Right... are we forgetting they almost split up because of how they were accusing Do san of skimping them out…
In the beginning it's always been about equal share, that's why the name is Sam tech. It's always been implied they had equal power. That is why their share division at the start was equal shares.

Yet, when push comes to shove it's not.

Being able to write the flaws of a character doesn't equate into hate, it just shows ones ability to observe and record. When we are praising manipulative tendencies I have to defend. Since in real life, someone who appropriates somebody else's history is called fraud, no matter how romantic the reasoning.

The scene in question when you say to someone, ok you choose left or right, and i'll accept your decision. And you choose left, and then changes your decision to right. And I tell you, well sorry, I want left so tough luck if you want right. Is the definition of manipulative. It shows that in the beginning if you had chosen right, I would have vetoed you right away. Do you want a clearer example of how this is manipulative?

It will take time, but i'll post it on the discussions forums. It will include all the wrong things NDS has been doing from my perespective.

Hate is a strong word, NDS rubs me the wrong way, and is not my favorite character due to his manipulative ways.

The thing is, he prolonged/extended a lie that didn't need to get more complex. He also made SDM's future pain from finding out the truth much much more painful. And his insecurity and over competitiveness with HJP has really made him such a dark character doing things that is uncharacteristic with his initial portrayal in the first 2 episodes.

He never once hurt others? His decisions thus far, have been more about SDM than his company, that hurts his investors, his coworkers, his parents. He has been lucky that HJP is helping SDM or else they would have failed by now.

And as i've said in other post. For someone supposedly kind and warm hearted, he shows none of this to HJP, who actually is helping him more than anybody else in the show. No gratitude either.

Grandma decides to tell SDM the truth.
Ep 3 Timestamp 40:45
HJP accepts Grandma's decision.

NDS tells HJP he will tell SDM the truth
EP 7 Timestamp 3:40
In this scene, this is two male egos butting. HJP tries to discourage NDS from telling the truth, giving him some opinions that it can hurt he current state of the company. But NDS, who does not like HJP and feels very insecure and competitive with HJP is taunting HJP. He is pretty much goading here. NDS pretty much says, watch my short time with her is going to be more impactful than your letters. This is like a slap in the face tbh, and cruel from NDS.

The points your making, can you timestamp them, i'm not sure what your talking about.

NDS has not in anytime been keeping up the lie to protect Grandma and HJP. He even betrays Grandma's trust by telling about her eyes.

NDS has always been about one person, and that is NDS. He is not a selfless person, every move he does benefits him in some way. Even making the app for Grandma, makes him star shine brighter in SDM eyes.

HJP on the otherhand, keeps saying he does all this for the debt to grandma, but we all know that is not true. Yet, he can't take any credit for doing any of this for his love of SDM. In fact, all the good thing he does for the company just shows to SDM how close of a "brotherhood" NDS and HJP is suppose to have.

We should all pity HJP as a tragic hero, because that is what he is.

And all your doing is reminding me, how manipulative NDS has been throughout this series.

I thought that scene was so surprising, that supposedly close friends would fight that aggressively over something that wasn't even set in stone.

Dosan is unfair because he makes Chul San and Yong San have false feelings of being equal partners and equal votes. But when push comes to shove it's more or less NDS decision and he just ignores his friends. Such a great guy right?

When it came time to choose CEO, chul san and yong san both wanted WIJ. But NDS convinced them well it's better to go with SDM because she will work for us, and not we work for her. He even tells them, you guys decide i'll do whatever you say.

But when they find out SDM is only high school grad, they wanted to switch to WIJ, but NDS said no, and he said my decision is final.

I was like, WOW, that is kinda manipulative there, and that was one of the first time I realize that NDS can be quite manipulative.

I have more examples if you want. In fact I can probably write an essay why I feel NDS isn't' the nicest guy if your interested.

Right... are we forgetting they almost split up because of how they were accusing Do san of skimping them out of their shares? And how Dosan himself has shown to have a terrible temper, that he hides behind knitting. That's scary, if he doesn't bottle up his anger properly, he can explode at any moment in anger.

It was only after Yong San and Chul San realizing that, they had no rights to samtech, since technically it's NDS company, and they are just tag alongs that they conceded to him. The only reason they were allowed to samtech was because they were NDS friends. So they realize, they didn't have the right to get angry since no Dosan no company.

Actually, if you rewatch the episodes. Grandma and HJP are the ones who are ok with the truth coming out, but severaal times they wanted to, either NDS didn't want, or NDS did something that made telling the truth the wrong timing. And as the lie gets bigger and bigger, the truth becomes harder and harder to uncover.

When grandma told HJP she will tell SDM the truth, he doesn't say much or stops her. When NDS tells HJP he will tell SDM the truth, he has the same reaction. Compare that to when NDS is being told to tell the truth, you'll see a stark difference between the two.

I can find the episodes and time stamp if your interested.

Yeah but SDM is the densest person, people are actively poorly lying to her, but she just takes it all at face value. Initially, it makes NDS nervous to lie, but just watch succeeding episodes, the lies become more and more natural to him. Gone is the twitching and nervous hands.

Rewatch the episodes, you can see how difficult it is for HJP not to tell the truth. When SDM ask HJP if he loves her, watch his reaction. It's heart wrenching. Then compare that to when NDS has to tell a lie, or has a chance to tell the truth.

This may just be an acting thing, and maybe NDS is trying to portray remorse, but NJH is just not able to portray it properly. While KSH is doing a good job showing it. Who knows.

HJP couldn't care less about NDS and Samsan tech (the trio only). He is there as an investor and for their lies.…
He is not directly helping NDS or Samsan Tech. He is doing all of this for SDM sake, but NDS and Samsan Tech indirectly benefit from this.

Regardless of HJP's motive, NDS and Samsan Tech are benefiting from the business perspective. A simple thank you would have sufficed. There is not even one mention of if HJP will get monetary compensation, keep in mind HJP isn't a shareholder in the company, nor is he considered a consultant.

AFAIK, HJP is doing all these things for free. He has already gone past the whole mentorship role, he has as big if not bigger contribution to many members of samsan tech except for NDS. Yet he gets no appreciation from anyone from samsan tech, especially not NDS. If anything NDS has made HJP feel unwelcome.

The only thankful person here is SDM, she knows samsan tech would not be where it is without HJP, and that's just the plain old truth.

There are at least five things off the top of my head where HJP's directly/indirectly caused samsan tech's success.

Yeah, SDM is definitely caught in between.

I have my won gripe with her personality, it's not the best for the FL role. I am hoping that before the end, she realizes that her toxic competition with her sister is irrelevant and she starts learning to forgive and the bond of the sister will improve.

I don't know if it's the acting or the way the character is written but.

HJP shows a lot more remorse for continuing the lie than NDS does. And the audience picks up on it. So on paper sure, they are both lying, but in the devil lies the details.

dear writer-nim, since you've pretty much set your mind who she'll end up with. can we have alternative endings?…
I think because the writer bias is so obvious, even the hardest MIJI shipper won't be hugely disappointed since the writing is already on the wall.

I mean don't get me wrong it's going to hurt like heck, but it's expected. Like a needle poke during a flu shot.

I realized now what bothers me most about NDS.

He is just not thankful to HJP at all.

HJP has done A LOT to help Samtech and NDS. Yet not even one note of gratitude, zero. In fact the opposite happens, NDS is actually spiteful of HJP.

SDM on the other hand is very thankful to HJP, and even gives him gifts. He realizes all the help HJP is giving them, but NDS either doesn't realize or doesn't care.

I mean, NDS just comes off as ungrateful to me, and that I think is my main point of contention.

Let's not forget, if not for HJP, Samsan tech would already have been stolen among other things.

NDS has a hard time controlling his temper from what we've seen. I'm pretty certain he will throw the success of noongil out of the window because of his anger at HJP.

His anger for HJP is well documented since episode 2, and it's going to froth to the top in episode 9.

NDS and HJP biggest difference.

From the very beginning, HJP has never done anything to make NDS look bad in front of SDM, in fact it's been the opposite, he is like the unwilling wingman for NDS, propping up NDS best qualities for SDM to see.

But since day one, NDS has been angry, spiteful at HJP. He has also tried multiple times to push HJP out and is overly jealous and competitive with HJP, when HJP himself has never let him and SDM even have one moment. And despite all the helpful things HJP has done for NDS, he has never once been thankful, but rather he has been confrontational.

No this isn't true, it's the other way around, i've explained this in my other post. It is to NDS benefit not to tell the truth yet. He only tells that to HJP in that one scene as a threat.

why does everyone hate nam do san? y'all out here talking about how he's a boring character and how you cringe…
How has NDS changed:

NDS before he met SDM

1. Goofy
2. Nerdy Charm
3. Loyal and very close to his friends
4. Low self esteem
5. Aimless and not ambitious in his career
6. Poor self motivator. His parents always showing up at his office is probably one of the few things that pushes him to work and aim higher.
7. Honest
8. Innocent
9. Naive

NDS after he met SDM

1. Serious
2. Suave
3. Questionable loyalty to friends, prefers to side with SDM than his friends, although he makes it like it's for the friends benefit as well.
4. For some reason, even lower self esteem, also tack in new insecurities.
5. Also for some reason, people think he has become ambitious, but he has actually become even less ambitious in his career, more ambitious in the love department.
6. His parents motivating him, has been replaced by SDM motivating him. Still a poor self motivator.
7. Manipulative
8. Edgy
9. No longer naive, some of his actions belie someone who is a bit Sharky.

I think the main reason people are disliking him are his persona has become substantially darker. In comparison look at the CEO of Pied Piper in the show Silicon Valley in HBO, after several season, and several drama, he is still the same likeable, dorky, introverted guy, he doesn't do a complete 180 on his personality the way NDS does.

I actually think an NDS personality before he meets SDM would be far easier to root for IMO.

WELL, I Think the writer might have expected this fan wars lol.. Because NDS goal is to turn a misunderstanding…
HJP saying to pay his debt is just a cover for his real reason. Even Grandma questions HJP, "Why go to all this trouble for your debt to me? Do you like SDM?" I think she ask this question in episode 2.

Even SDM herself ask HJP why he is doing all of this in episode 4 or 5 I think.

The whole debt thing is just an excuse.

The purpose of it all is to set up a more believable love triangle situation. Because without the first episode, no one would consider HJP a contender, considering HJP and SDM have very little onscreen time together.

To be honest, the writer should have made HJP even colder, even harsher, even more nasty than he is. But because, all his harshness is tempered by a simmering golden heart, it becomes very very hard to dislike him.
