I feel like the sacrifice though would be poor screenwriting cause that would be an expected "redemption."I'm…
I question his dedication and loyalty.
His father told him "I really need to have this mission succeed" Nowhere did he say, "Son, #1 priority is to get you and your team back to NK alive, cuz that is the most important thing"
Gyeok Chan even states "To die for your country is the highest honor"
It appears to me, ever since his time in Germany, he was already questioning his indoctrination, that's why his portrayal in the first few episode seemed so weak.
Maybe it's intentional, but I never bought for a second he really wanted to get back to the North. Cheong Ya, Gyeok Chan, even that NK spy who died in the boat all sold it much much better than Soo Ho.
Which is why when he's acting hard, I have a hard time buying it, and am not surprised no one has died yet, because he is a faux NK spy. Maybe this is the writer's intention, who knows. Maybe it's part of the whole satire thing the writer is doing.
Now, if the ML was Gyeok Chan instead, and we see his redemption arc, whether via sacrifice, or a change in demeanor, then that would be a better portrayal of a NK going soft and siding with SK.
It's the same problem with CLOY, writers these days don't have the guts to have their virginal heroine fall in love with a rough monster. Beauty and the beast doesn't sell ratings, it has to be perfect visuals, noble qualities, and etc... Ever since Soo Ho was portrayed in Ep. 1 nothing he has done is downright irredeemable. All it takes is some soft looks, and they will kiss.
The way I see it, Soo Ho ever since Ep. 1 was already 90% questioning his training, and he just need that 10% from young ro to complete it. That's why the feeling of the drama isn't a drastic change as I say.
Gyeok Chan's characterization and how it eventually ends up to where Soo Ho is would have been a better character driver than what we are given with Soo Ho.
Are people really getting tired of the hostage storyline ??Like i knew that the story will be 90% around the university…
I didn't watch it, so I was caught off guard.
When you watch one season of 24, you really get the feeling that everything is happening in the span of 24 hours.
But watching Hosu Dorm play out, it honestly feels like weeks if not months have gone by, rather than days. Because instead of using one arc for 9 episodes, the arc shifts and changes so many times within one episode.
It doesn't help that most people who has seen any type of hostage situation in other movies/dramas has a barometer of which to compare Snowdrop to.
If a show like 24 can successfully show a romance in 24 hours, I find it hard to believe that Snowdrop could not have created a window for Young Ro and Soo Ho to interact, even if just through Paper airplanes.
Also, a lot of people were expecting the leads to have a romance by now, and what we are seeing is so shallow and hard to believe, that it's not scratching that romance itch people have.
It's easy to say they students can easily take on the spies because they outnumber them but then 1) there are…
1. Young Ro has seen the trip wires and bombs and knows about them several times. It's weird she never shares this information with anyone. Kang Moo also knows about them, and he is alone with the hostages several times. But he seems to only want to share his secrets with Young Ro.
2. Kang Moo was left with that 3rd NK spy several times alone, and yet he chooses Ep. 9 to show us his foot karate. The spies don't even take turns keeping watch, the third spy even nods off to sleep.
How else do you think Ms. Pi, Young Ro, Boon Ok, and even the Old Man's son keep sneaking elsewhere?
3. Although this is true, people also monkey see monkey do. When they see those people I mentioned above sneak off to God knows where, I am surprised nobody else followed.
It's like those prison movie, if you see someone finding a way out, or sneaking away, you will follow them.
Yes, thank god they took a bath, I was getting embarrassed with how stinky they were getting.
Ms. Pi raised these girls to fear authority. Ms. Pi is but one person, and yet she keeps a dorm of almost 100…
Young Ro is kind of a rebel, and it may be because her brother was arrested, and so she experiences the militaristic rule similar to Ms. Pi. Jeong Min as well is rebelling, and we see both of them do so in the first few episodes.
The reason they all agree to hide a NK spy, is because in a totalitarian regime (Ms. Pi), people tend to stick even closer, and refuse to rat out their fellow conspirers.
Don't get me wrong, the writing is not great, and the plot doesn't make sense at all. And I agree how stupid it is for them not to escape.
Episode 7 and What's up with the Students? They're doing nothing like the 2 hostage taker are on the room and…
Ms. Pi raised these girls to fear authority. Ms. Pi is but one person, and yet she keeps a dorm of almost 100 people afraid of her. So even with 1 or just 3 hostage takers, these girls will not try anything. If these girls had any backbone, they would have stood up to Ms. Pi's inhuman treatment of them years ago.
Most likely these students have had their mental shattered by Ms. Pi, where they are basically women who only know to follow orders.
I haven't watched the latest eps yet bwcausw of schoolworks but this is so funny I had to share it here. https://twitter.com/soyaalov/status/1480271714495782912?t=GXuwSqbVe46KyCFZ-Om0iw&s=19I…
I just discovered Kim Hye Yoon, you can bet I am going to follow her career.
It all began even before Cheong Ya came.
You catch more flies with honey they say.
Cheong Ya's loyalty is to NK and not her fellow NK's.
That's the difference.
One allows his personal and emotional connection to dictate his decisions.
The other, simply follows orders, and does what's best for her country.
Soo Ho was the wrong person for the job, as he is soft. Lim Ji Rok allowed his personal bias for his "son", jeopardize the mission.
His father told him "I really need to have this mission succeed" Nowhere did he say, "Son, #1 priority is to get you and your team back to NK alive, cuz that is the most important thing"
Gyeok Chan even states "To die for your country is the highest honor"

Never been a fan of rough intimacy. I am sure some people enjoy it, but not me.
Kind of red flags if this was a real relationship.
Smooth operator Soo Ho is not.
Maybe Soo Ho's love language is ROUGH physical touch?

I got nothing. Nevermind.
The reason they all agree to hide a NK spy, is because in a totalitarian regime (Ms. Pi), people tend to stick even closer, and refuse to rat out their fellow conspirers.

I am just playing devil's advocate here.
