I haven’t read the Novel so don’t know about his character. But to me it feels like he definitely loves the FL but the 2FL’s family probably helped his family due to which his mother and him consider that they need to marry her.

The 2ML char backstory feels a bit like Jiaxu from Hidden Love. Just that his character is crooked and we have him instead of Jiaxu.
