Thank you for writing this article! It's nice to be reminded about the different portrayals of love and relationships. I might be reiterating your point but Quiet Love as you put it is appealing to watch because people at their core want to be accepted and understood. To see 2 people who are complete strangers over time become intimates is therapeutic. Your point about introverts (me) also stuck with me. Love doesn't have to be so hard and filled with drama. Another aspect of Quiet Love is the portrayal of personalities. I like seeing quiet, introverted, reserved, or shy characters be accepted by their partner FROM THE BEGINNING. It's also nice to see 2 people who are more alike than different. The whole opposites attract sounds nice and can be fun to watch on the screen, but it is equally nice to see 2 people click so well because of their similar views/likes/etc. One more thing! Another aspect of Quiet Love is the quieter passion sexually. I really enjoy these storylines because I find them different from the Innocent vibe some Kdramas go for, it seems more realistic. The fact is- everyone expresses intimacy differently. A healthy relationship does not have to equate to having sex a lot or in shows, making out a lot from the get-go. For some people, slow and steady is their type of intimacy when dating and can continue in the marriage. It doesn't have to come from an Innocent root ( age, naivete, or lack of experience) it can be the wish of 2 people naturally. Hugs can be passionate! Sometimes I find with Kdramas, the "innocent" intimacy is used for the purpose of adopting a Conservative vibe instead of naturally incorporating it in the storyline- this is the couple's choice! Agency. Just like in the U.S- hot passion can be thrown in rather than incorporated in the storyline to where it's just used as bait.
10/10 in my book and I never give high ratings easily. If you are looking to be reminded of the best of humanity,…
Also, the ending with the best friend deciding to work at Move to Heaven full time made me hope to see their relationship grow to a romance. Gradually. They are only 20 years old at this point, so if the story could continue to a second season and beyond, I would love to see their relationship and the Uncle too! Along with their amazing work at Move to Heaven.
10/10 in my book and I never give high ratings easily. If you are looking to be reminded of the best of humanity, you are in the right place. All of the characters felt incredibly real. To me, this show while sad at times (not depressing though!) was a slice of life for me. There are really good lessons to be taken from this drama without being overly preachy or falling flat. The main character is one I would love to see continue to grow as an adult, he is only 20 years old at this point but I would love to watch his story continue. His character, relationships, and work are all very interesting. PLEASE LET THE SHOW CONTINUE WITH A SECOND SEASON. <3
Wait so Japanese one is better but lacked details and thorough backstory?
Hello. Sorry, I didn't realize I wrote an incomprehensible sentence. I re-edited it. The Japanese version is better- details and the romance was cut in the Korean version.
Did anyone else find Mr. Goo (or Koo) more interesting than the female lead's romance storyline? It would be cool if his character was the main character and it focused on his relationship with his son and finding love again. He was the most interesting male character and overall character in the show for me.
I LOVED how in the end the Male Lead wasn't cured. He realized his anger stems from himself. She is not going to magically redirect it where it's only to protect her. Nah, dude. You just have anger issues.
Loved the writing. The take on 2 imperfect people was executed as well as it could be. My only criticism- I would have loved it if there were more episodes so we could have seen more of their romance. At times, I felt it was a little rushed and boy meets girl (cliche) BUT I get it. It was innocent-y (English is my first language- I just.. -_-). I was hoping for more of a mature companionship vibe. Though they definitely respected each other and protected each other a great deal.
Just started it and Y'ALLL- Episode 3 onwards is literally how I wanted the storyline of The Beauty Inside Second Couple (Sa Ra and Eun Ho) to continue just for them. Episode 3 is how The Beauty Inside ended. I WANTED SEASON 2! YAYYYYY. I'm living through this couple in this drama, they are so similar to Sa Ra and Eun Ho.
I really enjoyed watching the drama- I love the historical romance genre! But there's something missing and I'm…
PLUS- What the heck writers, I wanted to see the second couple become a couple! Amber was gorgeous and amazing and the second male lead's character was so interesting. I realized I haven't seen a historical drama where the main or even second couple is of a low-born girl servant with an aristocratic man that isn't the Emperor (HELLO! That's amazing). If there is, I need the names, please!
