All 8 eps subbed in WeTV app but only ep 1-2 is free. I’m barely stopping myself from watching the released eps because I want to binge watch all 36 eps! Ugh. I can’t deal with the anticipation for the electrifying chemistry between XZL and LJ!
Now just waiting for the drama gods to notice the Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi ship so they can also get 3rd and 4th collab!
English-subbed trailer is out https://youtu.be/dIRRVfrxtHE . I really love this trailer. The first part is intense…
Agree! And we all know for a fact that Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie’s chemistry is off the chart! This latest version has the same great production value as the korean version and the hot chemistry of the taiwanese version!
Personally I think Eternal Love is overrated. I only found it okay. There were too many flaws that spoiled the…
Agree! I’m currently watching Eternal Love of Dreams and I must say that I love it and Dong Hua and Fengjiu’s story more! Before i realized it I’ve watched 20 eps at 1.5x speed in 8hrs! It’s that addicting and seamless. Even the side characters are more tolerable.
Bai Qian, though a stronger FL than Feng Jui, comes off as a cold, emotionally detached, snobbish characte who could care less about Ye Hua. I like Feng Jui’s sincer, childlike character more! And Dong Hua is a revelation in Eternal Love of Dreams!
For those wishing for 2nd season, jkfan at soompi shared the link for the orig chinese novel found here http://www.jjwxc.net/onebook.php?novelid=395278&chapterid=60…
Basically Chapter 60 onwards is about Qiao Yue and Chun Hua’s 2 sons and 1 adopted daughter. Eldest son is about 13y.o. and Chun Hua is around 30 y.o.
I also noticed that the skinhip between Qiao Yue and Chun Hua is more intense in the novel @.@ and they had to tone it down for the web series. If you could remember the chemistry and scenes of Li Hongyi and Zhao Lusi then double the intensity and intimacy that’s the level for the novel. I can’t help blushing when I imagine Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi while reading chapter 61. Lol.
For season 2, I think there might be an issue with the age of Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi but I think they can make it work. I just want the Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi ship to get their 3rd collab!
Couldn't keep watching because Li Hong Yi has a weird posture. His neck is at a weird angle and it makes him look…
I think aside from the height diff so he needed to adjust posture for easier filming, his “slouch” made him look more carefree like he couldn’t careless about the martial arts world. I think it worked.
The drama is overrated so far IMO. Not worth 8.9!! It is cute but come on now. They shouldn't show the ML's hands...his…
I think I might be biased, but from the trailers I don't think this drama should be that highly rated if based largely on the chemistry of the leads. So far O still think the Zhao Lusi and Li Hong yi is the best pairing , specially the Love Better than Immortality chemistry.
But then again this drama might make up for it on the production.
Just finished this series, I must say this is like a poor adaptation of Sungkyungkwan scandal story wise.
Uvin wang (Dieyi) so far is the most believable actress for a cross dressing role because she's decently tall and her features are not too feminine. She tried her best to deliver the emotions needed per seen but I just couldn't feel the chemistry between her and Ceasar Wu (Zi'an). I liked Xie Bin Bin (Tangtang) and Liu Yi Chang (Dugu) more visually and character wise. Zi'an's character was not that special except that as the summary says he's the emperor's investigator. The main cast worked ok for the light, comedic scenes but when it came to the more dramatic scenes, their weakness in the crying scenes became so evident.
Production is acceptable as they didn't scrimp on the costume and sets. Music was also nice.
But for this project I was really disappointed that I didn't feel the cute, toe curling romance. The pacing is also a bit off as the story slacked off at the middle eps and then everything got resolved so fast in episode 21-24.
IMHO ISWAK, TKA, and Playful Kiss are still the best adaptation of Itsura na Kiss (haven’t watched the 1996 Jap version and the Thai Version). I reviewed the anime just to be sure about what Naoki and Kotoko should be like and I found that Darren Wang’s Zhi Shu missed the mark by 1 cm while Jelly Lin missed it by a kilometer.
Naoki was supposed to be cold, stoic, poker faced genius but Darren Wang looked more like the cold, fierce, demon prince like his character in Our Time but smarter. Jelly Lin was also too pretty and tall to pass off as a loser and cute at best. I also found some of the scenes where she tried to be quirky a bit off with her overzealous, insincere grin. Shi Zhu’s mom also had the same vibe like she was trying too hard to be the quirky fan girl mom.
Darren and Jelly tried their best but they didn’t have that Zing that made all ISWAK/Playfull Kiss fans go awww when they finally fell in love with each other. I don’t see Darren and Jelly’s chemistry transcending dramas and time like Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng’s chemistry does.
One of the most underated cross world drama made. I feel so wronged for this drama to get a lower rating than other dramas I’ve watched like Accidentally In Love, The Life of the White Fox, etc.
1) Compared to the other mentioned dramas, IMHO Unexpected has the best pacing for the story and that no drama cliche was ever repeated (ex. Female lead keeps sacrificing herself, etc). There was also no unnecessary highlight of the supporting characters and the love story of the leads started developing as early as ep6. No scenes were draggy and I didn’t skip scenes because all the scenes were important to He Jie and Xi Zing’s story.
2) Chemistry for Austin Lin (He Jie) and Li Hao Fei (Xi Zing) was great and their characterization was spot on. Sorry Baby squid but I felt that Xi Zing and He Jie had better romantic and kissing scenes. Xi Zing’s character is also more mature than The FL of the above mentioned dramas.
3) Lastly, though the premise might be similar to other dramas, they were able to make their own take on the cross world drama and provided easy to understand rules. The show also gave us a very logical and happy ending.
So I encourage anyone who’s interested in a fluffy but interesting drama to watch this because you’ll never be bored.
Okay I know people come here to ask about the ending but the wardrobe in this drama is just horrible. Every single…
It was actually addressed in the series several times how He Jie had poor taste from the tacky outfits of the characters, En Cai’s not so nice eyebrows, GongCheng’s naivete about love, etc. So I think the warddrobe works well with the premise that a straight dude made the manga for women. Lol.
Chemistry? What chemistry? There was biology but definitely no chemistry...hahaha
Had to search for Chu Min’s visuals. Lol. I think what will slightly help Cheng Xiao with her drama career with her limited acting skills is to be paired with an older actor with manlier/darker aura. I think she’s just too fierce/pretty for arthur chen’s candy boy look. I think the evernight chemistry clicked because the FL there was cute (Shen Yue-esque) so it helped. Like I liked the pairing of Wallace chung and angelababy more than angelababy and jing boran.
Being a Yang Shi Ze fan and a up-for-any-unique plot I started watching this drama. So to say I took my time watching…
Have you watched Lovely Swords Girl? I personally prefer the chemistry and characters in LSG than this drama. I also think Yang Shi Ze and Xu Kai Xin both look better in ancient clothing than in modern ones. But will give this drama a shot because cinematog looks nice.
This is my first Chinese RomComDrama , it was very good. ? And never get bored , any Chinese Drama can be rommend…
- Lovely Swords Girl is a good drama which is also the first project of the ML lead here. - The Eternal Love S1 & S2 - Love Better than Immortality (I need to mention this again because Zhao Lusi and Li Hongyi ship is my favorite)
Chemistry? What chemistry? There was biology but definitely no chemistry...hahaha
Lol. The reactions to this pairing is so hilarious. Reminds me of some of the reactions to Angelababy’s acting in General and I which I actually didn’t mind. I’ll still try to watch this just for Chen Xiao but will probably put it at the end of my list since I know it has a sad ending. Or will probably rewatch An episode of The Eternal Love or Love Better Than Immortality after each episode of LoA to wash off the bland taste. Lol.
PS. Maybe I’m one of the few people liking Chen Xiao’s make up here as it makes her look fiercer and more believable as a kungfu “master”. I don’t think the fairy makeup/look of Yunxi/BaiPingTing will suit her character since it will make her too cute to actually do any harm.
I waited until May 24 for iQiyi to complete uploading this drama before I start binge watching for the sake of Chen Xiao, but when I saw the comments I’m questing if this will just depress me given the sad ending. Lol. How can their chemistry be so bad when the clips of Chen Xiao and Arthur Chen BTS on YT looks like they have that same bantering interaction offscreen? Could it be because of the script?
Can someone recommend a Chinese modern romance where the ML pursues the FL first? I’m not sure about watching…
Well Intended Love is definitely one of the latest Modern Chinese dramas where the ML pursues the FL lead. The best thing about Well Intended Love is it’s available in 2 universes (season 1 & season 2) both with great endings and all available for streaming on YT, Netflix, WeTV, and iQiyi.

Google translate is ok, you get the gist but translation is a bit awkward.
