Why is this show so addictive? πŸ₯²
First time Cn BL? They do have a big difference to other BLs tbh.
That feeling of; why is the build up and moments of Chi Cheng/Suo Wei and (at the moment to a lesser extent) Chengyu and Xiao Shuai hitting you so hard, much harder than other BLs. The reason for this is because of something that at least 95% of BLs do not include in their works, and that is the proper development of emotional but also physical/sexual attraction.

Most BLs skirt around physical attraction, the directors don't seem to know how to make two men appear/act physically/sexually attracted to each other apparently, maybe they don't understand it or something. So they do what they can with emotional attraction (although it's usually something like 'oh you're a good person' because they saw them doing a good deed or 'you helped me once when I was 10 years old and I've been in love with you ever since' or some such asinine nonsense) but beyond the slow mo 'seeing one another for the first time' scene, or the 'fall and catch' scenes or the going out shopping/eating/fluffy cutesy montage scene, etc, they generally either cash in as much as they can on kissing scenes or they go straight to the sex scenes to distract the viewers.

They don't depict the two characters actually growing to like EACH OTHER, growing closer, growing more comfortable, noticing what/how they like each others personalities/appearance/bodies. The art of attraction/physicality in the form of small touches, hand placement, body closeness, eye contact, a well timed look or smile, and even proper open physical relationship based dialogue, etc, is lost in most BLs, they don't even realize the value of these things and they waste so many opportunities in some cases of good shows.

Chinese censored BLs generally relied on those things to build the romantic relationship behind censorship, and it worked very well, so now, in a proper Chinese BL, where those small but important details of physical/sexual attraction are depicted along with the actual full relationship scope, it really catches you right.in.the.FEELS.

TL;DR: Basically, in most BLs they glaze over the nuance of being gay, of gay sexuality, of the characters being sexually attracted to each other. But Revenged Love is doing no such thing.

No, the romantic relationship is contextually implied. This is a censored BL.
Ah great, and are you satisfied with the ending as it was?

As for recc's, Under The Skin is a good show for sure, but it's 100% bromance, it's not censored BL, it's also only very vaguely supernatural in the sense where the one ML kind of sees his way through crimes with a farfetched skill, otherwise it's nothing like the TS. In the same vein as Under the Skin, there is Justice in the Dark https://kisskh.at/50145-the-light-in-the-night which IS like TS in that it's a censored BL, but it's very censored. It's still a good story though, crime and some psychological horror elements.

And then another great supernatural horror show with bromance I would 100% recc is Oh No! Here Come's Trouble, it's one of my all time faves. https://kisskh.at/730629-bu-liang-zhi-nian-qing-chu-shi
The only other bromances with supernatural/horror elements that I can think of is The Guest https://kisskh.at/28686-hand and the bromance in there is very slight but the show is still good. Also Ultimate Note https://kisskh.at/51397-final-chronicles adventure with some horror and supernatural elements, I dropped this one, but I'm told the bromance is great, it's not censored BL though, actual bromance.

Maybe someone else will see your question about reccs and have more suggestions XD

Lol 🀣Me on the other hand, thinks Chi is πŸ’― gay and claims he's bi to find a loophole around his dad's "laws"…
LOL that's a good one too, he even says Yueyue would be good to get his father off his back. She was basically like a beard πŸ˜‚ either way, he gay. lol

Probably CC just did not vibe with YY as a woman and he was already falling for WSW during that time, so nothing…
It was supposed to be funny, y so serious πŸ˜‚

You okay with spoilers? Because hell no, he is NOT human, he is so much more than a human. lol I'm happy to tell you all the differences in the uncensored book no problem, but maybe finish the show first then it won't spoil anything for you? But it's up to you if you don't mind spoilers I can just tell you anyway.

Rando RL thought of the day:
In the series, they've made it pretty obvious that CC is supposed to be bi, while Chengyu is gay. But after seeing how CC treated Yueyue (indifferent even when she was half ass nekid and ready to get it) and considering what TXN said in the bts about his first impression of CC being 'hurt by love and then deciding to swing both both ways', it seems sus. I'm wondering if CC's angry reasoning was something like; after CY slept with WS, which messed CC up emotionally, CC then decided he would sleep with every and any guy CY dated or hooked up with as revenge, but he 'decided' to 'swing both ways' because then Chengyu wouldn't be able to get him back by going after his partners in return? lol πŸ˜‚ Like, he sexual orientation checkmated CY with that move πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I'm at episode 24 of 38 and I'm still wondering how they can choose which door challenge to do? they obviously…
For non-game players, it may not be familiar, but because of the game theme of the show, the doors are based on something similar to RPG 'outcome' game theory. This is a basic explanation from wiki:
[In game theory, the outcome of a game is the ultimate result of a strategic interaction with one or more people, dependent on the choices made by all participants in a certain exchange. It represents the final payoff resulting from a set of actions that individuals can take within the context of the game. Outcomes are pivotal in determining the payoffs and expected utility for parties involved.

Each player’s strategy is based on their expectation of what the other players are likely to do, often explained in terms of probability. Outcomes are dependent on the combination of strategies chosen by involved players and can be represented in a number of ways; one common way is a payoff matrix showing the individual payoffs for each players with a combination of strategies.]

So basically, the actions of every person playing can change the events in the doors. Every time Lanzhu goes into a door, things may be different or more difficult because of the game's 4 levels of difficulty and also what other players do or don't do.

There's more to it, which also makes the doors (as a video game make sense), but for non game-players, it might be confusing or uninteresting. Hope this helps✌️

This is such a keen observation!,I never would've noticed this in the novel too lol
So I'm not just seeing things LOL Gangzi gave a big part of the the game away in ep 1 and we didn't notice because so much stuff was happening XD

HAHA! Yes, there are BLs I have watched purely for entertainment too, no judgement, nothing wrong with it.

Author said 'don't read it' just after the show started airing. The show is, according to her, an updated/upgraded…
They're not the first, the Together with Me novel was a trash heap LOL but the BL show was good, they basically changed 95% of the bad story but kept the popular characters and made a whole new show. Sometimes script writers know what they're doing! πŸ˜‚

As for the author, she's just being honest about her writing as she's matured and she looks back on it, I respect that she can do that. And she's right too, the show is leagues better than the novel lol. Good for her, no?

I doubt you'll regret watching this one, all 4 MLs were fairly-to-completely unknown but they ALL brought their a-game to a sort of dark romantic comedy. Enjoy!

Hm, it's a mixed ending and it depends on your pov too, because there are different ideas of what the ending means and what actually happened. If you want a more in-depth answer it may contain spoilers, let me know.

AH! Well, firstly, welcome! And if you didn't know, now you know. DO NOT TAKE MDL RATINGS SERIOUSLY. Majority of dramas here are rated according to fandom size/haterage/craziness.

On MDL, you're better off taking in the rating with a healthy dose of skepticism, then carefully and objectively skimming comments and non-spoiler reviews before deciding to watch a show while keeping your expectations in check (especially if the rating is high and the show has popular actors). If, in the comments, you see most people talking about how much they love the actors and nothing much else, that's the first sign you may be disappointed with the show.
After all that, throw in a pinch of your gut instinct and press play, or don't.

But don't expect to look at ratings here and hit the ground running, most of the time you'll stumble into a dumpster fire or pot hole πŸ˜‚

Ya'll I don't remember if this ever came up in the novel because I skimmed it and it's a vague memory, I also don't know if anyone's brought this up here before, but in the series I lowkey think Chengyu and Gangzi were WAITING and HOPING for Yellow Dragon to die. I watched ep 1 again (the snake fight scene) and then considered ep 9 (after the fight) again and looking at those scenes, I don't think Chengyu was bothered about losing the snake fight because of himself (his pride or 'rivalry' with CC), I think he was upset Yellow Dragon survived, and Gangzi too was not celebrating in ep 1 when Yellow Dragon won again. I think these dudes have been waiting for (and in Chengyu's case trying to get) Yellow Dragon to die, so Chi Cheng could move the fuck on πŸ˜‚
