Just gonna do a mini review here bc I don’t feel like dedicating more time towards this drama lol. I’m just gonna say I had high expectations for this drama and I went in with the attitude of for sure I’m going to like this drama as it’s AOL cast reunion. However, I was highly disappointed and ended up skipping and fast forwarding towards the second half of this drama.
1) The first 20 eps was tolerable and decent. FL is weak as expected and ML was quite strong as expected but when ML started to become sick, it just felt like his role is progressing backwards. As the drama continues, FL still needs help and the amount of time she got injured or is sick is beyond me. Her character literally stayed the same and she had no motivation whatsoever. She kept saying she wanted to revenge and stand up to the bad guy but she did none of that. She even gave up her position as the sect leader like wtf. 2) ML and FL love story is so annoying. I love Leo so I’m just criticizing his character not his acting. ML is the root of all the problems between them like if he had been honest and willing to solve problems with her instead of for her, everything would’ve been great. He’s literally the epitome of annoyance in the relationship and it just felt like their relationship never matured. The amount of times that he saved her is also beyond me and it’s annoying that he’s saving her but he’s equally as weak!? Like how is he going to save her so many times but gets injured so badly each and every time? It’s nice at first but then it got repetitive and annoying like why can’t he become more powerful? 3) The amount of talking in this drama is the worse. There was barely any action and if there was, the fight scenes were so predictable. ML should’ve had more fight scenes like the beginning scenes where he fought with his fan but as drama progresses, he’s literally just flying. But I heard that he injured himself while filming so if it’s true than fine so be it but it was a bit disappointing considering that it’s a wuxia drama. FL fight scenes were fast forward worthy, the only impressive fight scenes was in the beginning when she trained for one year in the mountain. 4) There was a lot of unnecessary deaths like second ML didn’t deserve to die, he should’ve been the sect leader since FL gave her position up. The evil dude deserved to die but I freaking love him (Su Mu is amazing if you’ve watched tiger and rose). 5) the second half was a disaster all in all. The scriptwriter needs to stop writing scripts. You know how some people just don’t fit into a certain career like when a teacher is a bad teacher so you know they shouldn’t have chosen to be a teacher. Same concept with this scriptwriter. There could’ve been countless ways of character development and plot development but they chose the worse way possible. FL could’ve been a badass strong girl with ambition and became a bit smarter and vengeful especially when she thought ML died. ML should’ve stayed hidden longer and his character truly is the definition of reverse development. He became weak and annoying. The side characters talked too much. Only second ML was decent and true to himself, others, as well as had ambition.
I only finished this drama for Leo’s happy ending as he barely received any happy ending as second lead or support. However, after portraying Runyu and for Runyu to be such a big hit, this role was just not it lol. His acting was good but his character did him dirty.
So do I recommend? I don’t lol but if you love Leo like I do, give it a shot as his flirting in the first ten eps is to die for.

You summed it up perfectly. That was why I refused to watch tiger and rose at first bc the romance technically isn’t real as the worl was only her script. If anything, Ikind of want season two to be more focused on HS and modern him like how at first he can’t really accept HS feelings but then he grows to love QQ

I think since it’s a lighthearted drama so the tension isn’t really there. I finished the drama and honestly I do like it. However, in the later eps when things get serious, the script de-serious the plot and it makes me annoyed bc I wanted to see more tension and anger you feels

Bruh don’t even remind me of FH 4, that shit was so bad omg. I was watching it and I’m done with 9 eps so far. The plot is not bad, I think the pacing is quite nice and there are some scenes where it’s kind of predictable like typical tvb but For comparison with FH 4, this drama is ten times better. Priscilla is doing quite well in this role in my opinion, especially her emotional scenes. I say give it a try!
