Ya'll know they cut scenes, and I know they cut scenes and we all know they cut scenes (and held back other content) to spite those bitch ass Chinese 'fans' who caused such a fucking headache almost since day one of this show😂 the same ones who are gonna be climbing the walls and throwing their toys out of their cots on Twitter and IG like the mental losers they are, over this final ep not being what they demand (batshit, they're all batshit crazy). Those 'fans' are a special brand of unhinged a-holes and they did effectively cut off their noses to spite their faces because the more trouble they caused, the more CDJ and crew wanted to spite them.
We, the inter-fans, got dragged into it unfortunately.
That said, I still have my hope that they do a hardcopy release of this show (not a digital one, if they want to limit access of the Chinese psycho 'fans' to the footage) a few weeks or even months from now, which can be purchased by us international fans with no cuts, and all the bts and all that extra shit we were denied due to the mental illness of others.
But no matter what, they still gave us a really good show, so I ain't complaining!
Something something, brother? Calm down...[Pat... Pat... Pat on the shoulder]
Lol nothing to be bothered about, you can scroll down and read it, you can still see it obvs. Just someone blocked me after they replied so I couldn't respond, the cheap way to 'have the last word' and a typical chicken shit move 😂
So, it's actually acted and filmed (in terms of scenes and cinematography) better (imo) than the Thai version. First time I've seen a Japanese BL with actors who are actually willing to act properly in the intimate scenes too, they're basically always terrible at it. Also, I am far more interested in the GL couple here than I was in the Thai one, so that's another improvement. The problem is, it's still the same badly written story from MAME and so I will probably drop it just like I did the Thai version.. But, let's see.
I guess I'm not familiar enough with how the Chinese legal system works when it comes to tax evasion, so I find…
Yeah, but China's legal system does have a bail system, that said. it's most definitely not as lenient as the west.
Also, 'bail' is not just paying money to get released, even in the USA, it comes with certain requirements from the judge and legal limitations and conditions and the court can absolutely deny bail, no matter how much money the accused can pay.
Rare to find someone who also didn't like that rapey trash Addicted! We're a minority for sure. For this work,…
Yeah, there are quite a few older stories with rapey themes, CJD was one of the more popular ones because she also wrote bad fanfiction kink all over the place. Rapey themes is the reason I won't read a couple of the 'big' ones, if I don't like it, I don't bother with it basically.
But yeah, authors can grow, and admitting some growth is important. I dunno if CJD will write anything new, but if she did it'd be an actual reflection on whether she's grown personally depending on the content she comes up with, or we'd see if the scriptwriter and director just influenced the changes in this series.
"You can sell Toxic but there's a limit you shouldn't cross otherwise it becomes difficult to really root for the couple no matter how sweet they become down the line." ~~ yep, it's a fine line. This show does have a toxic side, that's why I see it a dark romantic comedy, and since I prefer my fictional characters colourfully fucked up, it works for me lol
Both those BLs I mentioned are pretty good, I preferred The Sparkle in your Eye personally, but both were nice to watch ✌️😁

You raise a fair point, China's legal system does acknowledge individual rights, but they do everything, at their core, to maintain social appearances due to their government. So very likely, since CC is a well known person, it's believable the government would detain him up to the trial to make an example of him, just in case he turns out to be guilty. XS did mention he'd heard (probably from CY) that they'd made headway in clearing CC's name by gathering evidence, so perhaps it's just the western due process of 'bail' that wasn't allowed, hence him still being detained.
why does that dr. have kitchen knife instead of scalpel in his med box😭😭
I didn't find it strange. That clinic has a kitchen for one, so there are kitchen knives on the premises, and aside from the fact that knives can be used around a clinic/ER room to cut open packaging and stuff, it's also possible XS had fetched the knife and put it in there on purpose before coming to treat Lin's wounds because he expected they'd be 'intimidating' Lin.
About clearing Chi Cheng's name legally, honestly, if the lawyer Chengyu hired is worth any salt at all, based on Chi Cheng's wealth, his lack of criminal history, positive character testimonies that can be brought forward, the log in data of the employee who altered the files, camera footage from the work place of CC signing those files, AND the probable cause/motive for WZL to come after CC with a premeditated revenge agenda (because CC obvs dodged those charges since WZL was drinking and he'd apparently been driving on the wrong side of the road), he should have been released on bail easily already. Then on top of that, if the judge allowed a subpoena while waiting to go to trial, there would be the digital trail of the money transaction of WZL paying Lin and all their text records proving WZL framed CC. I mean, good lawyers can get clients off charges with MUCH less, this shouldn't be that difficult.
But we have to see how CJD decided it should play out I guess.
Well I gave this show 12 episodes but I really can't get into it.I'm not a fan of Wu Suo Wei and Chi Cheng's dynamic…

For this work, CJD admitted to her original webnovel being terrible and she urged viewers not to read it, the live adaptation is MILES better than the novel, they really toned down in so many good ways and changed it for the better in other ways, but still, when it comes right down to it, it won't be to everyone's taste and that's understandable. For me, this show is a W and I've loved every episode of their wildin' shenaniganry lol
In case you didn't already know about it, another good Chinese proper BL released not long before this was The Sparkle in my Eye and before that there was Secrets Happened On Litchi Island. You might enjoy those.
MDL user Dramaticdramas replied to my comment and then blocked me to avoid further response🤣 that's the cheapest weak ass way to avoid a discussion on MDL. Congrats, you proved you're a 🤡
