They built her up just to kill her off cementing PM on Lee Rim's side... I'm still incredibly pissed about that.
I am praying to all the Kdrama gods out there, that all that paint he is stirring is actually a chemical for a super nuclear bomb that he plans to use to blow up the royal palace.

Please be true!

I say nothing.Keep up the mood.Fighting! ^^
The thing is, like you said TE dresses like a tomboy, is crass, rude, and not overall attractive. And even in real life, I can imagine falling for someone like TE, but only after time has passed, and I see her inner beauty, and I fall for her other good qualities.

Let us compare two similar moments in two characters life that are parallel so to speak.

Case 1, LG is saved by a guy who has TE badge. LG falls in love with Badge girl. I don't buy this.

Case 2. Shinjae is getting beaten up, he might have died even, judging from the amount of blood, real life TE, not just a badge saves him, plus we hear some pretty cool lines that a hero/heroine may say. SJ hearts flutter, and he starts falling. I buy this.

Which of the two is more realistic? heck, let's not even talk realism, which of the scenarious would majority of kdrama watchers appeal to more?

Thank God for Netflix, I just fast forward all the scenes with LG and TE, and I have not missed anything.

There is a line between Cringe and Swoon, this drama is so far past the line.

This is just not true, show me proof that the media killed TKEM in korea. This is baseless. Sure media could have written it's a flop and etc... But the amount of hype, the cast, production value, KES as writer would have gotten people to watch it at least.

Now the korean audience continuing to watch, thats another story, you'll see plenty of dramas that may start with high ratings, but as the plot, writing, acting gets worse and worse, they just start to drop the dramas, which leads to lower ratings.

Maybe SK are not as patient as international audience, because for argument sake, let's assume that loyal kdrama watchers have watched all 2019 dramas. But keep in mind, on netflix there are only so many 2020 dramas. It's a fraction of the dramas actually produced in 2020. So us international viewers don't have much choice. We've watched CLOY already, so only thing left are KTEM and mystic pop up bar. It's not like we have access to TWOTM or once again, or other trending korean dramas. So if we drop KTEM, what else is there to watch, we end up rewatching older dramas on netflix.

Korean audience don't have this problem, because they have lots of dramas to choose from. If I were to pull a number, I would say there are probably a least 20 dramas showing in korea right now.

I think you'll notice that the drama portrays LG as next level genius, other than being good in fighting, super rich, tall, handsome and etc... He is also portrayed as one of the smartest people in the world.

Evidence of this is seen of him presented with a confusing dilemma, paradox, theory, and him figuring out the truth in the span of like 10-15 seconds.

I've seen it happen I believe 3-4 times already in the drama, so i'm not suprised anymore, he is just that smart!

How is it different from other dramas, and how is it unique?

I personally she's the best written female character on the show, because TE is just downright just a lapdog of…
In this drama it's not merely a portion, it's a really big portion, so big that it essentially makes korea one of the top economies in their world. In that drama the wealth of the royal family is so big it affects the GDP. They even quantified in in the quintillions. FYI, that is like 2 more decimal place after a trillion. And that is in US dollars not won. It felt so ridiculous and over the top.

That doesn't exist in the real world. The british monarchy, which is one of the most recognized monarchy in the real world, do own lands and assets that have been passed down thru generations.

Also as I said before the way monarchy is portrayed here is so highly inaccurate. Basically the way I see the power structure in this drama is that they are basically following the way monarchy worked in GOT, where the king has absolute power. And he had his council, which include the PM just for advice, but the king has final say on everything, no arguments allowed, just like the medieval times.

In today's current society, the only system that comes close to that is a soft dictatorship.

that drama averaged over 12% in ratings with 17% being the highest rating. I don't count that as poor ratings.

poor ratings are show that don't even hit double digits, when being broadcasted on free tv like kbs, mbc, and sbs.

Then you have your paid cable like ocn, tvn and jtbc where ratings will be lower due to the fact their paid services, so the ratings become relative.

But yeah ratings aren't everything, but their a good starting point.

nope feel the same. More on the prime minister, really loved her character, and I don't feel she is a villain…
I'm personally glad this is on netflix, so i can just skip the parts I don't like. I pretty much skip all of LG and TE parts, then sometimes i skip the royal court lady and LG as well, and the uncle and LG. I find those the most boring parts, and it hasn't affected the plot too much for me.

I'm just more interested in what happens to my fav characters, Eunsoop/yeoung, prime minister, and shinjae. Even Alley girl and rose have their moments.

Even LMH character in boys over flowers, didn't reach this level of arrogance and douchebagness. And regardless of how they don't like the prime minister. She's still a lady in a position of power, the king should show some respect!

i have TWOTM and Hyena on my to watch list actually haha.

will check out the guest, because thats how much I love our PM!

I'm still so bitter every time i see her disrespected on KTEM, but that's life lol.

I'm wary of Mr. Sunshine since i was told the ending would be sad.

I'll check out Big issue tho, thanks for recomendation.

I've always been a sucker for the underdog, anti-hero type of character. I hope the prime minister gets more FL role after this, she just rocked it. Still young just 33 years old.

Goshhh everyyime i see this poor drama rating i just get so damn frustrated because drama is perfect .. compare…
JTBC is the smallest of the paid cable show providers, so the lower ratings are not surprising.

The production value based on what I see are quite good though and expensive, not sure if they will get their money back, as PPL are quite important for these show's revenue. It's weird too since hwang jang eum is quite popular and has many good rom coms. I will watch when the whole season is done.

Maybe people are not so interested in fantasy/scifi anymore in korea.

Hotel de luna is a different beast because first off, it's by the hong sisters, who just like KES has a cult following, so they will watch just simply since it's the hong sisters. Second it's IU, who has a pretty big fan base.

they are not getting their moneys worth considering it's quite low on ratings.

PPL = Product Placement

it's those things you see all over Kdrama like bbq olive chicken, makeup, The alley bubble tea and etc...

I thought it was SJ actually, but LG made more sense, but it was obviously a guy from the beginning. Which made a huge plot hole on why did 7 year old LG fall in love with a guy? maybe that's why he likes tomboy TE?

thats my theory.

I really like how they switch between worlds and times without "warning". Things that have happened are explained…
That's the plan! Get people to need to rewatch each episode 2-3 times minimum, so that they start trending as most watched netflix show in each country.

It's brilliant really!

I don't mind a female centric Kdrama, or one where the FL goes through some redemption arc, or has noticeable flaws that are not fixed in 1 or 2 episodes.

Altho i admit LMH is hot. I have never watched a show based on the visual appeal of the actor or actress.

I normally go by korea viewer ratings, since my taste aligns with the local, sure i've been disappointed a few times, but overall it has been a good ride. I've also watched a few lower ratings ones. that's why im quite disappointed in KES in this respect.
