I’m catching up and got to ep 7. I really find the women characters incredibly annoying. The FL, her best friend and the wife for bearing with a child husband. I liked the ML for taking a stand but he disappointed me when he caved in. Luckily the FL apologized like she should. I don’t think she should accept him so soon but she should have basic manners. Not act all pouty and willful. I don’t like it when the female characters get so much leeway with their bratty behavior and the male characters have to be all green flag and deal with it.
On a lighter note, I love the start of ep 7 - the boys and their competition! I wish the show featured a lot more of their interactions.
Ok, finally done! After having to struggle through the draggy conversations, the ending felt anti-climatic and I am actually glad that it was not a smooth HE for all. For once, I appreciate the twist at the end to shake things up a bit.
To each his own, based on the comments you can see that some people really liked the show and some like me were not as entertained. I wanted to finish the plot and I am a fan of Allen so I really wanted to support him ;D
Ep 14 was good because of the fight scenes - Miles is getting better with his moves and it's great to see both leads having skills. The ending was nice too, in the romance department, but we all know that the journey of love for a FL with secrets is never smooth.
The ending episode was "convenient" but you know what, I liked it, and the drama on the whole. It was an enjoyable watch. I did gripe about the last couple of episodes that they introduced more melodrama towards the end just out of the blue. They could have led to the plot resolution more smoothly. The second leads' relationship led to all these questions about reality but hey, it is a ghost story so I am going to let it go ;D My biggest complaint though is the ML's styling. Joo Won is sooooo much more better looking than the way he looked in this drama.
I have issues with this plot. With whatever FL chooses, there will never be best of both worlds, as every decision…
I am excited about this pairing so I am going to push through :) Maybe the plot is ultimately about one learning to accept and be happy with the choices made.
Ep 14 was essentially a filler episode with flashbacks and everyone clearly laying out the plot and identifying the bad guys. I guess in the next 10 episodes, it will be a battle between our leads and the two main villains. Ep 15 is going to be annoying with Prince Yi but seems like our ML will get to play hero again.
Personally, I think they look the same age. I think the Orabeoni is just like the "oppa" term of endearment, it's…
Yes but she definitely could not pass as a young maiden and the way they presented Choi , it seems that he should be older. So maybe I should have said that the QD was miscast instead :D
The Crown Prince’s side kick may not be that skilled but at least he’s always thinking of ways to protect his master.
I also like that some villains need to keep the King alive. So there is an internal power struggle to keep the plot interesting. I guess the show is trying the “gray characters” route with the QD’s attack of conscience and showing her backstory with Royal Physician Choi. I’m still not feeling sympathy for them though.
Luckily the Grand Prince is doing his part too to help the CP. It must be tiring acting out!
@JulesL I loved that outfit and hairdo too. I think that was one of her best looks. She is so pretty. Man, LX…
@Dedra70 I've watched Xu Lu's other historical dramas and this is definitely my favorite. Yeah, LX is going to be the villain that keeps coming back. If this was a Xianxia, she is the one that keeps getting resurrected :D
SDQ looked good in her black outfit and hairdo. She was one step ahead as usual but she made one big mistake. She should have taken care of Luo Xue’er immediately. Of course everyone knows that snake is going to crawl back and bite her
Agreed that FL was a mess and it took her a while to figure out what life is and what she wanted butI actually…
Well said! I never thought Zhuang Jie's decision about Shanghai was wrong. I like that the show highlighted that women can also make career choices without feeling pressure from their families about marriage. Her mum may be harsh, but she always supported her daughter's decision and understood why. I liked the way CMD handled the situation. He gave her space while not giving up on his principles. If she didn't go back to Nanping after 6 months, I think he would have gone to find her. Like you said, ultimately, they learned to adjust according to each other's lifestyles and ideas. The ending made sense to me, Overall, I would recommend this show! It is well-done.

Secrets are going to be revealed next episode!
