Ep 1- 12 is the show showing us what mental illness can look like...It's meant to show how Dusik can be doing…
The Doha's father IMO is meant to throw more reason for Dusik's guilt. I mean you already see some commenters saying that they feel Dusik should not feel so guilty since it's not his fault, the Doha's father thing is mean to solidify the reason Dusik is feeling the way he is.
The going back to Seoul, I agree is not really needed, but I believe the writer wanted to make it clear that not only is Dusik conflicted within the relationship, but Hye Jin has her own conflicts as well. They didn't want to make the last few episodes a Dusik centric arc, but also wanted to show that Hye Jin is also sacrificing a lot to be with Dusik. It's a small mention that I am sure, will not occupy too much time in later episodes.
Only time will tell how the writers will end it. But with their constant surprise for us the viewers in straying away from cliche'd expectation, I feel they will end this well.
I would rather they show a Dusik on the recovery, rather than a Dusik who is just saying Sorry over and over again. I want that distance I feel between Dusik and Hye Jin to be gone.
I might be in minority but here me out:The pace of the drama I don't find it much problematic tbh. The writer…
I agree with this.
Let's talk for example the show When the Camellia Bloom. Since the suspense plot was intertwined so early on the drama, it could never really feel as happy as it should. There was always this somber, serious tone that dominated the drama.
Homecha didn't want such a tragic backstory to overshadow the story it was trying to tell. By saving the unravelling of the backstory as long as it did, it allowed us the viewers to be fully invested in the love, character development, and side stories of the drama. It allowed us to create our own mentally strong walls that brook no question on the loyalty, and love Dusik, Hye Jin and the rest of the villagers had for each other.
In many ways, we always knew a big storm is coming to Homecha, and we all needed episode 1-12 to act as emotional sandbags to protect us from the torrential typhoon that Ep. 13 - 15 will be.
Every time whenever a character has said to other character : "You should have died instead" it have hurt me so…
It's such a real reaction though... it happens in real life. And people get scarred from these words...
unfortunately, it wont' stop people from doing it, since whenever there is tragedy, blaming someone or something for them is the way to achieve closure.
This show has some pacing issues. How was this episode 14?? This should have been episode 12 or at max 13. How…
Ep 1- 12 is the show showing us what mental illness can look like...
It's meant to show how Dusik can be doing random jobs, always smiling, be happy with Hye Jin, but in the end he is still alone, and distant and needs help.
Ep. 11 was really more to show Hye Jin's insecurities and her own mental issues.
If they had build up the drama of Dushik any earlier, the side stories would have lost their lustre, as all people will talk about is Dushik's past. The episodes are paced like so, so that we viewers will focus more on the lives of Gongjin, rather than Dushik's past.
Today's episode as expected was really emotional... But the way Hye Jin handled their relationship was so nice...…
For her first mature relationship, she is doing excellent, she pushed her own issues aside, and is being that rock for Dusik. Although she still has her own insecurities, she realizes they dwarf in comparison to what Dusik is feeling.
I was ready for heartbreaks at ep 14 from ep 13 preview but im glad it didnt actually happen. Frstly, the support…
That's why it was so important for the show to develop these side characters, so that when their stories eventually intertwine, there is so much emotion in their scenes.
Same thoughts ! They could have had impactful storyline than gongjin people by cutting down few scenes .
Disagree, the first 10 episodes was so important in establishing Dusik, Hye Jin, and the pillar of support for both of them that is the villagers of Gongjin.
Ik everyone is loving this show but these story lines regarding SeonA Doha etc can be developed from much earlier…
It would have completely changed the dynamic of the show.
The reason you don't intertwined Seona and Doha from the beginning is that it will take away a lot of the romance/healing the show is trying to achieve in the first 12 episodes.
Also, it is much more poignant and powerful to show Dusik being this happy, smiling and perfect guy for more than 12 episodes, only to show us that this whole 12 episodes has just been a lie, has just been a facade he has been putting up. It gives Dusik so much more depth.
We don't need to understand and suffer with Dusik in the earlier episodes, we just need to understand and love him from here on out...
when ji pd assistant mentioned about his dad, I thought now dushik will be happy to know that bcz of his herbs…
I thought the timing was perfect. His past bubbling up in front of all the people who knew him. And the worst part, he is not even doing anything to defend himself, making people start to question their loyalties to him.
I am hoping the villagers band together and realize that Dusik is still the same man they have known since then.
All i want to know is what happened... And why people blaming Chief Hong for every unfortunate event. How it's…
When someone close to you passes away, you will blame the easiest person to blame. Most people will fight back, and claim it's not their fault, but because of HDS already blaming himself for his grandfather's death, he was in the perfect storm to accept responsibility and guilt, eventhough it may not be his fault in the first place.
There are people who are just too pure for the world, who become easy targets for those wanting to blame someone.
Well that would make the emphasis and focus of the script, on his struggle and trauma, too exaggerated and honestly…
Even if it's not his fault, having people blame you for people dying sticks with you.
We can't judge what traumatizes a person, sometimes it takes a big significant event to horribly scar someone, but sometimes it takes just one event. The reasons of why people get depressed is as many as the specks of sands we see in the beach.
As third party observers it is not up to us to decide, which speck of sand, or rather how many specks of sand it requires for a person to deserve a mental breakdown...
I find it very very realistic, especially in this society. It's not easy to just tell someone "get over it, it's not your fault". If the world was that easy to fix, therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist would all be out of work.
This is what I meant when I said that Kdramas are bad at ending storylines of characters. They rush things in…
I disagree, I think the pacing of the storyline is actually quite good. I don't feel the rush of the storylines here compared to other Kdrama's I have seen.
Which storylines did you feel was rushed?
The last few episodes have been some of the most realistic and mature showing of relationships that I have seen in Kdrama. It all felt so real, and relatable.
And because of KSH's natural acting talent, we are able to see his change in demeanor, his defensive walls, and etc...
I was so disappointed when the writer was justifying how Yeong Guk is still a good husband to Hwa Jeong, yess…
To be fair to Yeong Guk, his screen time in Ep. 14 was needed to show the kind of guy he is.
Hwa Jeong, knew at the time he was doing it out of pity, but she was just lying to herself that he will eventually love her. She said just as much. Hwa Jeong herself did not love him when they got married, but eventually she started to care for him. Yeong Guk on the other hand, kept pining for another girl.
But it took 15 years of stupidity and a divorce to show him that he has actually always cared about Hwa Jeong, he was just too dumb to see it. And he was also too dense that she cared for him as well.

People have killed themselves for less reasons... let us not minimize what Dusik is feeling...

1. Make Hye Jin Happy
2. Be happy WITH you for a long time.
As it shows he has matured past just making her happy, but also wanting to be happy along with her.
Hwa Jeong, knew at the time he was doing it out of pity, but she was just lying to herself that he will eventually love her. She said just as much. The Ep. 11 and 12 fluff makes even more sense now when watched in conjunction with 13 and 14.
