It's still ok since he is not tutoring her in clinical medicine. His plan is to improve her mental strength and increase her self-confidence. That's reasonable since he's like a life consultant...
However, I do agree that Wan Wan's character is dumbed down too much. They could have just had her stressing about doing operations in front of people but to have her not able to do anything is too exaggerated!

I like our dorkable ML. He's going with the flow and adapting to the FL's moods and situations
