Title Go Go Squid!
I'm currently watching this and I'm now on episode 2, but it felt too draggy. I was thinking of dropping it. Should…
Ep1 didn’t hook me and ep 2 didn’t help because I found the team solo flashback boring. But the show got better at ep 3 because that’s where the focus on the hilarious misunderstanding between ML and FL begins. They do have some kiss scenes which is ok but it’s not as earth shattering as in Love Better than Immortality or The Eternal Love.

Title Go Go Squid!
yes the female lead started off as annoying to the point I also thought about dropping this but I decided to push…
True, I put this on hold too after watching ep 1 since I didn’t love the ML and FL at first sight. And 2nd ep also didn’t help with the team solo flashback. I got hooked when I watched it in my second attempt at ep3. The emberassing things Niannian does for Gun is so hilarious and cute and I also love K&K boys’ matchmaking game!

Title Go Go Squid!
Is this drama that good? TBH........i really don't like the male leads acting.......I watched the 1st episode…
I also skipped it after ep1 because they had a flashback to Gun’s Team solo days and I was bored. But once you skip ep2, the show shows more romantic interactions between niannian and Gun. I just watch it on WeTV so I can play it at 1.5x speed and I skip the scenes with the Team Solo flashback, and Solo’s side story. I only watch the scenes with ML and FL, and Yaya’s and xiaoFei’s scenes. And also Demo and the K&K boys scenes are also cute.

That's cute. She actually had twins and named one of them Bei Gong Ai Qi (Bei Gong Loves [Xiao] Qi)
OMG! Thanks for this cute FYI! Just realized the special play on words. Cute.

Can you tell us about the Season 1 and 2? Is it a total of 24 eps combined or they consider 12 eps Season1 and…
In Iqiyi,they combine season 1 & 2 so you get24 episodes.

The annoying thing ..I dislike a female character who chase after the male and do anything for that...This is…
True but at leats she’s not the typical stupid, die hard fan. Lol. I remember that iritating cliche.

I'm really surprised at all of the great reviews for this drama. I love fluffy romances, and I thought this would…
I understand that the love progression can be a bit shocking with the speed but if we consider that season 1 is meant to have 12 episodes, I can accept the lightning speed. Compared to Honey, Don’t Runaway (IQiyi 12 ep season 1), the love story there didn’t develop until ep 9 which was too late. And in case they didn’t get season 2, at least the love story was developed well. Unlike what happened to HDR, you’re left guessing if the ML and FL will ever get together.

I think the ML’s acting is an acquired taste but I found that the FL’s acting/character complements his acting. She’s the go getter, no nonsense type of girl and he’s the conservative but goofy on the inside type. Lol I’ve watched the drama 2x now and find the fluffiness ot be relaxing after watching heavy dramas like Prince of Lan Ling, Princess Weiyoung, etc.

I just finished watching this drama and I must say Janice Wu and Zhang Yu Jian’s romance is so realistic and natural that I don’t doubt they have something going on outside the screen. The first time I saw their couple in the Oriental Odyssey, I already felt that they had more chemistry than with the main make lead in Oriental Odyssey. Though ZYJ’s Zhao character is brighter than Yan Mo’s, they were still able to keep the chemistry alive.

The show’s not perfect of course since there was some drag inepisodes 25 to 33, but thankfully the great cinematography and OST made it bearable. I also appreciate that the show gave us different kinds of love ro satisfy everyones taste.
- Yan Mo/Qiao Yi - stoic, smart guy x not so bright, eager girl = earnest love
- Guan Chao/ Wuyi - playboy, smart guy x sporty, writer girl = playful/passionate love
- Dachuan/ Alicia - misunderstood, ganster guy x perfect, rice girl = opposites attract love

I finally finished watching this Hit drama that either you hate or you love. And I must say I loved it but it’s far from perfect.

First, personally I found that the Angelababy and Wallace have great chemistry. At first I didn’t find Wallace physically attractive since he’s not the candy type lead, but the way he portrayed Bei Jie made me root for him over the visually more appealing He Xia, who I found way too arrogant to actually like. Angelababy’s acting is serviceable, not the best but not the worst. One thing you can’t deny is that Ping Ting and Bei Jie have one of the fiercest kiss scenes/romantic scenes in a drama this long (ex. Ashes of Love, Eternal Love, etc) - that in itself is a plus point.

Character wise, comparing this long drama with the other dramas mentioned above, I cared more about more side characters here (ex. Sui Jiu, Mo Ran, Liang General and wife, Fu Lu, etc) than the other side characters in the other drama. Of course this will not be a drama if we don’t have the noble idiot syndrome from time to time for Ping Ting and Bei Jie. But what I found refreshing was that PT did act the part of a beautiful , strategist and that BJ is her equal in brains. She played the part of a character with high IQ but with questionable EQ pretty well, so her limited acting skills kinda worked for the character. She came off more like a genius detached from emotions in the beginning vs the more human iteration of Minglan. Bothe PT and BJ also had great character development which you can see only when you watch from start to finish. Because both leads were meant to be annoying at first because they haven’t “matured” enough yet in the first 10 eps.

In terms of cinematography, there were some lovely shots in the drama and the fight scenes were definitely worth watching. I was a bit confused by the use of CGI in some scenes since I saw the BTS and they (Angelababy, Wallace, etc) did shoot on site, but I think it was the director’s discretion to use CGI to try to improve the scenes. I’m curious to see the unedited version to see if there were indeed improvements with the use of CGI. It’s also worth mentioning that in the BTS, some parts of the location were under construction/messy (ex. BJ and PT mountain home), so I can see why they need to use CGI in most of the scenes there.

Lastly, the length is a bit too much if you don’t know the background novel. But thankfully for the insights on YT, the length actually makes sense because He Xia and You Tian are also main roles in the novel so we do get a lot of episodes with them. When you also look at he story by parts you might hate it, but when you finish the series and take a step back, you realize that the writers tied up the story quite well.

Haha, you really have a diabolical mind! I had a good chuckle reading your ideas about the roles you think Angelababy…
@prettycareye do watch it! At first I found the 60eps pretty daunting. But what I did was play it at 1.5x speed and skipped some scenes every 30sec if it didn’t interest me (2nd leads scenes, irritating Yan king, etc). But in the end I found that what the characters did in the first few eps and how they tied up the plot was pretty satisfying.

You get to appreciate the things you fight/work for may it be love or power.

Is this happy/sad ending?
Happy ending and well worth the wait.

Loved the fight scenes in this but the character Bai Ping Ting not so much. The cat and mouse game was the most…
I’m at episode 8 and I’m getting annoyed at Bai Ping Ting for asking a lot from Chu Bei Jie (ex. Don’t attack Yan, etc) and then not keeping her end of the bargain and running away every time! Agh! The first escape was cute, but if she escapes for the 5th time I will officially dub her as the most uninterested lead. Lol.

Has anyone tried counting how many times she escapes from Bei Jie in the whole series?

Waiting for this drama to drop. I saw the OTPs clips on YT and they have great chemistry and unique romantic scenes!
On Bai Lu May 14, 2020
Person Bai Lu
I think Bai Lu has the Time turning key. How can she make 4 30+ dramas as main leads for 2020 and have 1 30+ drama as support lead? We will surely have no shorTage of Bai Ly projects by the end of 2020.

Really debating if I should give this another chance, but don’t the leads not even meet until your like 15 eps…
Skip the episodes with Siyin and Mo Yuan. They explain everything in ep 20ish. I like the Bai Qian and Yehua arc. 30ish

If you like the second pairing , maybe you are into weird dramas
I share your sentiments. I found it a bit draggy too. I got tired of all the women scheming to get Yehua’s attention. And to Bata Batal, we are here to critic and rate the dramas not the other viewers taste.

Title Eternal Love
i've come here after watching Ashes of Love and i'm wondering if i should take my chances and start this drama??…
The first few episodes are draggy and is not that compelling to watch if you’re into the romance part. I just played it at 1.5-2x speed to get moving. Then the juicy part is in the 20ish episodes with Ye Hua and Susu. I just skip the scheming part of the other women in love with Yehua and the ghost tribe scenes.
