and with subs. I'm also quite impatient but not impatient that I can't wait for the uploaded raw version :D If people don't spoil it in the watch party, I think it would be fine. I think we can do two watch parties, one for the uploaded raw version after the livestream and one for the subs. I mean who I am to decide :D it's just difficult to come up with a time for the uploaded raw version.

Guys, are we doing a watch party for Episode 8 tomorrow?
I would only do one, if we don't watch a livestream :D It got really messy when people watched during different times and started to spoiler each other. We have a watch party planned for today. Maybe we can discuss it on there in more detail. I know some people can't wait and want to watch the livestream but I rather wait for someone to upload it after it aired. I mean last time there was a link provided quite fast.

If you haven't read this interview yet it's quite interesting!

Full interview here: https://news.mynavi.jp/article/20201015-akasomachida/
(...) "――Machida-san knew that, do you usually catch up with the movements of the world?

Machida: It's not such a big deal (laughs). But I try to care. I think it's just classified as LGBTQ, but I think that people are getting more and more attention in various works, and I've been in my heart until now. People who have something that they have accumulated in the area are also raising their voices. It made me think that I would be able to challenge this work, and I don't think I should do it halfway. However, even so, I think it would be great if I could simply enjoy playing and bring out the best in this work."

Here's another one with the producer

this one works! I think it's the same article or the producer had very similar answers but it's quite interesting

excerpt:
――What do you think is accepted about your work? Also, have you been careful to be accepted?

I was careful about "the balance when a real human being plays" and "I want to make a work that does not hurt anyone", but I made it with the idea of "I want to make it a work that is loved" rather than to be accepted. I did. Therefore, we focused on "subtleties of the heart," "loving the characters," and "giving each character their sincerity and independence" so that each character can embrace their emotions.

After that, no matter who you like or fall in love with, I think that the identity of that person does not need to be mentioned by anyone else, neither denial nor affirmation. That's why I made it with the intention of drawing it as "just something" that does not require love, denial, or affirmation.

and he said this in another interview:
Producer Kanami Homma (TV Tokyo)
It's a title that has a lot of impact, but it's a pure depiction of the origin of love, "people think of people." The relationship between Adachi, played by Eiji Akaso, and Kurosawa, played by Machida, reminds me of the moment when I was thrilled by such trivial things as meeting my favorite person, talking, and laughing. It's full of feelings!
It's fun to laugh, sometimes healed, sometimes squeaky ... I want to make your Thursday colorful.
Whether you are in love or not, you are free to relate to love, but it is always precious and dear to communicate with someone. Please look forward to the romantic comedy drama created by the "heart connection" drawn through the "magic that can read the heart" that many people are reminded of the "love of connection with people".

I would like to read the linked article (I think it's with the producer?! You can register for free to read the article but I failed at the registration part with the name part :D perhaps someone is able to figure it out? https://twitter.com/DugongdugongR/status/1320572089301037056
"The producer Kanami Honma said:
We discussed with the screenwriter Erika Yoshida to make the series not hurt anyone.
I’m just simply surprised (to see comments/tweets from international fans).
Although I’m still surprised at the expectation that the series can expand to the global market, I want to it if we can."

I would like to answer if you don't mind! For your first point: It was on purpose we were not allowed to hear Kurosawa's…
You know that you made a generalization by stating what is considered "normal" for a 30-year-old adult. You generalized the love/sex life and sexual identity of adults.
You are throwing terms such as cancel-culture mentality and institutionalized homophobia, yet you can't accept the fact that there's not one type of representation for LGBTQ+ people. I'm very aware of the desexualization in the media. I see that you also watch other BL drama, BL drama where there's not a great representation of LGBTQ+ relationships. In those dramas, they're sexualized and fetishized and we even have non-consensual sex scenes which some are actually targeted towards hetero women. There's a lot of harmful "representation". Sex and nudity don't equal an accurate representation of queer sexuality either. Some queer people are looking for a romance story that isn't just about sex. I don't think that it's ok to portray queer people as pure people with no sexual desires, but I also don't like it when people ignore the tone of a story and the pace. Btw. I think that a lot of sex scenes of hetero couples in movies and shows are done badly or are really irrelevant when it comes to the plot.

You're talking about political correctness. I'm talking about human rights. You're the one who is ignorant. So I rather let it be. I can't be "polite" to someone who doesn't respect that there are different kinds of people on this planet.

You do realize that people are different? I get your points but I also think some of them are quite ignorant. Sex is a part of life, and it's normal to get intimate. However, not everyone feels the same way about sex. Everyone has different timing. Kurosawa in this Jdrama adaptation seems to be a really considerate person who takes boundaries very seriously. Of course, one can't control their thoughts. I don't care how he is in the manga. I don't get why it has to be a certain way, just because the plot suggests it or because it is apparently BL. I know that other BLs apparently focus more on the sex part, but I'm just watching this as a drama. I don't expect any fictional work to have sex scenes. Some sex scenes make sense plot-wise and of course, it is important to show that LGBTQ+ people have sex as well. We can still get scenes where Kurosawa has those thoughts and we are definitely going to get some kind of scene where he probably loses his virginity. I just think it's important to realize that everyone is not the same.

I don't want to get too personal but I'm an adult and nope I don't always fantasize about having sex with someone. Especially in this show puts emphasis on the fact Adachi believes that there's more in life than love. Saying that 30 year olds are not kids without sexual desires is ignorant towards people on the ace spectrum. Fujisaki's scene in the elevator actually aired during Ace awareness week. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but people are different and I was actually happy to have a show where Kurosawa isn't teasing Adachi far having no experience in love.
We don't even know if Adachi stops touching Kurosawa before he has some sexual thoughts. I mean for Adachi those cheesy thoughts are already enough.

I guess our opinions just clash. But to say that something has to be a certain way because they're adults or the plot is about being a virgin is not right imo

OK, there is one thing that's bothering me. They've pretty much dropped Adachi's powers - he didn't even hear…
It made 100% sense that we got to see Kurosawa's perspective and memories in this episode without the mind-reading. I think it was a choice to not include any of those mind-reading moments because the 7th episode is about getting to know Kurosawa more as a character. It's not about getting to know him through someone else thoughts. Also sometimes people don't think. You don't think all the time. In the hugging scene, we see how Adachi is slowly touching Kurosawa, it's a moment where the focus on Adachi being more confident, letting love in. It's about listening to his own voice. So I rather think it's smart to not use it as a plot device in that episode, especially to make it less confusing for Adachi who is already way too overwhelmed with K who is saying those things which were just thoughts up until heard Kurosawa saying them outloud.

I mean K actually gushes over his mole and his cuteness and appearance. I don't think K actually feels comfortable dreaming further after the terrace scene. He knows Adachi is quite inexperienced. I mean we can still get those types of scenes. Now that they're officially a thing.
