I disagree, both Grandma and HJP wanted to tell the truth earlier, it's NDS that is stalling for the reasons I stated above.
And NDS is not the victim here. If he had just told SDM he had a GF, it would all be over, in fact.
Here's the thing though, for HJP sake, I don't see his life as being complete, or his life as being easy. He has had to work hard to get where he is, we don't see things just easily come to him in terms of luck and fortune.
For NDS, he is pretty much the male version of a Mary Sue. Whenever he needed something to level up so to speak, the writer just gave it to him, there was very little build up. And these "hardships" that NDS encounters are not true hardships IMO, but rather tiny walls set up by the writer.
I already know the writer is just going to dump romantic moves after romantic moves, maybe even a run through the rain chasing the girl moment. And there's going to be moves showing great sacrifice for the girl and etc... And I feel all that stuff incoming will be so so so forced, that I will have a hard time believing it.
In fact the writer has written NDS very inconsistently, and it becomes increasingly hard to make a believable second half where NDS does a 180 degrees. Because a 180 degree turn from NDS would equate to him losing the girl, and the writers are not going to allow that to happen.
Everything that you're saying could be argued that way but I think it's just a case of the writer showing her…

But facts are facts. You don't allow a girl to touch you, kiss you based on a lie and not show at least an ounce of guilt.
Even a simple scene where they show NDS telling HJP, I can't stand it anymore lying to her, I need to tell her the truth. Instead in the spoiler of next episodes we see that he chose to continue lying because he didn't want to see SDM cry. I mean come on, the viewers are not that stupid.
I mean HJP when he is being mean, later feels some sort of remorse, for NDS, there is very little of it.
Like I mean, we all know that NDS knows that HJP has feelings for SDM, and he is purposely speeding up the courtship with SDM so that HJP doesn't stand a chance, it's so manipulative and scheming.
NDS even actually threatens HJP to tell the truth, but we never see HJP doing this.
NDS is going down dark paths, that HJP don't dare tread.
I don't know if I can respect NDS as a ML, he is just so manipulative.
Here are my gripes:
1. He had many many occasions where he could have told the truth, but he chooses not to, not because HJP stops him, but because he himself chooses not to.
2. When HJP wanted to tell the truth, NDS wanted to continue the lie, because he hasn't reached a point where SDM is falling for him yet.
3. It's becomes very obvious that the reason SDM likes NDS is 75% the 15 year fake history, and maybe 25% NDS himself. He know this, and yet he still allows SDM to touch him, kiss him and etc... without an ounce of guilt.
4. He breaks the story of grandma as a way of scoring more brownie points with both SDM and Grandma. He knew after the SDM moment on the roof, the time was ripe, that he was replacing HJP in SDM heart, so he calculated what steps he needed to take to get there.
5. When HJP was in grandma's house, NDS goes out of his way to kick HJP out to not crash into his moment. He is trying to work on getting more relationship points with bot SDM and Grandma, and didn't want HJP there. If i'm in HJP shoes, i'm hurt, because he has a much closer and longer history with both SDM and Grandma.
6. He keeps asking SDM why she likes him, using it to gauge if he has overtaken 15 year fake history with HJP yet or not.
7. He attempts to ignore that the 15 year feelings for fake dosan was not real, and he is rewriting history so to speak.
8. He outright adds new lies to his narrative, and he is very good at the lying part. When you see HJP or even Grandma lie, they can't even look straight in the eye, and they sometimes panic, or make up stuff that doesn't sound convincing. But for NDS it's as easy as breathing.
I'm sure i'm missing more poor form moments from NDS, but these are the ones that really grate on my nerves. Not only is NDS selfish, and manipulative, he is also acting like a huge brat.

it's closer to an 8.6 for me, the story is not bad, but a lot of unnecessary scenes. Could have benefited with tighter writing and better pacing. Overall the leads are attractive, and there are some good sad moments sprinkled with funny moments.

To be quite frank, the reason HJP has become so popular is because the way HJP is written represents all past ML in other Kdrama, the aloof, cold, not good at opening up, lonely, will probably wait to the last moment to confess his love ML.
And the fans here have seen this type of ML typecast in numerous Kdrama, so we are used to rooting for this type of guy.
While NDS is more of the immature, wears his heart on his sleeve up and comer, who we are not so used to rooting for, since most of the time, this type of persona ends up being in the SL position.

So probably around ep 14 or something, NDS will have done so many romantic things that will completely erase the memory of 15 years, then just like that HJP is out of the picture.

Other than HJP and Grandma, WIJ is a huge scene stealer for me, I am so disappointed there aren't more scenes with her, she's smart, capable and not insecure, the complete opposite of SDM who is really getting on my nerves with her whining.

The purpose of triangles has always been to create ships and fandoms. I think they are doing a great job making the race for SDM so tight. If they had made the triangle very one sided, people would find it boring, and thus make the viewing experience less enjoyable.
What they could have done instead is focus on the familial aspect, a popular theme in kdrama still.
People don't really watch Kdrama to glean significant information about a particular industry or topic, Kdrama historically suck at their research as compared to western shows, who hire actual industry consultants to make the shows as accurate as possible.
