there are 2 factions in court, the name is not official, but let's say Wang faction and Royal faction. Princess Ping Yang is not into politic and make a friend with zhang yi (a son of deputy minister of defense Zhang Feng) and a son of Duke/Earl Pingyuan . The fathers of both men are from Wang faction. So they helped princess Ping Yang to escape / elope, with the intention of weaken the father of princess ping yang, Duke / king / Prince Yu (brother of emperor, i dont know what title is the best for him), who is from Royal faction. Both of these despicable young men take a chance to rob the couple when on the way and also try to "R" princess ping yang. to maintain her chastity, she killed herself.
Not long after the news of princess ping yang escaped for elope, Grand prince/ King Yu died because of emotions and heart attacks due to attacks by his political enemies,
after the death of king yu, one by one official from Royal faction were removed from court.
heng hui who survived because of magic supernatural thing (that hand), then chase these 4 men who responsible for the death of princess Ping Yang. (Heng Yuan killed Duke/Earl Pingyuan, demon Heng Hui killed the son, and both zhang yi and zhang feng are sentenced to death by court)

I think "Grand Princess" title shouldnt be put to Huai Qing, as my experience with other palace drama, Grand Princess and Grand Princes usually a title used for brother/sister of Emperor.

And this woman is duchess Yu or duke Yu's wife. so perhaps her husband is the brother of emperor (aka grand prince),thus this pingyang is also a princess, but not a direct line of emperor, aka cousin of Lin'An and Huaiqing and 10 princes. and also in that episode, Lin'an called Pingyang "jie2"
