Got here due to recommendations while watching Love in Time 2020. When I saw the trailer, I was so gobsmacked! I never knew Leo Luo can be so domineering, manly, macho like that ever! With all the wrist grabbing he’s been doing to Bai Lu, I’m surprised she hadn’t broken anything yet. Lol. Will wait for all subs to finish uploading in iQiyi VIP app before watching. Hopefully it will be as electrifying as Love in Time or Well Intended Love.
Who’s here after watching the steamy scenes in the trailer? I appreciate that the leads are 30+ actors in RL coz they can be more professional in the romantic scenes and actually deliver on the romance. So far I only felt this between Liang Jie and XZL who are younger..
I checked my other faves, Xing Zhao Ling, Li Hong Yi, Dilraba, Huang Ri Ying, even YangMi should have more <3 or should be placed in higher ranking based on their filmography. Sorry for making a fuss, the title is just a bit misleading and also claim that it’s based on ML filmography but incomplete?
I think you should add 1 more <3 for Zhao Lusi. Prodigy Healer is not included in the list when she’s the lead there? She was with Li Hongyi same actor in LBTI so also add 1 <3 for Li Hong Yi? And I thought Li Hong Yi has more main roles than just 3?

From the trailers Tang min might be able to display her more feisty side as she’s pegged as a spoiled aristocracy lady. Chef Hua is more “composed” or like hot water on a simmer. I’m thinking Shen Jin will resemble sister Er Qiao’s character but richer version.
I just finished this drama and I must say they should get an ad for all the Chinese restaurant in your area because you will crave Chinese food when you watch this. Super uncomplicated story where issues are resolved after 2 episodes max. 36 episodes might be too long, and the food porn might be over-the-top, but just watch the drama at 1.5 or 1.75x speed and you wouldn’t mind the episode count that much.
The leads might not be the most popular or good looking out there, but their chemistry works. This show reminded me a bit of Story of Minglan where your female lead is not your typical God of strategy, goddess, or a cross dressing minx. Chef Hua is just your average girl that’s a great Cook surrounded by people that really care about her. But of course less drama, court intrigue, and scheming vs Minglan.
Rewatch value is not that high if you’re after the story or hot chemistry, maybe 5 at best. But if you’re after recreating the dishes in the show, you might spend 3x watching the show before you can recreate all the food in all the episodes!

This is probably the most relaxing and uncomplicated “romance” story ever. No noble idiot syndrome, even if there’s a scheming stalker the leads have 100% faith on each other, even the villains with their scheming are no match for Chef Hua and her family and friends skills, luck, dedication, etc.

Such a waste since we were in on the hype when it started and then it’s like the subbers Just lost all will after the FL showed her white hair. Lol. Still hoping that someone will pick this up and finish subbing. But I know subbing is hard work.

If you like Xing Zhao Lin I recommend just watching the Eternal Love S1 & S2, and the You Are My Destiny. These are his dramas with Liang Jie and I think she has the most chemistry so far with XZL.
So I just finished DOF and I must say not the worst but ok. I also read the last chapter of the Godly Empress Doctor which was the basis for this drama and I must say the ending and how things developed in the drama is probably the screenwriter and the producers fault. So far GED 1135 latest chapter Fengwu is still in the same “dimension” as the main cast. Wish they had better screenwriters since the story is similar to Love Better than Immortality and the Eternal Love but if the female leads here had powers and amnesia.
I also prefer Su Xiao Nuan’s other more popular work, The Demonic King Chases his wife, which already has an anime. If they adapted the anime to a cdrama, I predict it will be 100% better than DOF since the ML & FL there had better chemistry than Feng Wy and Jun Linyuan. Almost same plot as this but female doesn’t have amnesia and she ends up with the demon king. Imagine Fengwu ending up with Yu Mingyue.
I edited, I meant the female second lead. Lol. I never thought of yu mingyue as evil, he’s just the second lead. Hahaha. Yes he is really an eye candy and with great personality. Hopefully the actor gets more main lead roles. He’s got potential.

Try My Fantastic Mr. Right maybe? Though they do have some issues with girl being from some other world but generally happy and breezy drama. Usually iQiyi dramas are short and ok.
Just started watching this series and so far so good. Slow build up but I just watch everything at 1.5x speed and skip the parts with the evil female SL.
I also just noted that from all the comments below Xu Cai Cheng’s period characters have unsatisfactory endings (see Pet Dali drama). XD. But his Well Inteded Love S1&S2 modern drama has the best chemistry and ending so far.

Well usually iQiyi tends to churn out fluffy fun light dramas. Maybe this one got confused. Lol. I came here after watching Dear Herbal Lord from iQiyi. Watch that for happy ending.

Reminds me of the irritating dilemna in The Tang Dynasty Tour. I could never get on this train of marrying just to save the life of someone even if you sacrifice EVERYONES happiness.
This is what I love about iQiyi, when they get the pacing right it’s perfect! Seriously the pacing of this story is so perfect I finished the whole 24 eps in one day at 1.25x speed. Characters didn’t aimlessly move and they all had one definite direction. The side characters are also lovable like the dad, the doctor friend, immortal beings, and the governor.
The chemistry between the FL & ML is also ok as compared to other recent dramas like Chang’an Youth and On a League of Her Own. And of course iQiyi didn’t scrimp on the romantic and kiss scenes. :3 I can almost ignore the fact that the ML’s face looks weird sometimes because of the work he had on his face. I can say that the ML & FL did a great job because though they might not be the most gorgeous looking pair out there, their chemistry made up for it. They are adorable together.
This is a fun, light, and “short” fantasy/historical drama that you can watch with Eng Subs in the app. This reminds me of My Fantastic Mr. Right which is also from iQiyi. I like that most of iQiyi’s FL’s are go-getters and does what they want using their own abilities. Will probably rewatch this in the future to kill some time.
