Thank you for appreciating! :)Very true about the red herrings. As I watched more of the show, I realized that…
Absolutely, the finale, where everything magically fixes itself just because Orad knows the truth, and has fully to come to accept his existence... is just too fairy-tale imo... too neatly tied up with a ribbon/ bow. Other than that, the entire premise of the show was excellent, the legends tied in beautifully and the reveals were mind-blowing! Even to this day, thinking that Kakarayan and Lemed are the only ones that exist, and remaining everything is just an illusion/ product of Lemed's dream-creations...... :O :O
I binge watched this whole show, because it was so addicting! I realized during the span, the legends are sometimes told to us out of order, so it doesn't spoil the surprises & twists in the subsequent episode. A few times, the legends are red-herrings (you think it's talking about character A but it turns out the story is about character B!).... The environment-aspect of the nature-worshipper's legends was fascinating, though eventually when the stories got more specific, personal & particular, they made us realize just how scary & selfish humans can be and that would send shivers down my spine, every single time! :O Congrats on a well-written article! Would love to hear your thoughts on the ending! :D
Ahh, Cho Na! I had been waiting for this article's release ever since you told me it was in the works! Kudos, you captured everything, and so succinctly! ^^ Between Qian Wei and Shin Ha-Ri.... I'm having a blast watching these crazy, quirky and thoroughly unapologetic girls! 100% laughter & 0% cringe.... completely magical! :P A warning for future viewers: you need to get over the ML's hedgehog-hair in the first episode, and it's a smooth sail after that! xD Once it hits the 2011-timeline, there is nothing but pure, unadulterated joy and fun! Even more so, if you attended college between 2009 to 2016!! The Sony Xperia phones, the facebook statuses, the era of websites (instead of apps)... what a blast to the past! :')
I'd also like to give a shoutout to the writers who decided to tell the story w/o making some characters outright villains! I dislike the ex in particular, but even he has such a genuinely grounding backstory that I cannot hate him! Lu Xun is one of those rare breeds of MLs in a time where their entire character-arc is all about loudly proclaiming their undying love for the FL... but not him! His silent and anonymous ways to look out for Qian Wei without burdening her with his feelings makes him a character that would make any actor playing him, appear swoon-worthy by extension!! Even the bond they share out of workplace is so wholesome, where they can casually share a drink and be each other's life counsels! :')
Lastly, second chances and do-overs is already such a poignant theme, but the team is doing a far superior job than expected, eh?
This is what happens when you forget Koreans add a year to their age on January 1st. Silly me. I wasn't prepared for the kiss. I wasn't prepared for Hee-Do 'turning 20/ adult' on NYE 2000. Dang it!! <3
I may have missed it but what was Heedo and her mom in the hospital for?
Yearly physical exam... you get a full-body checkup annually. They got their last procedure done, which is a colonoscopy (in the scene where they both are on stretchers in purple hospital gowns!) ^^
Bout to watch MnJ. Just realized both have amazing OSTs.... Utada Hikaru's First Love vs Uru's プロローグ Cannot believe this point wasn't mentioned here! xD
Here’s a more positive theory.https://twitter.com/97llinct/status/1503719556057284610?s=21Jaurim songwriter…
Oh wow, turns out her 'ex-boyfriend' who died at 27 wasn't the inspiration of the song? xD She also talks about her husband 'who was a good apple' and how they were best-friends. He also coincidentally has the last name Kim AND was a tv presenter (& is currently a dentist). WTH. This husband-dude sounds a LOT like Yi-Jin -_- Instead of the dead boyfriend :/ This is what happens when I listen to online theories about interpreting poetry/ song lyrics. Instead of weird theories, if the poet says the curtains are blue, then the curtains are blue (and not about his failing mental state). Geez. It's high school Literature all over again. I'mma peace out and do some fact checking for myself now! Thanks for the heads up! <3
One of the Korean webpage comments, except I used auto-translate so I could have been wrong! T_T Still, I'm setting up prayer circles for that 1% possibility! ^^
If the upper god was actually the male lead but he was "sleeping", then whom did the female lead meet at the beach…
He's very much asleep. He just has these astral projections/ avatars via which he communicates with people (when called upon) or whenever Fali/ Lemed goes berserk I guess? The 'beach' moment doesn't actually take place on the beach. It's within Tien-ti's heart while she's sleeping. This is how Toem follows through in the next scene!
If the upper god was actually the male lead but he was "sleeping", then whom did the female lead meet at the beach…
The upper God (Kakarayan) was actually the ML, and in ways, wasn't the ML. Yes, his true face appears to be the actor who plays Orad (ML) too. Orad is Kakarayan's reflection/ shadow. A manifestation of his will & hope to live, and be with Tien-Ti. Kakarayan, thus, was 'asleep' while Orad went around doing his 'Godly duties'. The FL sees (& we see) the true face of Kakarayan twice actually. Once when she's 'dying' on the streets and is about to step into Pinokayan through the doorway built by Lemed/ Fali. She gets stopped by Orad, but Fali follows, who gets interrogated & scolded by what we assume is Orad (but was Kakarayan, or rather Fali's imagination of Kakarayan). Secondly, right before the beach scene, the FL wishes upon Kakarayan (the Upper God) before she falls asleep in the cafeteria, and wakes up to see Orad. Except it's not Orad, it's Kakarayan (but she gets weirded out seeing 'God' use Orad's face, hence he switches to using actor Greg Hsu's face instead, because he is her favorite actor). Jokes on her, because Orad's face is ACTUALLY Kakarayan's face too! xD In short, Kakarayan blesses her on the beach to heal people, but is using a different face, because I guess he can shape-shift being all powerful and all? :)
This drama looks cute because of Song Zu Er, but i won't watch it until all finish airing.. because it's just…
They air 6 eps weekly, with great subs on youtube for free.... So if you have other 4-5 shows that you're currently watching to keep you occupied, you could try live-watching this one! Honestly, the wait isn't too bad! :'D
I just want to say that I'm more than sad that her fake persona's name is not Kim Shin. Gawd that would have been…
If by 'THAT' music, you mean the Goblin theme song.... then I'm damn sure it would have been EPIC!!! xD xD Although, BP isn't a tvn drama, so perhaps a copyright infringement? :O Ah, can you imagine Harabeoji watching Goblin and making funny commentary on the side? xD xD Infinite comedy potential, as you say! <3

Cannot believe this point wasn't mentioned here! xD
Trope subversion: 8/10
Parody factor: 9.5/10
Unadulterated fun and Overall Joy: 1000/10
Final MDL rating: 8.9/10 (pretty justified)
[shhhh, that's exactly how arithmetic mean works!] :P ;P
