I'm having a conundrum. I am currently watching this on Viki where there is LOT of hate on the female lead and…
I just watch dramas on Viki if I had no choice. Because from my experience, a lot of viewers there have this certain ideal of a female lead, or maybe they haven’t watched enough dramas yet? I dunno. But basically they’re hating on KSH because she played Dong-ju spot on. A woman who has her own mind, plan, career, and someone who doesn’t spend even 50% of her day thinking about guys. Just because Nok-du’s character told her he loved her she’s supposed to fall on his feet? Lol. People should learn to appreciate female characters that are not your typical damsel in distress.

This drama has no faults to speak of. The chemistry was especially the best.
I agree with the great chemistry with Jang Dong yoon and kim So Hyun! To those saying she had no chemistry with JDY, watch KSH other dramas and her chemistry with her previous leading men. Even though she’s my fave actress in her generation, this is so far the only drama where she showed the best chemistry with her male partner.

Comparing this to Emperor Owner of the Mask, with Yoo Seung Ho who is also one of the most talented actors of his generation, KSH chemistry with YSH pales in comparison to the chemistry between Nok-du and Dong Joo.

Another reason why people might not feel tHe “chemistry” is because Dong-ju’s character is very straightforward, independent woman, and not prone to day dreaming about guys so of course she will not exhibit the overly coy, giddy, simpering traits that your typically see in other female leads.

I'm new to cdramas, probably this is gonna be my second after Fifteen years of migratory birds, so can you guys…
Been binge watching Cdramas now for 3 months and I must say I also had the same apprehension you had switching from kdrama to cdrama. Positive note is that since cdrama have bigger audience, they have more drama offerings per year and with different plots and themes. I don’t think I’ve even finished 1/3 of the dramas created for the past 3 years. Lol.

Negative thing about Cdramas is that most of them are unnecessarily long 20-60 eps which you rarely see in kdramas unless it’s a sageuk or weekend drama. Hence, cdramas tend to be draggy AH in the middle. Likewise, I think Cdramas make better quality historical movies than modern ones.

Personally I prefer historical dramas but here are my recos for your introduction to Cdrama:

Modern setting:
- You Are My Destiny (Xing Zhao Ling and Liang Jie chemistry 100%, WeTV, on going)
- Girlfriend (MGTV YT channel)
- Well Intended Love S1 & S2 (Netflix and YT)
- Amazing Boyfriend S1 & S2 (Esther Yu in S2, YT and Viki)
- Le Coupe de Foudre (Netflix and YT, might be a tad serious)
- Put Your Head on my Shoulder (Netflix and YT)

Historical setting and fluffy romance
- Love Better than Immortality (Zhao Lusi is also there)
- The Eternal Love S1 & S2 (Xing Zhao Ling and Liang Jie most kisses and skinship ever)- Emperor and I (Zhao Lusi is also ML)
- Romance of Huarong (unique pirate romance)
- Love by Hypnotic
- My Fantastic Mr. Right
- Under the Power (surprisingly good but long)

Title My Dear Destiny Spoiler
I'm really surprised that this drama is 36 episodes long at 45 minutes per episode, since from the comments I'm…
Done with ep 24 still no powers. Lol. But I’m here for the romance so don’t mind the female being “magic-less”. :D

I understand that the love progression can be a bit shocking with the speed but if we consider that season 1 is…
Super happy ending. Yes cute and funny romance.
On Your Highness Season 2 Jun 16, 2020
I’m not a native Mandarin Chinese speaker but I’m attempting to sub the whole s2 just so I can understand it. Lol. This is how much I love this series.

Right now 1 episode is taking a whole day to sub and adjust english sub so it makes sense. Lol.

I mean that's true, Han Shuo tried to kill Qian Qian in the romance of tiger and rose and not many people complained…
I’m so glad to see a few converts for My Dear Destiny! I feel that this drama is underrated just because it went against Romance of the Tiger and the Rose in terms of premier date. RTR definitely is the Goliath here with the big name stars, higher budget, and more publicity and My Dear Destiny is the David trying to forge ahead with the lead’s great chemistry.

My advice is for people to watch it with an open mind and don’t expect a Novoland-esque/ Chinese Odyssey type drama where the different clans are the main point. Above all else, this is a fluffy rom com drama so expect maybe 80% of it will be about the romance between the leads and the 2nd leads.

Actually the 24 eps is just for setting up the fact the leads actually love each other. I’m guessing that the last 12 eps would be dedicated to solve the whole wolf, witch, human tribe beicang conflict in the story.

On another note, I see a lot of nega comments about ML wanting to indirectly kill the FL. But I think this is the trend now because in The Romance of the Tiger and the Rose, Han Shuo is also actively trying to kill Chenqian. The difference is that Lu Ao actually tries to save Qiqi in all instances while Han Shuo is just plain unlucky that’s why his plans to kill Chenqian always fail.

Title General and I Spoiler
Happy ending and well worth the wait.
She doesn’t lose the baby. In fact you can see their child in the later episodes.

definitely loved it the mains were so good, and she was so beautiful one of the most beautiful c drama actresses…
Try the following:
- Legend of Minglan (slight comedy but mostly serious drama about Minglan’s journey from lowly concubine’s daughter to Minister’s wife)
- Story of Yanxi Palace (highest rated period drama but set in the Qing dynasty so you have the half bald men here)

Happy ending and well worth the wait.
They reunite in the middle and also several episodes before the finale. So they do have some time to have meaningful romantic interactions. I just breeze through the unnecessary scenes of the 2nd leads to get to PingTing’s scenes.

Title My Dear Destiny Spoiler
See my explanation below from the barely decent subs:
Lu Ao left Qiqi in The west wing because at that time he’s still afraid his wolf secret will be exposed by qiqi. And since he kinda loved qiqi and didn’t want to Get her killed anymore, better to hide her away so she won’t have a chance to expose him. But do note that at this point they’ve just barely gotten to know each other so Lu Ao doesn’t know if Qiqi can be trusted.

In later episodes it was revealed that Lu Ao visited Qiqi in secret but he couldn’t do it i. Public because there are a lot of other factions that want to hurt him and hurt Qiqi if they find out. Regarding punishments, Lu Ao is the king so he can’t really know 24/7 what’s happening to Qiqi i. The west wing. But the worst abuse in the hands of concubine Ling were done when Lu Ao was in a coma so he couldn’t do anything.

I was really looking forward to this, especially as I thought it might be a really cute and more fluffier rendition…
Agree with Minoucha. This is a romance driven drama and the background of the tribes take a backseat. The harem is just the setting but the other concubines are mostly in name and the FL is the only one who even had the slightest romantic connection with the ML.

I saw the abuse scenes clips, I’m wondering if it happened earlier or later in the drama?
Early in the series. But the abuse are more like accidental(?) abuse, then punishment, but it’s not as bloody as you’d see in more serious dramas like Eternal Love, Ashes of Love, etc.

Any side couples?
Yes. Senior disciple Muji and Princess Lian Quiao (Beichang tribe). They have cute story. The girl looks like Liang Joe of Eternal Love in some angles.
Replying to LostDream Jun 13, 2020
I was planning on watching it because the trailer make it look like a cute and fluffy drama, but seeing the comments…
Watch it! The abuse is over the top but it’s not the melodramatic type? I can’t really describe it well. But with the pacing, and tone of the scenes, once you get past the “tortures” you don’t really mind it that much.
