Thank you! I was struggling with why it felt so rushed. It's disappointing because this version is so incredibly…
Yes.... YES to everything! <3 I'd like to add another change they made. In HYD, Rui buys his ticket before Tsukushi makes her 'be a man enough to chase after your dreams and follow Shizuka' speech. Here, it's her words of retaliation and realization that convince him. More power to Gorya. Also, it's like mini-closure for her to finally move on, by pushing Ren to Mira, and Ren actually following through on HER words, and not on his own. :')
There are repeated mischief-makers, nobody gets shot, people get tied-up instead, and somehow end up breaking out of their rope-ties. Is this a joke? -_-
Did they REALLY ask for cup-noodles? Like seriouslyyy? Will we have a 'ramyeon meokgo gallae' scene soon? 🤣 The comedy is giving me a serious whiplash.
So far l really like this series, but yeah i do think this one have some holes :1. i think the way F4 bullied…
2. I agree. She's really calm & collected around Ren. You don't see her teenage crush because she doesn't get flustered enough like a typical teenager would. And I think that played a HUGE part in the development of the story (& the FL's character). The growth from the 'star-eyed' puppy-love with Ren, to something more meaningful with Thyme.
3. Yeah, friendship kinda feels rushed. Too chummy at this point of time. But I think her power is highlighted even more here. In HYD, the SL decides on his own to follow Shizuka to France. He already has bought his tickets BEFORE she gets to make her 'You aren't man enough if you aren't chasing after her, and thinking nothing can be done' speech. Here, it's her words that convinces him to go ahead. Not only does it put greater emphasis on how she's influenced Mira, as well as Ren to be the bigger guy... but also drives the final nail onto the coffin of her 'first love' for Ren, by pushing him herself to Mira, and their future together. That confrontation with the SML, where usually the FL gets hurt and leaves... but here she fights back for her point. It also doubles as her first step towards closure, and finally moving on from him.

F4 thailand has a more superior narrative structure. The interview where Thyme indirectly concludes Gorya is special to him by waiting in the rain & contradicting all of his 'usual' behavior makes for a technically 'quality' story-telling. It's serves the purpose of logic, like a 'eureka' moment; however it lacks the emotional punch. Here's why:
1. Thyme's interview is only for the viewer's eyes, and not for Gorya's. Homegirl doesn't even see the full interview before Kanning pulls her away. It's done for US to realize that yes, Gorya has indeed become special to Thyme. Hence, the interview is not the big convincer that she should go find him. There IS no big convincer actually. 2. Since Gorya doesn't see the interview fully, the voice-over that plays in the background is again for the benefit of the viewers. Like an extra insight. Compare this to Makino. Where SHE is the one re-collecting moments of Tsukasa, from a simple doll from a vending machine. It's more emotional, because something completely unrelated reminds her of him (the 'Tiger Man' who hides a soft persona behind his tough-guy mask).... 3. It proves that humans (we, viewers) are more impacted by visual sensory inputs than audio. Eyes over ears. Thyme's voice-over has lesser emotional impact on us than Tsukushi recalling all those moments of Tsukasa being a decent human and a good friend via flashbacks. 4. They completely got rid of Gorya's inner monologue. 5. Thyme is seen alone in the rain. I kind of liked the j-version where Tsukasa is surrounded by strangers, but you can see in comparison, just HOW small, sorry,, lonely and PITIFUL he looks in next to others.
So yeah, I hope I got all the points, hehe! A frame by frame analysis! <3 I still think a flashback of Thyme would have been more superior, instead of the interview. We, as viewers, like to be 'shown', not 'TOLD'. :D
right , although there is something similar, but there is a difference... + I also think there is a change in…
Ohhhhh! I'm glad you clarified. Yes, that scandal was as core to developing their relationship, as much as the post-rain scene, where they're stuck the whole night....
The reason why f4 thailand's pacing feels odd, is because we are not shown just how much the leads have started invading each other's mental space by this point of time. There is a significant lack of flashbacks as compared to HYD, therefore, despite completing the same milestones each episode, we do not have an equivalent emotional build-up between the MCs, that feel convincing enough for the milestones to happen.
The ONLY thing that could have made the airport scene better, was Thyme asking Gorya 'Let's date'.. and his line getting drowned by Ren's plane taking off! Lmao, CLASSIC scene from MG 2018! xD He's so dumb, kkkkkk! XD
Excuse me, but those asking if Ren comes back...? Trust me on this, you DON'T want him to come back. Unless you want to see a fuck-boy who tries to be a class-A jackass. Intentionally. Because of a 'broken heart'. 🙄
My personal thoughts about the episode-I LOVED how in the beginning of the episode they did the thing with Gorya’s…
"The last scene isn’t as effective on me as the Japanese one, but it is still amazing and I can’t wait for the next episode." On the contrary for me. I think the only thing that was lacking for me in the Thai version, was the build-up. I wish it was more drawn-out, more angsty, for the impact to be as big as the j-version. However, the execution was simply *chef's kiss* perfect... The ML soaking in the rain, the lines of his interview repeating over in Gorya's head... indirectly proving just how special she is to him... OOF! I think the ending scenes are always crafted with perfection, and so much thought. Never fail to knock the wind out of my lungs.... <3
I think all FOUR members of f4 broke character in that OTT airport scene! You can see they want to laugh out loud, sooo bad! xD xD Poor Tu, she's the only one who could manage to keep her laugh in!
