Wait for it to finish uploading so you can binge watch. Hopefully it will have happy ending. But so far it’s a light period drama. Ignore some of the nega comments and watch with an open mind so you don’t get stressed too soon with the scenes. Lol.
I just finished ep. 24 with decent subs at DramaCool and I must say, though not the best drama out there, it’s a nice addition to your romcom, Chinese period dramas.
Shout out to the great chemistry between Zhang Si Fan and Hu Yi Xuan! Though they still need a lot of practice to match the kiss scenes in The Eternal Love or Love Better than Immortality, the chemistry is still present. Add to the fact that ZSF Lu Ao’s fierce, “kingly” look matches really well with HYX Qiqi’s cute, adorable face. I personally think HYX looks best with ZSF than her and Xu Kai Cheng in I’m a Pet at Dali temple.
This has the same level of ridiculousness as TEL, LBTI, and Cinderella Chef. But the good thing so far about this drama is that it doesn’t take too long for the leads to resolve their issue. It’s not melodramatic. I’m eagerly waiting for the last 12 eps. I even broke my rule of waiting for the hwole drama to finish before watching because the trailers for this drama is that good.
PS. Please stop hating on this drama because the ML is ”trying” to indirectly kill the FL! This is the same case for Han Shuo and ChenQian in The Romance of Tiger and the Rose, but I don’t see anyone griping about this in that thread. Lol. Besides, Lu Ao is always trying to save Qiqi in all instances vs Han Shuo who doesn’t get to kill CQ because he has incompetent men. Lol.
I think the main highlight of this drama is that it’s only 26 episodes, no plot devices are repeated (ex. FL keeps escaping from ML - Legend of Huarong/ General and I), and funny.
This is like the playful, more carefree, a bit simple, twin of Under the Power. Cases were not that hard to guess, main conflict not too complicated, and romance is ok. Don’t expect The Eternal Love level of passion. But there is skinship but the cute kind. Serviceable leads. I like that the FL also initiates some kiss but not too aggressive that she seems like a femme fatale.
hello! i’m usually a little hesitant about historical dramas because i dislike the complicated storylines of…
This is the light hearted, comedy version of Under the Power. Funny characters, lead guy is not as manly as you’d expect, not much drama. Easy to watch and most of all very short.
i watched eternal love of dream and i loved it, but afterward i realized that there is this drama which was releases…
DH and FJ are better written in ELOD than in EL. If you liked the romance of DH and FJ, expect the opposite type, BQ is borderline cold and YH is intense but very silent? Lol.
Sequence to watch this series: 1. Eternal love 2. Eternal love of dream 3. Love and Destiny (same world as 1&2 but diff characters?)
Just watched an episode and realized that I have zero idea about what the plot is. Despite being extremely popular,…
They had a lot of world building to do in this series for a popular novel so they crammed a lot of character side story in. Just skip or play it at 1.5x speed w/ subs then skip scenes. Lol.
The 2nd season is as long but at least the side stories didn’t bother me that much.

I liked how it started off, but after the war I couldn't stand Yuehua and Baiqian's romance. It was honestly just…
I agree BQ is bipolar. Correct term to describe her hot/cold treatment of YH. But DH/FJ were irritating because the characterization here is based on writer only not on Pillow Book novel. Real DH/FJ character is in Eternal Love of Dream.
Just one question: How strong is the female lead in this? Is she really capable? Currently watching Legend of…
She’s stronger that the ML in terms of cultivation. She’s so strong the ML ends up going after her and she just drinks her woes away. She does her own thing.

After 3 seasons, I’ve confirmed that Sheng Ying Hao can’t act to save his life. Lol. He’s not the worst, but he gives the same facial expression in scenes where he’s supposed to be happy, sad, jealous, etc. I think it’s his eyes or maybe his inability to “move” his facial muscles? I think Kira Lu completely out acted him here as his female lead. And with Levin Gao’s character getting the spotlight in Season 3, I kinda wished he was the lead.
Giving this a 2nd chance coz nothing appeals to me at the moment. I felt that since my expectations has watered…
So true about DJ falling for FJ! I like his character here more than Vengo’s version in EL. I’d say most of the main characters here are more 4D than their version in EL.
I just finished the drama, and I must say I might be one of the few viewers that loved Eternal Love of Dream more than Eternal Love. With EL I could barely get past the first 10 eps with MY backstory, but with ELOD if I could stay sane without sleep I would’ve marathoned this for 20hrs straight. Sadly, longest that I could watch continuously was 24eps (10hrs at 1.5x speed). Lol.
I guess the reason why I found ELOD more exciting than EL, is because this drama concentrated more on the love story of Feng Jiu and Dong Hua, and what ever side characters or romance there is, they kept it to a minimum. In EL, I found that there was unnecessary time spent on side characters (FJ and DH, though I guess it’s for the 2nd season, the irritating psycho girls who love YH, the mopey 2nd demon prince, etc). In ELOD, I got to appreciate how the love between FJ and DH grew. It’s also noteworthy, that most of the side characters are interesting without needing me to remember their side story that much. This is why I could tolerate the length of ELOD while in EL, I had to skip almost 5-8 episode length scenes because of the irritating side characters and uninteresting side love stories that they kept feeding the viewers.
Pairing wise, I love the Feng Jui and Dong Hua ship more than the orig Bai Qian Ye Hua pair. I get that BQ x YH is giving us the reverse of your usual drama trope, where we have a more powerful, and more detached FL, and the ML does the moping. But I’m a sucker for traditional pairing of stoic, jealous, powerful DH and bubbly, tenacious, warm FJ. And I also love that even though there’s a huge difference in their powers, FJ and DH, for the most part, tried to solve their problems together at the last minute. If the problem between BQ and YH was the noble idiot syndrome, FJ and DH is mostly about miscommunication.
Lastly, I love ELOD because even though it’s a very character rich story, the whole mood of the drama is warm, and happy. Even the colors are brighter vs the darker, more serious vibe of EL. I see myself watching this drama for another run if I have the time.
I always stumble upon this drama, I've read good and bad reviews, but I'm still undecided on whether to watch…
I think it depends on your ML and FL preference. If you prefer the stoic, lovelorn god with the capable, snobbish, no nonsense female lead you will love Bai Qian and Ye Hua more. But if you are like me, who prefer stoic, jealous, a bit naughty god with warm, loyal, bubbly FL, then ELOD is your cup of tea.
But I agree when I watched EL I didn’t like FJ and DH story because DH was as unemotional as a board. But I loved the the DH in ELOD because he’s much more fleshed out and giving us more emotional investment.
SPOILERS:Finished this drama in a week! I really enjoyed it ^_^ I liked how they showed us different places or…
So happy to find someone who enjoyed this drama more than EL like me. Lol. FJ x DH for the win. And I agree with your points specially the communication part. I was also a bit confused when I read the summary of the Pillow book vs watching this drama because the timeline and scenes were a bit off. But I prefer the storyline in the drama than in the book. Loved the mortal part too.
Just finished this. I enjoyed Dong Hao and Feng Jui’s relationship. Is there any similar WITHOUT the amnesia?
If you’re up for the demon-like prince with warm, bubbly girl, watch Love Better than Immortality. Though they’re more of martial artists than immortals. But chemistry is great and I must say better than the chemistry here. Though Qiu Yue and Chun Hua, are younger actors than DH and FJ.
Apparently, we're suppose to "forget" what happened during first season because the timeline is out of wack here.…
Finally found someone who also love this more than the first season. :D I like DH and FJ here than the version in season 1. Though FJ remained very much the same, DH character development was a giant leap.
I've already watched 34 episodes and I still can't get myself to enjoy it. It's so disappointing watching this…
I think it also depends on your ML and FL prefernce. Personally I loved ELOD better then EL because the ML and FL are more showy in their affection and the FL is a warm, and bright character so I enjoyed it. I never did warm up to Bai Qian’s character somewhat cold, snobbish attitude and always felt that Mo Yuan deserved someone better that can love him as much as he loves her.
What you’re feeling for the first half of ELOD is what I felt when I was watching EL’s part with MY. Lol. Anyway, you’re past the halfway mark so I suggest finishing it just for the sake of finishing. Set it at 1.5x then skip some scenes like what I did for EL. Remember there’s still the 3rd related drama Love and Destiny so for the sake of finishing the trilogy, fighting!
I loved it don't get me wrong but some plot arcs were soo draggy and somewhat unnecessary? I skipped entire episodes…
I think it’s the writer’s formula to have 3 lifetimes with psycho girls falling for the male lead. I would prefer to have something in reverse where we have nice girls falling for the ML and psycho guys falling for the FL. Besides Ye Hua’s Psycho girls are more irritating than Dong Hua’s psycho girls. Lol.
Also hated, both in Eternal Love and Eternal Love of Dreams, that a lot of their problems could have been toned down if the FL and ML Just communicated better. They had all the power and magic but they couldn’t leave a message? Lol with the forced melodrama.
