This is one of the few kdramas that people ship the secondlead more. Hahaha just look at the twitter , fb comments…
That has more to do with KSH's excellent portrayal of HJP than anything. He is completely nailing the role. It also doesn't help NJH isn't playing his role well. If you told me NDS is suppose to be a nerd, I don't buy it.
Ever since NDS cut his hair, he became your typical ML with the angst and etc.. not the socially awkward, naive, innocent he started out as.
I'd be ok if the remaining episodes focused on the sisters instead, and SDM doesn't end up with either men.A time…
Same, I was excited about learning about business and tech stuff, and not get invested in another love triangle.
I'll have to disagree, she reminds me of the people that I know in my real life, who compares about every single thing, and jubilates over every single thing they beat me at or are better than me at.
SDM has this inferiority complex caused by being the younger sister. Even the Grandma is tired of it. A life, where you are constantly trying to catch up to your siblings achievement is not a great life, trust me, I know.
I personally can't stand people like these, and just avoid them, or just smile and nod when talking to them.
To SDM, it's not enough to match her sister, she needs to beat her sister. It's toxic TBH.
WIJ has her fault in needling her sister, it was unnecessary, and since WIJ's character isn't' being developed properly, it just makes her appear heartless.
But let's not forget, this is the same little girl, who cried bucket of tears when her father was being beaten up by his boss. You just don't lose that humanity that quickly, it's still there.
I agree with what you said. When they went to meet in the park, something magic happened between them like time…
Ugh WIJ and HJP, just doesn't' work, they are too similar, their work life and personal life would cross way too much.
I guess I prefer Saha over WIJ also.
At this point though, I can't realistically imagine HJP will suddenly have a random love line. Hopefully Grandma adopts him, and he ends up taking care of her during her blind days.
The whole misunderstanding and the fake letters are blocking everyone's evolution and they are like stucked waiting…
I haven't learned a single new thing about AI probably since the 2nd or 3rd episode.
At first the plot of start ups, how they are formed, how they work, how incubators work, what korea's silicon valley looks like and etc.. intrigue me. But so far all that information probably make up 2% of the whole show. Too bad too, because it was quite interesting.
The show has extended the whole lying thing for way too long, they need to end it ep. 9, but that is highly unlikely.
Here is how I see it playing out.
9-11 - Ramifications of the lie, angst, you have to choose him or me blah blah. SDM chooses NDS, HJP is sad. 12 - 14 - problem with the app, some betrayal by a close friend, revenge arc start and ends here. HJP comes to save day, still supports NDS and SDM like his family, all hug, and it's all good. 15 - with HJP on board, the app goes thru the funding series quite quickly, and the app becomes a globat hit, and samsang tech is super succesful. NDS get's opportunity by Alex to come to the US he takes it. Time Skip. 16 - NDS and SDM reuinted, spend the remained of the episode as fan service, see where everyone ended up.
yeah it's sad but the writer also focuses on the triangle love lately so I can't blame these shippers
You'll find very few Kdrama that actually focus on the business/technical aspect of the shows, whether they are legal courtroom dramas, medical dramas, tech dramas, crime dramas and etc...
It's very different to how a western show is produced, where they actually hire expert consultants to get the information as accurate as possible, with some embellishments.
Kdrama, has always been about love lines, relationships, speckled with a bit of business, technical plots.
I'd be ok if the remaining episodes focused on the sisters instead, and SDM doesn't end up with either men.A time…
Well because more time with HJP not in the picture will eventually solidify SDM feelings for NDS, that's how the plot is being written right now. So a time skip, would seal off HJP from the equation completely.
I don't want to see more SDM, she's kind of a over jealous, over competitive, bratty younger sister.
WIJ on the other hand i'd be interested in. I mean just look at her staff, and their loyalty to her. She's a born leader, she impresses me. I want to know more about her, how she felt about her decision to follow the mom, how she really felt about her dad, grandma. Her current life, everything really.
I feel there are many ways her story can break, but alas, there is not enough episodes to focus on any of this. Probably 2-3 episodes conflict about the Lie, 1-2 episodes about problems with their app, then 1-2 episodes to get SDM and NDS married or something. Maybe add 1 episode showing SDM torn between HJP and NDS, only to choose NDS.
I can already imagine SDM's word to HJP.
"HJP, you've been there for me in the start. You were my first love, and i'll always cherish that, i'll always remember that. But NDS is my true love, i'm sorry."
I agree with what you said. When they went to meet in the park, something magic happened between them like time…
I actually have NDS going to the US not Dalmi.
I think Dalmi and WIJ will somehow take over Morning Group, giving financial stability to the sister, mother and grandma. I feel WIJ was underutilized, she had a lot of emotional baggage herself and her POV would have been interesting, but I doubt there are enough episodes to flesh out her story.
So when NDS comes back SDM is successful in her own right, and not dependent on NDS anymore.
But sorry, there is no ending I can see for HJP that would not be tragic. The most he can hope for is that Grandma invites him to dinner sometimes...
I thought this drama would be about start-ups but ended been a battle between ships. And it doesn't have anything…
ever since I saw the slow moment panning in the park, I knew the HJP ship was sunk. The writer leaves no doubt on his end game couple bias.
I'm just here hoping for some good storylines for WIJ and HJP. Hoping for their happy ending.
I've lost interest in SDM, and cringe whenever I see NDS. I heard NJH is a popular actor, but after watching Start Up, I'm not sure I can watch anything with him in it. KSH on the other hand i'm going to be stanning.
I'm in the same boat. But I just rewatched a few HJP and SDM scenes, and their scenes are such fire, so much chemistry.…
The way I actually see it is:
SDM is drawn to HJP, she is nosy about him. There is something about HJP that makes SDM curious, and she probably doesn't know why. She slept in his car, when she normally doesn't sleep in stranger's cars.
It's funny, because even though she doesn't know he is the fake Dosan, he still makes her feel supported and comforted just by being there, and she can't explain it at all.
Even though she is suppose to be in love with NDS, without doing anything, HJP is making her interested about him. Just by being him.
I agree with what you said. When they went to meet in the park, something magic happened between them like time…
I mean, from episode 2, it shows clearly who the director wants end game couple to be. It doesn't provide any ambiguity to keep the fans guessing.
Having consistent romantic scenes, slow motion panning shots, love at first moment, just makes having a love triangle useless.
It's like, imagine a Kdrama with a supposed love triangle, but you see the second lead maybe 25% of the time. It becomes hard to believe the second lead has any chance at all.
That's what happening here, because of all these obvious cues on who the end game couple is, the mystery of the man SDM will choose becomes far too predictable.
Add to the fact that KSH is such a scene stealer as a SL, and the writer dropped the ball here.
Me personally i'm not a fan of time jumps, since realistically, a lot of things can happen in one year, that there is no guarantee the love would stay the same. I've seen time jumps in Kdrama of 3-5 years, and the couple still ends up together, very unrealistic.
But good to know.
Because to be honest, I've always felt that even with money, HJP's life was unfulfilled and empty.
NDS on the other hand, if he never had met SDM, he would still be ok, as he will eventually get somewhere due to winning CODA.
Ever since NDS cut his hair, he became your typical ML with the angst and etc.. not the socially awkward, naive, innocent he started out as.
But yeah, pretty sure he died.
Hoping for a few years time skip then to give HJP time to heal and find someone.
Watched enough Kdramas to see the standard plotting direction.
It's too bad though, I thought Start Up would be more unique. Other than KSH's acting, I don't think Start Up will be entering my top 10 list.
I admit it had a promising start though. The romance just killed it.
I cried the first episode, because Grandma and HJP were so sweet together. I haven't' shed a single tear since.
I'll have to disagree, she reminds me of the people that I know in my real life, who compares about every single thing, and jubilates over every single thing they beat me at or are better than me at.

Prove me wrong writers!

A time skip only favors NDS the way I see it.
SDM is drawn to HJP, she is nosy about him. There is something about HJP that makes SDM curious, and she probably doesn't know why. She slept in his car, when she normally doesn't sleep in stranger's cars.

SDM when talking about how she thought HJP may have some romantic interest on her, actually can't keep her gaze, and smiles and looks away.
This shows a little bit of shyness at the possibility.
So yeah, I don't think SDM thinks HJP is unattractive or not handsome at all.
Having consistent romantic scenes, slow motion panning shots, love at first moment, just makes having a love triangle useless.
