I mean… ppl can like and dislike what they want but calling ppl vanilla and snowflake cuz they can’t handle…
LOL why was anyone surprised?? Didn't it come from a fanfic inspired by Twilight? (which imo, is also terrible beeteedubs). I never watched 50 shades, but it came from the exact types of winging it fangirl fanfics I'm talking about here xD it's no surprise the BDSM community found it laughable.
i hate how they just stopped focusing on tang after like ep 3 and i don’t quite understand the ending
The end: He found out he had no criminal record when they picked him for being an illegal in another country, realizing he'd been cleared of all charges ,he went back to Korea and picked up right where he left off, following his 'super power' and offing bad people.
can somebody help me understand the ending bc like wth happened 😭😭

Not bad, a bit all over the place tbh, loses focus here and there and their attempt at the 'non linear' storytelling wasn't very well executed. And at first it felt like they were trying to give Lee Tang a 'Drive' MC edge but that fell off into something disjointed somewhere along the way. Maybe too few episodes to be properly fleshed out? And yet, more episodes might have dragged it out? Weird. But over all, it's worth a one time watch. The acting was a highlight, good cast.

That's what irks me too, the fact that MOST of them write this stuff but it's not a fantasy they have for themselves, and they don't really understand it or how it would work as real a kink/fetish that would need to be discussed and negotiated between partners, they just write it like it's normal. I have no interest in BDSM personally, but I understand the dynamics and logistics of BDSM and I know about it. For writers, research is a must, especially if they have no firsthand experience with something.
As for seme/uke and all the variations that refer to tops and bottoms in fiction, I don't get into that with people, it doesn't really bother me. We all have preferences (whether as gay men who like it a certain way or women who like to choose what visually appeals to them most) So whether people like to like too see an exclusive top, exclusive bottom or whether they're into the character/s being open to switching or being versatile, it is what it is.
I do get what you mean by not just excepting problematic fangirl ideas as a gay norm. Honestly, we even have chatgpt now for people who are too lazy to use Google, it takes just a few minutes to read up on something so it can be depicted well or to be better personally understood.

Yeah Painter of the Night is another adaptation I'll probably give a skip for that reason (unless they leave the rapey thing out of the adap), same reason I didn't like Addicted, same reason I was put of SVSSS. When rape or rapey themes are involved in the main pairing, I immediately lose interest.
As for the rape fantasy thing, I don't judge people's sexual kinks, however, like all sex kink fantasies, they need to be discussed between/amongst the involved parties clearly. CC in the RL novel was a very poor BDSM user, I think the series tried to paint him in a better light in terms of the BDSM thing, but many viewers would have preferred more clarity on the whole rough sex thing and whether CC and SW ever discussed safewords and limits, etc. I chose to assume they did in the time skips, but it did leave a lot up in the air for the 'at face value' viewers.

Yep, about a year ago I saw a notice going around that Killing/Stalking was being made into a BL and I was "NooooOOOOOoooowtf", like how does anyone read THAT and think 'aaaaw, they love each other' LOL that's some wild thinking. So the fact that many female fans think the aftermath of sex being painful is 'hot' is not that surprising.
I mean… ppl can like and dislike what they want but calling ppl vanilla and snowflake cuz they can’t handle…
Agree on the 'pain the next day' thing and that thinking it's hot being a dumb af take. Female BL writers, and many female fanfiction writers as well, especially older ones, wrote/write without even attempting to do research, they're often just writing their messy unchecked fantasies. Why being in pain after sex seems 'sexy' or 'hot' is baffling to me.
But when you think of the fact that lots of women thought Killing/Stalking was a BL love story, it really puts the general frame of mind of fangirlies into perspective.
Best non-official ship in a BL ever, especially since they HAVE a history in canon. A BL of them would defy the…
It's not a delusional thing at all, CJD wrote their relationship that way intentionally for sure, and left hints in the series too on purpose. As for the novel, it's very bad writing but if you just focus on the brief CC/CY bits and references you'll get your ship fix 🫠
The drama was not meant to be unpredicatable and the lead and his friends had their toxic side before they met…
I see, do you mean like a 'viewer discretion is advised' notice at the beginning of each episode? Hm, I think that may be a premature complaint unfortunately. Chinese media producers have never had to use such a thing, let alone had to cater to the ever changing level of 'offense' taken by westerners. So I think considering this is the first BL of its kind, and the first airing of it specifically internationally, they were more concerned with seeing if it would be worth it for them financially and also what might come for them out of China 😂 (a valid concern if you saw the shit that hit the fan with Chinese fans even though this show was not legally airing in the Mainland)
But I agree, that would be a good thing for them to add. Maybe they will have realised it's necessary by the time they put out a box DVD set (if they ever do 🤞) or if they ever air this on other international platforms.
Original article doesn't mention this, seems like a fan panic spreading/engagement farming post.
Yeah, this is just fodder for the fandom anger mongers. I'm not saying it's impossible that China would try to pull some shit like this, but I don't think this rumor is true.

From what I found, this is the actual article: https://t.co/thGXdnFSAW these kinds of posts need to provide links, not screenshots, I always find them dodge.

Just a tip for you (and any other MDL users), when you see the tags on a drama, note that the ones visible there may not be ALL the tags added. If you want to see all the tags (and possibly get more insight into what to expect in a show) you can click on '(Vote Tags)' which appears after the visible tags. When doing this you will see ALL the tags added by viewers for a drama, including ones not shown on the main page that include spoilers. The same for Revenged Love, there are many more detailed tags but they don't show on the main page because they're technically spoilers.
The fact that all these hidden tags are not more clearly labeled as a drop down of 'more tags' or 'hidden tags' on the main page is a fault of MDL.
