Episode 9 was really good. Progression on both the Dan/Yok story as well as White/Sean.
I loved the Dan/Yok scene. But something hit me during that scene that has me worried. I’m starting to suspect that Dan being a cop will not play well in the future…especially if he is found out by other cops. I’m actually worried he won’t survive the series.
I still say that with opening credits like DBK has...you know you are in for some drama. And DBK does not disappoint on the drama. You spend the first few episodes saying, "Oh this is nice and sweet." But by the end you are yelling at the screen, "Please make it stop!"
One of the best side couples in BL...SunMork are seriously everything in this series.
For me...out of Guardian, Word of Honor and The Untamed (all 3 in my top favorites category)...this is the most rewatchable. Yes...there are some issues with some of the effects but the characters (and cast) are what make this series so damn good and rewatchable. Great first couple and great second couple as well...even if we have to leave a lot to our imagination. With that said...the cast knew what they were doing and were able to show us enough to know it was just 2 bromances.
I'm always conflicted as to which one I like better...The Untamed, Word Of Honor or Gaurdian. I think for pure entertainment value I prefer Guardian. There are some great funny moments in that series...even if there are some things I genuinely don't like about it. I think that The Untamed goes in the middle of these two series. I think it's better than Word Of Honor but not quite as good as Guardian. With all of that said...I could feel completely different tomorrow. I love all three series.
Best part of this series is the cast, acting and writing. It's an epic adventure and yes...it's a love story even if they are not allowed to portray it. Oh and the soundtrack is beautiful as well.
Took the time to rewatch this series because I wanted to see if my opinion has changed since the original airing. Not a lot has changed since I first watched it except that I have to say that the acting is better than I remember it being. But I will never get over that ending. With that said...it's still better than The Shipper.
Much better series than people give it credit for. Wish GMMTV wasn't hiding it like they are ashamed of it. It has some genuinely funny moments. And the cast is friggin' awesome! And yes...there is some toxic stuff in it but I think that we have to have series like this to show the BL industry that we want better from them.
I do hope that they complete this series. I'd like to see where Ongsah and North end up. I'd also like to see if some of the other cast members took some acting classes...cuz some needed acting classes. Just sayin'.
Just did a second viewing of this series because when it originally aired the subs were completely messed up and the only thing I liked about the series were Ongsah and North. It was not as bad the second time around. Yes...there was some terrible (and I mean terrible) acting at times by some of the side characters but I really did love the story of Ongsah and North. It was better the second time around. Not great...but better. And it will always be better than The Shipper in my mind.
I love the character of Akk! He is a great character. I'm loving both Flukes so far...They always brighten up any series they are in. I just wish the series could be a tad less boring. But I'm hoping that will change as time goes on and the story progresses.
Oddly enough, minus parts of the ending, this has become one of my most re-watched series and it's becoming one of my favorites. I mostly watch this series for Boat because I love his character (and I have a type and he's it). Also love the side couple as well. And I really don't mind Gun's acting, which it appears many have an issue with. There are a lot worse BL actors out there.
Overall...I like the series because there are aspects of it that are different from many other BL series. Is it perfect? Nope...I'll leave perfect to Bad Buddy. But Golden Blood isn't a terrible BL series. I love the bodyguard to lovers trope.
I am so happy I did not pay attention to the reviews for this series. I'm loving it so far! Yes...it might be slow in some places but the actors are great, the story is interesting enough to keep me engaged and some parts are genuinely scary. I look forward to seeing future episodes!
Favorite scene, hands down for me, in episode 3 was the one between Yok and Dan. That scene came off as beautifully intense. With Yok admiring Dan's artwork, then turning to him and that look between Yok and Dan was, I think, of both wonder and recognition at the situation and their common belief system, not to mention attraction, at least from Yok's prospective. I'm excited about this series because there is so much potential not only between the leads but also with the side characters and potential second couple of Yok and Dan.
I'm beginning to think that Pran has mental health issues (not very serious tough). Possibly because he has a…
I would also argue, a little bit of PTSD, due to his parents issue's with Pat's parents. If you look at how he was reacting to his mother going after Pat and Pat's father in episode 6, there is some trauma there. Nanon wasn't only portraying curiosity at that point, he almost seemed to cower a bit, as he watched his mother go after Pat and his father. Again, an underlining trauma because of the issue with the parents. I so dislike Pran's mother at this point.
Wow. That last scene was just...wow. So much raw emotion in that last scene. From Pat asking for friendship, but meaning more, to the tear running down Pran's face...then the kiss (probably one of the best BL kisses ever...if not the best) to the look on Pran's face after...him likely thinking that this could never work because of family/friends and then he walks away. That scene could not have been more powerful or perfect. Filled with so much raw emotion. Great acting on the part of Nanon and Ohm.
Forgetting the negatives of the ending...this series is worth the watch just for the chemistry between the actors...all of the pairings have good chemistry, actually. The series was very well cast...even if the ending is...for lack of a better word...flawed. I would even watch it again.
I loved the Dan/Yok scene. But something hit me during that scene that has me worried. I’m starting to suspect that Dan being a cop will not play well in the future…especially if he is found out by other cops. I’m actually worried he won’t survive the series.
