Thank you for the clarification. But yes only ZLS and ZYC are top billed as main leads so the story should have started differently even if ZLS and the Yan yan girl play the same character.

If they really needed the face swap in the plot, what they could’ve done (like in any time travelling drama) was show Zhao Lusi in her maid role then have a memory trigger that makes her remember her past. Then we get flashback of the 2nd lead. Deus ex machina style. The more I type and watch the series, the angrier I get. Lol.

It’s an insult to the production and team behind Love Better than Immortality to be compared to this trash story. I feel sorry for Zhao Lusi and ZYC being called main leads but getting so little screen time. The first episode gave a very bad taste in my “mouth” that I couldn’t even finish it.

The writer was also going for the mysterious, sexy aura for ZYC’s character but he doesn’t have the same acting prowess as Li Hongyi. Li Hongyi’s character even though a bit perverted comes off as something you would actually want to do that to you. But ZYC is not giving me the same vibe here.

I want to punch the screen so bad when I saw episode 1. The writers/producers of this drama is more shameless than the producers of Cheese in the Trap. At least in CITT they game the spotlight to the main leads in the first half of the drama. But in this production they didn’t even start in the perspective of the main lead! The f*** is wrong with the writer.

The first episode is making me so mad. Calling Zhao Lusi as the main role but she just appeared 3x in the first episode is enough proof that they just used the ZLS and ZYC as stepping stone to push the 2nd leads (Angelina Jiang, & Mao Fang Yuan), that or the writer doesn’t know the difference between main and supporting role.

I’ve been putting off watching this drama because of 1) my loyalty to Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi otp, and 2) the negative reviews. But now that I’m watching 1st episode I get it when they said the production was showing favoritism with the 2nd Leads most of the drama because just in the 1st episode, they spent the first quarter of the episode with the 2nd leads. Who does that??

I think they just used Zhao Lusi and Zheng Ye Chen’s popularity to get more viewers but they ended screwing the plot and the viewers. If they wanted to push their stars, they should have just made them the main leads. If your talents are good enough, they doN’t need to do this shady tactic, they would’ve shined regardless of Their roles. This is what they did to the Cheese in the Trap tv drama, where the half of the series was ok but the 2nd half was trash because they decided to focus on Seo Kang-Joon (2nd lead) which was not even consistent with the base material. Just because he was backed by the sponsor, Park Hea-jin’s main lead was side lined.

I was so mad at this series that I just skipped/fast forwarded ep17-23 for the dumbest decisions made by a group of characters... the leads suddenly lost their logic and started making decisions that were made just to drive the story forward.

AFAIK, they are based on real emperors. Qi Huang is a true emperor hat had several sons and concubines but no Empress.
