The story spans over a decade and follows the complicated relationship between Ding Zhitong (ZT) and Gan Yang (GY).
The story begins on a university campus where ZT, a hardworking girl from a modest background, meets GY, a wealthy and popular "golden boy." While ZT is focused solely on survival and clearing her family's debts, GY is captivated by her tenacity. Despite their "social chasm," GY falls for ZT’s resilience and pursues her relentlessly. They eventually fall in love, finding common ground despite their different upbringings.
As graduation approaches, GY’s family business suddenly collapses, leaving him with astronomical debts. Believing he has no future and wanting to shield ZT from a life of financial struggle, GY makes the heartbreaking decision to break up with her without explaining his true situation. ZT, feeling betrayed and "dumped" without explanation, grows to resent him deeply as she faces her own life hardships alone.
A decade later, ZT has become a successful, high-ranking professional in the investment industry. Her life is orderly but emotionally cold. She crosses paths with GY again, who has spent years working from the bottom to rebuild his reputation and family legacy. ZT is tasked with a project that requires her to work directly with GY. They must navigate their past wounds, lingering hatred, and the undeniable chemistry that never truly went away.
Now the question:
? What did ZT face during their separation time…
? Will they be able to face their past and continue their relationship, or will the past still be the thorn in the flesh that still haunts them…
That's pretty much the story without giving anymore spoilers.
This actually feels much like the story of Lighter & Princess. I must admit I haven’t watched Lighter & Princess, but I sneak peek into it a little bit, and for the first impression it’s kinda on the same vibe…
But overall, quite frankly I am quite bored with all kinds of stupid misunderstanding plot that ML & FL had… But, yeah… In the end this still considered quite good drama in the book
