I think a lot of people were looking for 'BL' vibes in that scene, but I didn't see any from WW's side. Obviously (whether having read the novel or not) by that point everyone is aware that LWJ has major feels for WW, and he's realizing during that scene that he should have acknowledged his feelings way sooner when he's about to lose it all off the side of a cliff (or inside a cave).

But I didn't get that vibe from WW in that scene, I think he was pleasantly surprised that LWJ came to his rescue, but he doesn't look particularly moved to me, and he quite calmly and sadly asked LWJ to let him go. As for the cliff possibly breaking as you mentioned in the other answer, seeing as how Jiang Cheng didn't actually put any real intent to the blow, I doubt there was a risk of the rock breaking off. The entire action was staged for WW to kill himself imo, and WW realized that and took the hint.

Basically, I didn't see LWJ as being in any kind of danger in that scene, and I don't think WW's seemed to see any danger to him either. But again, this is largely just personal perspective of the viewer.

How did I miss this on my first, second and even the third watch? That WWX only forcefully pulled out his hand…
Ngl, I've watched this scene many times, and I even rewatched it now to see if I missed it, but I didn't see this. To me it looks like WW thought Jiang Cheng was going to kill him, but then when Jiang Cheng stabbed the rock (looked pretty deliberate to me), WW realized Jiang Cheng wasn't going to kill him but was expecting him to take the out and kill himself (as he'd intended to do before LWJ caught him). WW's whole thing was being self sacrificing for his siblings and he blamed himself for YanLi's death, so when Jiang Cheng still didn't kill him, I think WW felt relived/happy that Jiang Cheng didn't do it, and was giving him a chance to end all the 'disaster' he'd caused. So he took advantage of LWJ being distracted on top of his injury in that moment, and pulled his hand free.

Over all, I feel like this point in the show was more about WW's loss of family (as it was in the novel) more than it was about LWJ. WW wanted to die because he blamed himself for all that had happened to his clan.

Also, if Jiang Cheng had actually tried to kill WW and had just missed, I'm pretty sure LWJ would have reacted very differently to Jiang Cheng in that moment and afterward, probably would outright hate him instead of just disliking him. The way it happened though, LWJ couldn't really be mad at Jiang Cheng, because he didn't actually try to kill WW. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But that's just my perspective on the scene.

Lol "what is the plot" is a tough question. I'd say the synopsis here is pretty straight forward. It is written…
No problem, if you still feel confused and have any plot related questions as you go on, feel free to ask. I can try to answer in the least spoily way as possible xD

whoever completed this show and read the novel, can someone tell me what “everyday means everyday” means??…
If you don't feel like clicking on the link, basically it means they'd be intimate every single day. Jokingly said by WW, and taken very seriously by LWJ.

Lol "what is the plot" is a tough question. I'd say the synopsis here is pretty straight forward. It is written…
The over all plot is that there is a very bad guy who is responsible for 90% of the bad stuff that happens to the cultivation clans, beginning from the past into the present. The layout is; episode 1 and 2 are present day, episodes 3 to 33 are the past, and the remaining eps are present again.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's 'bromance' develops and suffers over a long period of time, while they first become closer in the past and then start to unravel the mystery of who the mastermind is in the future. The show is nuanced and layered, and yes, the characters and clans can be a bit complicated to remember. I think if you're into a more straightforward show narrative and you don't like slow burn plot development, then CQL is not for you. However, this show is amazing, so...maybe try to stick it out a bit longer? By episode 7 you'll see some plot, relationship and character development more clearly.

Respectful is the keyword here. Shipping real people is disrespectful, especially to the extent some people go. Fans should stick to their on screen characters.

Title The Untamed
I've finally decided to start this show and I just have to say the cinematography is gorgeous butI found the first…
Episode Starts : Wei Wuxian dies (it's a flashback of a significant moment in the past)

16 Years Later (present day) - Wei Wuxian is resurrected by Mo Xuanyu (a character we don't know or see, and who is known to be crazy in the story narrative and is mistreated by his relatives). Mo Xuanyu sacrifices himself so Wei Wuxian will come back to life and carry out revenge on a certain few people for him (we see Wei Wuxian has four cut wounds, each wound represents a person who must be killed), as per the rules of the resurrection ritual.

Episode continues: Wei Wuxian figures out why he's been resurrected, with some exasperation, and then swaggers on through the day, learning more about Mo Xuanyu's family and the current events taking place in their home in his own mischievous way. The Lan Clan Juniors arrive in Mo Manner, and Wei Wuxian tries to avoid them seeing his face since he fears he will be recognized due to his previous affiliation with some choice Lan members in his past, (his personal memory flashbacks show us glimpses of Lan Zhan in particular).

There is evil spiritual unrest in Mo Manner, hence the reason the Lan Clan Juniors are there, to try and dispense of the problem. The episode plays out showing how Wei Wuxian (far more experienced than the Lan Juniors) -and believed by everyone to be the crazy Mo Xuanyu- pretends to be clueless as he surreptitiously helps the Lan Juniors deal with the possessed hand so it doesn't end up killing everyone instead of just some people.

The Lan Juniors eventually decide to do what they are taught to do when in trouble and they launch a Lan flare signal into the sky, expecting that Hanguang Jun (Lan Zhan (Wangji) - a VIP, badass, not to be effed with Lan senior, and the other ML in the series) will show up and sort it out. Wei Wuxian doesn't want this, but he can't stop them, and in the end, he can't solve the problem in time.

So, when Lan Zhan shows up, Wei Wuxian takes off, intent on avoiding him (because his death was surrounded by controversy, angst, political issues and personal drama, and if he's recognized he knows it'll just be more of the same). Lan Zhan then deals with the possessed hand (like a BAMF), which is revealed to be controlled by an evil spiritual tool (the sword), and he then surmises something is suspicious about it's energy, and then he realizes the sword is connected to something that was directly connected to Wei Wuxian years ago, and after the Lan Junior's mention Mo Xuanyu having suddenly vanished, Lan Zhan becomes suspicious about Mo Xuanyu.

Basically, Lan Zhan has a Wei Wuxian radar and it starts picking up a signal immediately.

End of the episode - It's revealed that someone paid an old man (the man who was talking in the beginning of the episode), to tell stories about Wei Wuxian for 3 days, and that's just some really fantastic foreshadowing. We also see the Wei Wuxian only has one unhealed cut wound remaining, meaning one person who was not in the Mo household, is on the revenge list.

Summary - Wei Wuxian had died, and then was resurrected 16 years later, inside of some very suspicious circumstances that will unravel as the story goes on...

Episode 2 will reveal more of the present state of things regarding the cultivation world and Wei Wuxian's lingering status and bad reputation among the people he used to know in the past, and the people who knew of him as a cultivator. If you pay close attention to the narrative and dialogue in episode 2, it's all pretty clearly depicted. And at the end of episode 2, the narrative goes back to the past (further back than 16 years), to where the story actually begins, where everything actually started. There shouldn't really be any confusion after that, I think.

I tried to keep this simple and without spoilers. Hope it helps.

Ep4 now, and while most of the sound effects are still annoying, I can say honestly that this show's overall theme and characterization is nice. I like that they depict more open, straightforward communication between the characters, and point out that sexual harassment-esque scenes are not sexy, as well as make a point of being aware of comfort and consent. And most recently, in Ep4, they highlighted that someone doesn't have to reveal they are gay any more than a het person needs to announce they are straight. Bonus is that it's all done with some humor.

So far so good, gaining momentum.

Yep, some bed head, creased sleeping clothing and far, far less make up goes a long way to setting a better scene xD

I didn't get an infantilizing vibe out of their scenario. To me, PSY is giving off a 'you're a crazy stalker'…
Discussing or debating should never be a fight or argument imo. And sharing perspectives can be fun. I guess we're all just going to have to see how the story pans out and hope it's not a total let down ~(˘▾˘~)

I didn't get an infantilizing vibe out of their scenario. To me, PSY is giving off a 'you're a crazy stalker'…
I'm not of the opinion that PSY doesn't want a relationship, I think that was someone else. I think he's just wary of whether Zhen Xuan is fully aware of what he wants or is doing. It's true that obsession is common, but there are levels, and aspies are more inclined toward it because of their disposition. And since aspies tend to feel lost in social settings (ie.relationships would be worse) and they don't empathize well, a word like 'love' could easily be slapped on to a far more complicated predicament of feelings for Zhen Xuan.

That said, I'm not saying Zhen Xuan can't be feeling what he claims he is, I don't have that impression of people with Asperger's, he could be 12 years long, head over heels for PSY, if the writers decide he fell in love at first sight and never got over it, then it's canon. And that'll probably be the case because I doubt they put all that much thought into how this would realistically play out.

Also, there are other factors that make the circumstances of the two pairings different. For one, ZSY and GSD were children and were in contact after the first time they met, so GSD was basically nursing a huge damn crush on someone he assumed was hetero all that time, while growing up around and in the vicinity of said crush. It's not the same as a kid (who's on the spectrum on top of that) falling for an adult man, who actively runs away from him, and then he spends 12 years of his adult life focused on that one man.

Different story if he'd gone on to have some kind of social life, social interactions, social development, formed non-superficial relationships (intimate or otherwise) and then he'd seen PSY after 12 years and had been like "Dayum, I still want him." But considering his character, it's highly unlikely Zhen Xuan was doing any of that outside of functioning well enough to live and work. Relationships of all kinds are hard for people with Aspergers, they struggle and the people around them often struggle too.

Anyway, this show is hardly serious enough to worry about the layers of Asperger's afflicted people being depicted in great or accurate detail. I mean, the guy's been acting like L...what even was that? Over all, I just disagree that there is any double standard here, and I also don't think depicting PSY and Zhen Xuan getting together in some 'happy ending' is a good representation of the real issues people with psychological disorders and autism face. BUT, again, this show is not nearly serious enough to be trying to pick it apart. As for GSD and ZSY, their relationship is being depicted poorly as well, it went from something serious, to very shallow in the span of one episode, so now I'll just watch this to the end because I'm already here, and it's entertaining enough and I like PSY. ✌

Ps. sorry this was long.

I don't know what the writer was intending with this episode and Shou Yi and Zhen Xuan, but it did not work for…
I didn't get an infantilizing vibe out of their scenario. To me, PSY is giving off a 'you're a crazy stalker' vibe. I do think he's just being intentionally harsh about it, exaggerating it on purpose because he thinks Zhen Xuan's attachment is unhealthy due to his Asperger's. People with Asperger's can become unhealthily attached to something or someone, obsessively in some cases. And 12 years is a very long time, especially when he had no contact with PSY at all. I don't necessarily think it's about Zhen Xuan's age.

Also, the show revealed early on in season 1 that PSY has affective disorder, so he's not exactly going to be a tactful guy at the best of times. He's reacting to Zhen Xuan according to his own behavioral patterns. Honestly, they're both kind of a mess and a relationship between them would be a disaster of misunderstandings and hurting one another's feelings.
On We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd Mar 27, 2021
I laughed at how perfectly groomed and pretty GSD and ZSY were in the scene where they just woke up, that always gets an amused eye roll out of me in any TV show. At this point I doubt viewers really prefer that perfectly make-up done appearance for scenes where characters aren't supposed to be looking made up, or is it just me?

And I really like Pei Shou Yi as a character more and more with each episode. I think the angle they're going for is that Zhen Xuan likes Pei Shou Yi, but due to Zhen Xuan's disposition, Shou Yi doesn't want to get involved with him because he's not sure if it'd be like taking advantage of Zhen Xuan, since people with autism can sometimes be considered to have trouble with autonomous and clear decision making. It's an interesting plotline, of course, I don't see it being properly explored. As many have pointed out, there are really too few episodes.

Pity too, because before the scene in ep4 where Zhen Xuan came to the restaurant with the food package, I didn't like him. The whole 'L' routine was annoying me, then in the scene in ep4 he finally dropped the impression and he genuinely came across as lost and very confused, having trouble understanding PSY's words and queues and also having trouble expressing himself or responding well, not knowing what he'd done wrong or how he should proceed, which is truer to Asperger's than acting L.

I've said it before, but I would enjoy a side show about PSY, especially if they give the story of him and Zhen Xuan some proper plot and development. As for the main pairing, at this point I feel like their story has become too shallow, too quickly, like the writers are racing to the happy ending finishing line. There seems to be no seriousness to their plot, which I find lacking considering the circumstances surrounding their separation.

But I guess one can't really expect too much in such a short amount of episodes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The show is good and actually the tone becomes more serious as you get to the half-way point. The sound effects…
It's a bit ironic, the show is boasting a story line of experience in producing dramas, and yet filling every scene with unnecessary music is rookie level editing. With scene music they're supposed to pick their moments really carefully.
Replying to strawberryjams Mar 25, 2021
The sfx are part of the meta narrative, they gradually tone down as the show goes on
That's good to know. I probably wouldn't make it much farther if they kept it up.
On Lovely Writer Mar 25, 2021
Just watched the first ep of this. The show needs 98% less sound effects and 80% less random scene music, and then the scenes might actually start to reflect a proper tone for this show. I feel like I'm watching a slapstick skit, all that's missing is the laughing track. It was hard to sit through this, but I can see that behind all the extra noise there is a show, so I'm going to try episode two.
