the battle was moving for me because of how the hunters fought with all their might until the end. probably because i have come to accept that they really dont want to portray them as someone with superhuman qualities, just trained ordinary hunters with limited capabilities. but at the end they died as heroes, stupid as it may seem

tbh i really love the final battle, im kinda moved. the only downside was that was short, i had hoped it was longer because it was just epic. would loved to see njl & lin fighting all out

by the way, read that tian li had 5 versions of the finale and the one we saw is the best version that could pass the review lol. they didnt even touch much about nuwa because of censorship. anyway, what i like most in this drama is how they portrayed women. for example, they never bring down ling ling as an ugly unwanted woman chasing after yantuo but they give her own personality and potential

overall i love the drama. but if there is a spin off for nanshan hunters i would def watch because they have so much potential and many interesting characters that could have their own story. xing shen in the novel was already annoying but i do want to see him having more redeeming qualities. i was moved with the battle scene, though it was shorter than i expected

tbh, the main fiends are written in such a way that you cant totally hate them.. xiong , lin and feng mi are more loved than xing shen

i didnt have problems with the pace probably because i love the storytelling. but if you find it slow, you can save some episodes and binge watch it later. episode 28- 29 were really good

mdl already has become like douban. certain fandoms have bigger numbers here on mdl and (insecurely) just downrates good dramas because they hate the leads

i just finished watching all episodes and i could say i really had a great time chasing this drama from start to finish. probably one of the best c-dramas this year!

in the novel i love how she gave yan tuo space to process everything he went thru but at the same time, made him feel that she was always there for him. such mature relationship is hard to see in dramas nowadays

definitely a whole contrast and they say she got no range smh. i could even imagine her in a villain role

oh right. but i think at the start of the drama they wanted to depict njl as someone who wants to be out of the nanshan hunter group, thus she just wants to repay her debt from jiang, execute a trade and live a normal life. it was just later on that she took full responsibility of being the mad blade. i love the character development though

if i remember it right, sun zhou was a hopeless case. there were already red threads in his eyes meaning natural fire cant cure him. jiang said they could only send him "down" but jiuluo asked him if they could find other ways to save him. mad dog took that opportunity to tame sunzhou instead and use him as a tool

yes watch till ep 18. then hold off for a while until yantuo is saved. the drama is almost 2/3 finished. if you want, you can binge watch every 4 eps

btw, dont bother much about the heat index. its kind of a hopeless case. sword rose was a distributed drama so technically lottl should have higher views on tencent app but its heat index is almost the same and still stucked. there were a lot of virtual bookings, fans spent a lot more money for in-app purchases, the discussion was way much higher, merchandise was sold out, viral posts on douyin & xhs, huge leap of followers on their social drama accounts, ads already at 1300+ seconds halfway thru the drama. even with mediocre scripts reba could pull millions of viewers let alone a high quality one. some speculate it has something to do with milking more money + conflict of profit sharing between platform & production team. but the math is just not math-ing. so might as well just discuss the plot + beautiful points of this drama because the whole prod team really deserves it

thank you for this review. competition and fandom wars have become so toxic it even extended to international community. there are handful of people who still discuss dramas for the sake of it. and to be able to find likeminded people who share the same interest is really precious. this is what the essence of mdl should have been

at least in todays eps nanshan hunters proved themselves by capturing those 4 other fiends. but xing shen still annoying af like some bitter ex. move on 😭
